  1. Idle Food - Cooking!

Fuck, can you guys feed me everyday?
  2. Life

I had that happen, they were like jamming them into my hand and demanding I give them money. Hmph.
  3. BattleCry

Are crossbows not two handed weapons? It seems inefficient to have one in each hand.
  4. Damn it, but computers have become really complicated

Weird, the WD My Passport externals are $60. Why are they so cheap? I thought I would save money by buying a 2.5" HDD and enclosure separately but this seems to be the way to go. Is there any reason why this would be a bad idea?
  5. Damn it, but computers have become really complicated

I have this 500 GB hard drive sitting around and I'm trying to save money. That's about it. Otherwise I might just buy a separate 2.5" HDD with enclosure.

But I think it's only generalized in cases where we don't know what's wrong with someone. I don't see how that is incorrect or contributes to a stigma against all mental illness. I would further venture that many societies in general know enough about mental illnesses to not confuse one with the other. Most people know someone who has been diagnosed with depression for instance and I am very sure almost no one would think that causes general concern for homicide or that someone with depression should be locked up. Don't get me wrong, there have been bad attitudes towards the mentally ill in the past, but we have definitely come a long way. I will concede the stigma is still there, especially because I have a diagnosis for a mental illness and take meds everyday and I refuse to tell almost anyone about it because I don't want that to change their perception of me. I believe the stigma comes from "normal" people who don't want to deal with someone who is unstable or comes with baggage rather than someone who is possibly violent or homicidal. I do agree social norms within certain groups can certainly lead to violence just as well, but it usually tends to be more of a movement of masses than one extreme individual. Like lynch mobs for instance, like this one horrid event: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Lynching_of_Jesse_Washington (This is extremely gruesome, please don't click if sensitive to extreme acts of violence) With that in mind, for sure those who are into this culture of misogyny should have an eye kept on them (and convinced to change) especially if it leads to massive amounts of violence, but I still maintain it won't be helped at this point with this incident as an example.
  7. Damn it, but computers have become really complicated

If that is so, is it possible to buy a 3.5" hard drive enclosure that powers off of 2 USB hookups then? Do they make that? I'm trying to get an external I can take to school but not fumble with finding a power outlet.
  8. Damn it, but computers have become really complicated

Is it possible to buy a 3.5" hard drive enclosure (preferably Sata to USB 3.0) that does not need a power adapter? I seem to be reading that is not possible.
  9. Cartoons!

    I loved it.
  10. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

This is my favorite Batman thread.

Wow, I could only stomach about 15 random pages around the end and checking a collection of his forum posts. That's astounding. But thank you, I was sort of trying to say the same but you said it billion times better out and more comprehensible. Writing is hard. :/

I guess I just don't understand. He is still admittedly a psychopath but we can't speak of that? The guy should have been committed to a mental hospital and his parents should have tried a little bit harder instead of just his mother anonymously calling the police and then denying it to him. I think that is still an important element to consider. I don't feel like most PUA/incels/MRAs are going to become homicidal, and to use Elliot Rodger as an example that something needs to change will not work on those perpetuating these ideals because those who are involved in this stuff will not like the implication that they will commit murder. Similar to Godwin's law in a way except less nazis. However I do completely agree with this: There's a lot of bad enablers here and ultimately I would like to see them wiped out, but I still maintain he would have found something that drove him to extreme hate with possible homicide without some kind of psychological intervention. He actually reminds me of Mark David Chapman in that he had fantasies about ruling many little people that he would blow up when he got mad. Something was just as inherently warped about the mind of Elliot Rodger as it was with Chapman. I think until there is some kind of mob mentality to this sort of homicide it just doesn't strike well enough not to be the work of a lone madman.
  13. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

Okay I just had to understand that picture. Even with the image in full, I still cannot understand what growth is coming out from under Batman's face here. What was he trying to draw? It looks sort of like half of an upper torso. Surely he must have had some sort of plan? It just looks like floating muscle mass as it is!

I think it's just me then, but I remember it was also at the same time of feeling way too alone and hateful towards most everyone not just women, and around 14-16 years of age. It also was sort of like Ucantalas was saying, where having a relationship with an actual person felt way too important. Also the group of friends I had growing up disappeared and I had to find new ones. Sorry everyone, I didn't mean to paint with a broad brush! Everything you said is what I got from what I bothered to read. This guy had a severely warped mind. Is it so wrong he's written off as a psychopath? He clearly was for me. I don't think he is a good example of what happens when men get too in to this MRA and PUA stuff because he is extreme and over the top and there's not a whole lot to learn there. On a lot of his forum postings he's the most hateful person in the room and either everyone is ignoring him or someone calls him on it. I'd like to think those who get in to PUA/MRA/incel literature are redeemable and can be brought away from that mindset, but in no way was Elliot Rodger's redeemable at any point I can see. As you point out, he had extreme narcissism. He could have very well just instead went with his racist side and made that what he wrote about every day and made his need to kill target people of color.

Well to chime in on that, I do truly believe that most if not all teen boys go through that phase of misogyny, where they see all of the opposite sex as devious, deceitful, superficial, hurtful, or unfaithful, they don't really turn it in to what their life is about like this fringe group where it in turn defines their adulthood. I'll admit I went through that phase for more than enough years myself and did not want to even talk to a girl unless she met my high standards of what someone's personality should be, but none of that was actually broken through getting a girlfriend and was really something I got through by just learning about people and being decent and less selfish (not to mention far away from perfect). I feel like until a male works through that phase themselves, they should not unload that baggage on a female after starting a relationship. It's also unfair to think there needs to be some woman out there that must absorb this hate in order to cure a male of this type from their misogynist line of thought. People like this Elliott guy *should* remain separate from all women until this mindset dissipates even if it is a few levels under murder mode. They are creating an unfair situation all on their own. The thing with Elliott Rodgers is he seemed to not have once picked up a fucking hobby or interest and instead made his life about achieving alpha male status. As if having sex is a live or die situation. He measured his self worth in terms of his "superior" European descent, the type of car he drove, where he traveled, and what his clothes cost. It seems there was no point in which he wasn't a wretched human being. His Google Plus profile is a disturbing read without even knowing him as a mass murderer. I don't know, I refuse to offer any understanding to the MRA and PUA types, because they refuse to see there is more to life. I have been around nerds and ingrates all my life who are not relationship material, but for whatever reason, I don't think I've ever been friends with (or really known) anyone with this toxic misogynist attitude that permeates every waking hour of their life. Most people seem to find something to do, play video games, learn about something, read books, do something creative,or like get in to obsessing about the gym. Hell, they could all turn to drugs and it might still even be more productive than be someone who is a bottled up entity of seething hate.

His Youtube account shows he was in to Pokemon for a while, so the media can't have much fun with that. Yeah I don't know, I've already wasted like 3-4 hours reading parts of his internet paper trail and I feel really gross right now. The guy has such a strange sense of entitlement and his constant use of "magnificent gentleman" should be something one would say in a joking manner. I have an even harder time filling the gaps of what this dude was even like around his family or friends because it seems like all he did was spend all of his waking hours of the day obsessing over not getting a girl. Did he just spout his nonsense and everyone just constantly changed the topic or did no one even want to talk to him in the first place? The answers on why he was lonely or why he couldn't get girls is completely obvious to me and hopefully most everyone else is that he was creepy, narcissistic, placed self worth on all the wrong things (his BMW and clothes), and had a strange racist streak. His forum posts are all at places where people mostly welcomed this talk or at least were too busy whining about themselves to address the amount of crazy he chimed in.

Why are his hands so fucking tiny? Why are his awful muscles bulging out of the right lower side of his shoulder armor? It looks like his lowest rib is bent out. Also every square or rectangle on the guy is somewhat lopsided. Yet another super hero comic book artist who completely fails at understanding form/
  18. BattleBlock Theater

Looks like this game didn't make a splash. I'm really not sure if that's deserved or not though. The Steam version just came out last week and I was holding out on it, because I am not paying for a Gold account just for this game and keeping it running to collect their limited time hats. The good thing about it being on Steam is I can very casually pick up and play a little bit without totally distracting me from what I need to be doing on the PC. Battleblock is very enjoyable when you get in to 2 players in up, it's one of those games where it's nice to just share the experience with friends. However I don't feel like many people are playing it since there seems to be hardly anyone online if at all when the game is heavily based on user participation. The actual game itself seems incredibly short at an eight world total, and I've already finished the first world. I guess it's double if you count the co-op versions, but they aren't completely different multiplayer levels ala Splosion Man. What The Behemoth seems to base their longevity on is the user involvement of level creation and the availability of players to play and rate new levels. I'm not particularly interested in playing story type user levels unless they super creative, but there's just not that kind of flexibility compared to Little Big Planet or something else more successful. However the user created arena levels are much more satisfying and pretty much guarantees you'll never get tired of the maps. I don't know, the game is fun when I'm playing it, it is super polished, and I'm a sucker for platformers, but I feel a little confused that this game took years to develop and has very little content. I give less credence to the development time of a game made with tiles and characters without any unique abilities. Castle Crashers was short but it had a lot of original content, especially with unlockable characters and unique magic powers (although half of the characters had some kind of combination of other character magic).

Every sentence of that story tops the one before. That is not an easy feat.

I feel like it's only older American toilets that tend to clog. They use way more water and work way less efficiently, you can rest easy there will be no problems when one holds about 1.5 gallons and has a high pressure flush. Maybe the newer ones work like the Australian ones? That's life man.
  21. Licensed Novel of Games

I do have the two Gabriel Knight novels but I haven't gotten to them and probably won't anytime soon after Moebius. The only reason I'm actually interested in reading those is that they were adapted by Jane Jensen. But ultimately I feel like making a novel (even if it's a continuation or side story) of a video game, where a lot of the involvement comes with the visuals and interactivity, is futile. I don't feel like most games come with a good enough story to base a novel on. Some companies tend to make a lot of comics, sometimes with the idea of an official prequel or bridging a story (New Tomb Raider, DMC, Metroid, Infamous, and Ratchet and Clank), but it's only effective in that you can get the comics with over faster than a novel and therefore get the missing story/backstory.

I thought that this was the random thought thread. But I suppose it's just a thought and not necessarily random. POOP SHIT FART POOFUC
  23. Licensed Novel of Games

The Metal Gear comics sound like they are much much better. I've read more than a few licensed comics of games, but this is a book thread so I will stop.

  25. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

There's some bad lines and the Guybrush and Elaine TV sitcom dynamic is absolute shit, but Escape from Monkey Island is genuinely funny. It got more than a few laughs from me when I played a few years ago. There are some badly written not funny games out there but I wouldn't count EMI as one of them.
