Yeah I'm definitely glad Funimation is taking the initiative to keep a lot of different newer titles in print as well as keeping older catalogues of dead dub/sub companies in print, but their dubs are just laughably bad. I guess that to me is just a "bonus" for a release since I never watch with a dub ever, but I've found myself sitting through dubs for many shows in the last year or two because if it's a group it makes the anime easier for everyone to enjoy as well as it's better for those in attendance who don't want to read so much. So then a bad dub can sort of push a new watcher into disliking the show/movie because it makes it seem cheesy or low budget even if the visuals don't necessarily show that. Also this week my wife's younger (over a decade younger) sister stayed with us and put in Michiko and Hatchin and then I recalled besides the bad voiceovers, Funimation rewrote the whole script and added in a bunch of pop culture slang and an F Word every other sentence. The worst word ever said in the original subs was "shit." I don't even know why you would dub to the point where a rating needs to change. Is there any other U.S. company even importing and dubbing now or is Funimation the last one?

I'm surprised they could even figure out more than one.

I'm pretty sure Funimation is just licensing out this blu-ray set which was released over a year ago: http://www.amazon.co.uk/Cowboy-Bebop-Collectors-Edition-Blu-ray/dp/B00CBTN08C/ref=sr_1_1?ie=UTF8&qid=1407699604&sr=8-1&keywords=cowboy+bebop+blu It should just be the same as the Japanese Blu-ray release but with English subs/dubs. I think the Japanese one included the English dub. I've been holding out on the UK release because Funimation's release should be cheaper, but if it doesn't include the new special features and short like the U.K. one, then i'm not gonna bite. While I think Funimation would really love to redub the show with their terrible low-paid voice actors and pay less for licensing, I don't think that's going to happen because of how sacred the dub is to some. It's a shame because Funimation is so into their own dubs that they even record full commentaries among multiple episodes about how good they are (See Michiko and Hatchin Blu-ray).

No I want more than just Iron Man and Captain USA! Who else has solid dick jokes?! Robin Threadbare? Shazam Captain? The Uncanny DC Ultimates?
  5. Come on Pringles, I know you can create a better ad campaign than this. Once you pop! YOU KNOW? Bird is the word! I just remember the claim that there was no grease confused the hell out of me. You can still grease the hell out of the place with a good set of Pringles.
  6. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

Where are other solid dick comics?! I unfortuntately couldn't find any others through Altavista search.

Apparently it is a famous WWII poster. Now I have learned a new thing. How does this happen?
  8. Haha, has this already been said or are you the first one to check the page source, TerriShiavosGhost?
  9. Speaking of Cameron being a dick, I think listening to the commentary on the Aliens disc made me hate the guy more than ever. The way he talks about everything is so arrogant and self involved, like every idea he has is brilliant or completely unique. He also has no problem tearing others down on record, mostly his staff. There's a whole featurette on how Cameron and his then wife were just rushing and laying on the pressure for James Horner to record a soundtrack faster than he ever had because they fucked up something with deciding on a schedule or something. The featurette goes from Horner explaining how tough it is and all the stuff he had to do to get it done while it goes back to Cameron and his Wife smugly standing there pretty much saying they get what they want and the soundtrack was good, so we made a great decision. I might be a bit off on my memory there, but I think that's where I had the most negative reaction and I just wanted their eyeballs to melt. There's also a pretty lame dig at David Fincher at the end of the Aliens commentary where Cameron says he ruined the franchise for all of the fans by killing off beloved characters Newt and Generic Marine 8. Considering those characters only exist in the Aliens movie and he wanted to have it have his own "spin," as the letter you posted so shows, Teg, I don't think you can consider the whole franchise beholden to a tonally different sequel. Plus I doubt Fincher even had a say in the script considering he hardly had a say in a lot of what he shot or cut.

I guess I just have this thing against dogs people don't look after. All the times riding bikes as a kid and dogs chasing me. Dogs hate bikes. Glad you aren't severly injured though.

So many people should not own dogs. Are there not leash laws to deal with those types of irresponsible owners?

I'm super bummed I can't see Mood Indigo. Drafthouse Films is unfortunately publishing it and it has continuously been pushed back from a May release until next week in Austin. I can't see it because it's only there for one week in the screens far out of the city and I will be in Ireland. Yet Mood Indigo is still out today in the indie theatres of most major cities, many with a two week time frame. The Austin schedule was just quietly changed yesterday. Just another case of how Alamo Drafthouse just sucks in Austin. Apparently it's getting pushed because people need to keep paying for Guardians of the Galaxy and they need those screens. Recently Cinemaapocolypse, a major one time only event, was moved to their smallest theatre in the downtown location for Guardians of the Galaxy as well. Alamo in Austin is like AMC or Regal everywhere else. It's silly how the Alamo in Houston is functioning exactly how it's supposed to, since there's many theatres you can see Guardians there. If I didn't have a ton of homework I might consider driving to Houston to see Mood Indigo this weekend. I guess I'll wait for the DVD/Blu-ray release for next year to finally see it.

Well it could be debated that the kid wished Shrek alive to do that so I don't know. But yeah it's not my place at all to lecture any kid.

Depends if they can hear your audio. There's one with an animation with the Source engine movie maker thing that's definitely not work safe. Also sorry to hear Blambo. Unfortunately all long distance seems to end up that way. Totally sucks.
  22. Hey guys, just listened to the second half of the episode today and thanks for the shout out! It means a lot. Also I just now noticed we have a Reggie smilie. :reggie: I can't be bothered to find the alt code, the only ones I know by heart are TM and Copyright, which I can't even do right now because I'm on a Mac. Fuuuu.
