Ah I see, nevermind. I guess the old one was retired at some point for readability and the classic ones stopped being a general issue request. I hardly see them on the road though. EDIT: It looks like many counties are still issuing the old ones as is mandatory until the run out. Then they can do the new plates. Honestly, I hate them, I know the full color plates are cheesy and waste tax money, but it hits a certain bit of nostalgia with me to see illustrated plates from all states. It's just a bit of fun. It sort of doesn't matter in Austin since everyone pays extra for those stupid college football plates anyway.

Sherlock Holmes: Crimes and Punishments
syntheticgerbil replied to Gwardinen's topic in Video Gaming
Haha I looked up Creepy Watson again and see that the developer made a video making fun of themselves. Hats off to them, I love that they are able to joke about it. -
I think a theme helps, so I'd be down for that. I would guess the easy way without professional software would be to drop some mp3s in Windows Movie Maker or the Mac equivalent with regular images, then put it on Youtube?

My friend keeps inviting me to that, but I don't know about any wrestling. Maybe one day.

Well, I'd be interested in the Smart Jason answers if everyone is tapped out.

I didn't realize that was out. I recently realized there was an AMC nearby and I might be able to go to the local AMC and manage buying a $6.50 senior citizen ticket soon at the kiosk. They never check.

Hey did everybody give up?

My guess on the reason why he is all blue is most likely they were not going to animate a main fucking character where every block is a different color. So much paint and color coordinating. Why he has an old man head? No clue.

Holy Crap, There's a New Homestar Runner Cartoon
syntheticgerbil replied to tegan's topic in Idle Banter
I think my extent of watching Homestar Runner at the early turn of the century was just Teen Girl Squad and Strong Bad e-mails. I knew that Homestar had a clean and crafted vector graphic style, so now it all makes sense.- 30 replies

Geez what is this egregious abuse of the fat brush tool in Flash? Is part of the joke how terrible it looks? What?- 30 replies

But if you have to say you were paid off, then what's the point of being paid off? Can they at least write it in 8 point font with light grey text and a mid grey back? If not, there goes some easy cash.

Yes! I am handing this ™ to you!

Haha, but you know... it says "sorry" in there someone. Don't worry about the context!

Here's the thing that really annoys me about Total Biscuit. That guy as well as every other Youtuber is part of the Polaris network. Polaris is now owned by Disney. Their ass is owned by the biggest media company in the world. I've heard word before of Polaris pushing certain games onto it's video makers plus all of the ad revenue is targeted and engineered towards the top which they get their chunk. They play by a set of rules even though they would want you to think that they have free reign to still do whatever, it's cool, it's just Disney guys. Like all of this guys criticisms of whatever he thinks games journalists shouldn't do (which he seems to mix up between reviewer and so on) is done by the guy on a daily basis. I guess his leg to stand on is he's just an entertainer, an ad hoc journalist and reviewer whenever he feels like it, except he is only beholden to Disney for ad revenue and not an editor, so anytime he gets paid off for something, it's fine. Honestly, I'm really sick of Polaris part of Youtube these days and all of these overpaid loud punters under it.

I was thinking more like no mans land. Like trapped in ice forever and ever, or at least until after everyone else dies out and they can hang out with their buddies and just agree with eachother in lonely sadness.

Also doesn't help that John Lasetter is a money hungry fiend who probably was never all that creative in the first place. Oh and with the recent wage fixing scandal all the higher ups and Pixar and other Californian studios were aware of, I think they can all get bent and close for all I care. Nothing much else is probably coming out of the Calarts ghetto of believing in yourself or that "you're awesome" as the podcast put it. Steve Purcell is directing the new Toy Story short. It probably won't be good, but I'll watch it 'cause of him.

Ugh, can these people move to the Arctic or something?

Dealing with Someone Else's Alcholism

Wish I could tell you, my mom has been drinking almost every night for the past decade or so. Also used to drink a lot when I was young and didn't know why she'd get weird and mean at night or on weekends. My sister and I generally just call her right as she gets home from work if we need to talk, otherwise she's gone. I suppose my only solution for you then is to move out. It seems like with my mom we could all tell her she had a problem or that she should go to rehab (as you can't force her) and it would either waver between apology or the idea that her problem wasn't that bad. One thing that did sort of help her from drinking up a storm at family gatherings is that my sister would not hang out anymore unless she either was sober or took it very slow. It works for those occasions every few days a year... Uhhh, I guess I am just saying you are powerless and maybe to ignore it if you can? I think no matter what you do it's going to come off as criticism if you haven't already said something. Alcoholics all know they drink too much and he will probably defend this destructive think he is doing just because he knows it's wrong and doesn't want to face how powerless he is. I would think if you were to say something the only thing you could suggest is outside help and maybe do it as nice as you can even though he will still be mad. Seems like he really needs to also fess up to these doctors who are prescribing him psych meds because those probably don't interact with alcohol well. -

Man, I don't know how you guys stand Taco Bell. I'll eat it if it's given to me, but everything there tastes like sugar was added. I mean I know it's not Mexican food, but god damn it. I prefer Taco Cabana but even then, I'd rather dine in somewhere. There's not really any great Tex Mex in Austin, Texas, it's too far north and white people filled. I miss Houston. Also chalupa doesn't have to reference Taco Bell at all, it's just a giant bowl tortilla chip with beans, cheese, and guacamole. Something like that. It's all nearly the same ingredients everywhere. -

Idle Thumbs 178: CS Losers

Oh yeah Spyro was from Insomniac. The property was abandoned for Ratchet and Clank on PS2 for similar reasons in the way Naughty Dog abandoned Crash Bandicoot for Jak and Daxter. Something to do with Universal having a stake in the rights with both Crash and Spyro even though they were (mostly) Sony published properties. So they basically had IPs that gave money to a third company that sort of did nothing but own the rights and therefore profit from the fruits of their labors. I am probably off in many respects. I thought Sean really wanted to work at Insomniac as he said on a way earlier podcast. I am disappoint. But this is a useless post because this episode ultimately has absolutely nothing to do with this.
