You liked it in spite of all the sexist bullshit? Why didn't that bother you?
  2. Game and Watch - Share gaming videos you've captured

    It's my favorite loop.
  3. Star Wars VII - Open spoilers

    T-Tim Schafer?
  4. Crikey, It's Christmas (2014)!

Oh hahah, yes! Electric Six Christmas! So to pair with your post, Ben, here's one Dick Valentine did last year too:
  5. Cartoons!

I should watch it undubbed one day. All that was available was the dubbed version in theatres. The celebrity voice actors just aren't voice actors. Everyone sounded too strained. That said, I did enjoy the movie.
  6. Twin Peaks Rewatch 7: Realization Time

Just one note, David Fincher directed the first two episodes of House of Cards. I am not sure if it was ever pitched as a series created by him even though he is well known and because of him most of the actors who are on the show made it. But from all of my reading about it, Fincher was more employed to set a style guide and show pacing for the show rather than the show being his baby. However because the style pretty much is supposed to follow his work on the first two episodes, maybe that's why the show is continually being attributed to him despite him not having much to do with the rest of season 1 and all of season 2. I also pretty much doubt Fincher is going to return to direct any other episodes.
  7. Happy Birthday!

Haha, god I messed this all up. Thank you though!
  8. Ferguson

Ahaha, and I posted it in the Ferguson thread. (It was meant for Life, sorry 'bout that.)

    Snip
  10. The DS is ten years old.

I just wish it wouldn't blink red. My god that is obnoxious. I need to collect streetpasses until it dies, I don't need a fucking red light going off in my pants.
  11. What's funny to me is Sierra was always the one on the cutting edge of technology back then, starting with the scanned art well before Monkey 2, but a lot of their art tended to be so sloppy or bland in many of the games. It was very inconsistent with only the later games in a series having great art direction. Also Sierra tended to use a lot of traced video frames for their characters in later games (did this start with King's Quest 6?) while the pixel animation being done at Lucas was often very smooth, high in frame rate for the time, and had overall more personality. I'm not even just referring to Steve Purcell even though his animation early on was the most prominent. The Zak McKracken, Maniac Mansion, and Labyrinth era seem worlds apart to me compared to the Scumm games starting with Last Crusade. Anyway, all I can ask is that Thimbleweed part does not reinstate the "what is" verb. Come on now.
  12. It's weird, my dad did have Maniac Mansion installed on the computer, but I ignored it for the early Sierra adventures instead. It didn't really appeal to me until later. I consider myself starting with Monkey Island because it was my first LucasArts adventure to just devour start from finish. I didn't know what I was getting into loading it up. It was just a free game in a sleeve that came with this CD-Rom drive my dad probably spent way too much money on. I think it was a promo with 9 games included. Besides edutainment stuff my dad would pick up for cheap (he only bought games for cheap, pirated the rest from his coworkers, couldn't really pirate CDs at that point) those were pretty much the only games we had on CD for a few years after that. Oh yeah, one of the other CD games was Loom! It made the "play Loom" joke in the Monkey 1 Scumm Bar particularly hilarious to me, because that game was sitting right on the desk and I had no interest in loading it up based on the picture. Guess who played Loom after that? EDIT: Now I'm wondering what other games came with this pack. Maybe 9 was too much. I found someone on the Double Fine forums who definitely must have gotten the same thing we had, since it came with a Sound Blaster 16 which sounds about right: http://www.doublefine.com/forums/viewthread/6011/P360/#216637 EDIT 2: Found it! Some guy was selling it second hand in 1994. https://groups.google.com/forum/#!topic/cmh.forsale/iZdhAQTl-OA (Why is this on Google Groups?) I don't remember the Sherlock Holmes game at all and we had Lemmings forever at that point. Don't think I even bothered with the racing game. USELESS POST!
  13. Crikey, It's Christmas (2014)!

Braaaaaaaazillll. I also really still like watching the first Home Alone movie even though I know it's pretty dumb now. Macauley Culkin 2 Escape from N.Y. is fine too.
  14. Idle Thumbs 185: Beppo's Hole

Duck Dynasty had a game that was quietly released a month or two ago for $60. I hope it appears on the cast! My cousin dated Carrie Underwood in high school, either that or he just has his yearbook signed by her. I don't remember what he was bragging about. My mother's half of my extended family has been in Checotah for a century or two, with a great grandpa being some kind of entrepreneur in the area in the early 90s. Carrie Underwood is hilariously the biggest thing that town has ever encountered. It is otherwise a sad and backwards place to live which is why I don't really talk to that side and my mom moved to Houston when she hit her late teens to start shedding the racist and religious indoctrination living in such places brings. Anyway none of this matters, I just didn't want to talk about Taylor Swift or the music industry anymore.
  15. Idle Thumbs 185: Beppo's Hole

Well if you ever have a daughter and she likes Taylor Swift, instead buy her a Bikini Kill CD. Or... iTunes gift card, sorry, I always forget it's the future.
  16. Twin Peaks Rewatch 7: Realization Time

Maybe they really should have put her in the gift wrapping department then.
  17. DmC: Discipline Management Class for those Bad Kids

I figured out I could actually hook the obese guys, but I guess that's my problem with the teleporting demons, they are only really very open at that time where I can get a full combo in without getting hit or blocked. On the regular difficulty it wasn't so bad because it was usually them alone but it's getting tough when they are mixed in with a bunch of other guys, especially the blade machine demon. I'll definitely try that multistab thing more though. Seems like a good technique I just always forget. EDIT: I did find one strategy for the Dreamrunner, as they are known, which means I have to throw a projecticle and try to hook them while they are blocking them. That seems like such a small window of time, plus they usually reflect your projectile right back at you and you get hit, since I often accidentally throw those spinning blades. Hmmm... Also seems like the only way to ricochet blade man's blades are to use the scythe, which I knew worked, but it does seem like the only way to do it is charging. The time that takes leaves me so open though.
  18. Crikey, It's Christmas (2014)!

Now that we are rid of CDs, this will never happen again. I should see Mean Girls again.
  19. Twin Peaks Rewatch 7: Realization Time

Prostitution is a super exclusive business, you've really gotta know somebody! Especially in a place like Twin Peaks.
  20. Oh yeah, I completely forgot about that aspect. Gah.
  21. Other podcasts

The latest Serial podcast got me thinking Adnan is again not guilty. Rounding out his personality plus that he has good behavior in his decade in jail just doesn't strike me much of a psychopath rather than someone living out their life there. The explanation for the "suspicious call" Adnan made sounds even more in line and the talk with the lawyer. Plus the recent talk with the lady from the Innocence Project on how most people who are not guilty will constantly hold that they are not guilty plus that having a psychopath/sociopath with a charming facade is rare has just got me thinking that it's probably all more pragmatic and not very mysterious. If anything, it really got me thinking that jury cases like this suck and this is probably why there are so many in prison from decades ago who get released much later just because of faulty evidence or a rush to convict. I agree with the general consensus that if there's enough reasonable doubt, then Adnan should not have been convicted and I guess the case should have been left open. If I'm ever tossed into jury duty besides someone's speeding ticket as I have been in the past, I will keep it in mind.

I had never seen Ohayo. Neat!
