  1. Welcome (back) to the forums!

A while ago I informally decided on this forum to be the only one I'd visit on a daily basis; when they went down, I came dangerously close to having a life. Thanks Jebus they're back.
  2. Murdoch buys IGN

9.x, like every other game IGN reviews. Maybe they'll have to lower their scores for everything but Fox gomes or something.
  3. Guy gamers with girlfriends

Dump that zero, and get'ca self a hero! Uh-uh. ...Or just, like, talk about it or something.... Sorry, I'll leave now....
  4. Nintendo, I love you.

My SNES might actually get replaced after all.
  5. The XBOX 360 revelation thingy

You know Trep has the hyperlink for those screens saved in a text file on his desktop so he can link to them every chance he gets. Not that I mind or anything....
  6. Psychonauts PC Demo out

Even still, that's a crazy deal. You sure you're not talking about the plain 6800, or the 6600GT? And yeah, case fans are necessary these days. I got myself four Vantec stealth 80mm fans pumping silently through my full tower case, and everything's cool as a cucumber.
  7. Psychonauts PC Demo out

Err...where do you live and what currency are you using? Because a Geforce 6800 GT, even the lesser 128MB version, is definitely a good deal at around $300 USD....
  8. Psychonauts PC Demo out

After two days, my 56K modem finally pulled through. Man, what an awesome game. All there is to say, really...but I'll still say more 'cause I'm bored. The classic platforming obstacles are some of the best I've seen--it's kind of like Prince of Persia, but with much less tedious button clicking fighting and more crazy genius puzzles and obstacles. So...really more like a modern day Mario. Awesome.
  9. Psychonauts PC Demo out

Not at all, I think you probably should get it for the Xbox. I was just pointing out that what you said was kind of dumb. That's all.
  10. Psychonauts PC Demo out

What's that? These kinds of games (decent platformers) almost never come out for the PC; they're almost always exclusive to one console or another. If you were going to make your choice on the principal of proving marketability on a specific platform, then definitely get it for the PC. PCs need more games like this. (52% @ 3KB/s)
  11. APRIL FOOLS!

Yeah, that was pretty lame...hell, from only the first two words in just the title I knew it was a joke.
  12. SWAT 4 demo

Yeah the demo's great, allot of replay value. For my tactical FPS fix it was either this or Brothers in Arms that would get my $50. I ended up choosing BiA mainly because...well...it came out first, and I'm impatient (very good game, by the way). And also I'd probably finish all of SWAT4 in under an hour, as I've gotten way too good at it through this demo. Bustin' in rapidly with only less then lethal weapons and flash-bangers, and having everyone tied up in a matter of minutes.... You don't need to get all the guns, just incapacitate or tie up all the suspects, and tie up the hostages. You just get extra points for securing all the guns and reporting everything and all that. To end the demo, once everyone is secure, just press escape and click debrief. Though maybe you know this and just wanted to do everything right.
  13. ...Then these would probably do it: For some reason those trees immediately screamed out Kings Quest 9 when I saw them. Something about the short grass and gnarly trees make me want to set out on an expedition through a real-time Daventry.... From Unreal Engine 3, by the way, sadly not an actual game, just tech stuff....
  14. Speedtree is some kind of tree and foliage engine that can be added onto an already existing engine, kind of like a physics engine. Oblivion uses its own engine which Bethsoft added Speedtree to, and UE3 will have Speedtree built into it. If anyone cares. ...I'm off to try and persuade one of those gnarly trees to marry me; wish me luck, please, because I can't stand rejection.
  15. Yeah, Oblivion does look fuckin' sweet, but man, I just love gnarly trees.
  16. That's easy: change. The same thing we all are afraid of to some degree, its a natural human defense mechanism. It's just kind of dumb when you apply this aspect of human nature to video games. 2D, tried and true point and click style games are known to work, and the jump to 3D for some old franchises in the past definitely have not worked out so well, so I understand some people's wariness towards 3D. And decent PC's aren't cheap.... But still, just imagine exploring a 3D location like the one I posted in an adventure style game, I don't see how anyone could be afraid of that.
  17. Yeah, the demos they have available on the Speedtree website aren't the Unreal Engine 3 demo which we're seeing here. They are still pretty damn impressive, though. Check 'em out if your PC's got the guts. I don't completely agree with the 'no matter what' part, I think they'll get over their fear of 3D eventually. But I do agree completely with the part about adventure games being about exploration; I can't wait until we get a mostly non-violent full 3D game that is all about exploring a vast and open world, and uncovering clues and solving puzzles. One day. Dreamfall is going to be a major step in the right direction for that kind of game, but I don't think it's there yet, the forced camera angles give me the impression of allot of linearity.
  18. Yep, all real-time. I think you've got some new firepower to unload against the stubborn adventure game purists. ...And you just know all the leaves and braches are swaying with the wind, and affecting the subtle lighting on themselves, the tree trunks, and the ground. Pre-rendered can't do that. Even if you were stuck standing still for no plausible reason, I bet those graphics are better in real-time then most pre-rendered games are in real-time.
  19. Spore

If you really work in PR, then I'll trust whatever you say on the matter of hyperbole, since that's pretty much the foundation of your profession. Oh my good god, SimAnt! I'd forgotten about that game, had so much fuckin' fun with it growing up.... Man, just the thought of that game makes me want Spore ten times more then ever.
  20. Flatout

Yeah...I'm glad I decided (decided...or in other words, my Mom wouldn't let me use her credit card...) to wait for this to come out here before buying. ...But seriously, that would suck if they didn't release a patch to update the Euro version to be up to par with the US version...suck for you guys, that is.
  21. 3 Things that are Annoying Me

Some people jump on the people that jumped on their chance to jump, I mean , the Yufster. ......
  22. 3 Things that are Annoying Me

Yeah, I'm sorry. Rouge is a word that doesn't come up much when I'm talking with friends, I normally only read it and don't give much thought to its pronunciation. Kinda like made-up names in fantasy books; when I hear them spoken in real life I never have any idea what, whoever used the name, was talking about. Moulin Rouge...yeah, now it all makes sense. Thanks guys, you made profound difference in my life.
  23. 3 Things that are Annoying Me

Maybe I'm just an ignorant American, but I've always pronounced 'rogue' and 'rouge' the same....
  24. Half-Life 2 deathmatch has landed

It looks better for me. A little less cartoony and more realistic.
  25. Oh, come on...how can you guys pick on Thunderpeel when he's got such a cute Avatar? Honestly....
