You say subversion but I've watched all of Imaishi's shows and there's nothing to show the director really grasps any of that outside of Panty and Stocking, which again, already did everything Kill la Kill while managing to not be sleazy. I don't know if you want to justify a hundred crotch shots and panties actively hugging a vagina as tight as they can in a close up as some kind of intellectual thing, that's your prerogative, but besides nice animation I don't see much difference between Kill la Kill and To Love Ru whatever. Also everyone is underage like in To Love Ru. Neato! On a side note, I am actually photographing right now to sell on Ebay an early comic done by Imaishi in the 90s where there's a dude in armor and a woman who is only wearing a cape and they fight crime. She prances around naked the whole time and makes the dude shoot blood out of his nose and sometimes that solves their case (it appears, I can't read Japanese). Seems pretty par for the course for Imaishi now, a boy who will never grow up. Maybe all of these word balloons have people all saying, "Shouldn't you be ashamed?" "Sexuality is about freely showing your body!" or whatever half hazard dialogue to do the same as Kill la Kill and I don't think this comic would make me feel any different about the sleaze. There's so many other ways Kill la Kill could have handled it's drawn, shot, and animated its hamfisted themes. Like the thing is, this show has all of the bombast of a B Movie and the execution as well, it's not some kind of high art and it never will be. It's not high art anime and that's fine, but you can't execute the mother daughter incest scene like a regular hentai and then say we need to give it the weight of like Grave of the Fireflies.

Oh that sounds so good though, I love your description.

I think everything that Kill la Kill did in terms of transformations was already done in a way more convincing and subversive manner in Panty and Stocking already. Kill la Kill is just so... sleazy in comparison, since with Panty and Stocking that all started and ending during the transformation, they were otherwise oddly drawn characters that were not sexually attractive unless in their anime form.

That's what this thread is for Twig. Next time you just cancel on everyone else and treat yourself.

With all of this offense, how will we ever be able to rock out to Crazy Train again? Also how will I be able to tell that girl she drives me crazy like no one else? And plus every girl I know is crazy for a sharped dressed man.

Such good background tiling there.

I had the Buzz Lightyear toy. There were no razors on the wings, ending is not possible.

Yeah it's almost night and day how different the show is. I have a really soft spot for Seasons 1-4. I think 5 is when things started changing, although slowly.

Huh? She looks about right. She used to have brown hair and the American cartoon reflected that more. Seems to be pretty much in common with the depiction in Mario 3 and the more cartoony style of Mario World.

Maybe I should start saying "hey ladies!" but not in a drill sergeant type context but more like this:

Hmm, the "you guys" thing is interesting because I say it just because it sounds better, if someone gets offended by it I feel like there's other things to get mad about, so I don't care, they know what I mean anyway. I really should be saying y'all because I live in Texas. A friend of mine not from here says he prefers that phrase because it's all in one syllable. And to be honest on these last few pages of arguing, I'm pretty much with Zeus, I avoid saying certain things around most people just because I don't want to make them feel bad/offend unless it's something I actually care about. Words specifically I don't. But I'll be damned if I don't consistently use words like "retarded" around my close friends and probably a dozen other offensive things. Honestly, it seems these days I'm the one getting offended more by stuff around these people.

This is so obscure. It's hilarious you had this song somewhere in your head. Now I remember it all over again. God this show, no one wanted that Power Rangers knock off!

Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Well dang I guess I'll have to go and download all the sidequest episodes. I was pretty much starting to wonder how they were going to fit all of that HD video on a blu-ray. -
Hah cool, Rollins fans! Rollins is weird, he's kind of gone through phases. In the 80s he was the tortured young boy, then forming Rollins band he got all arrogant and beefy throughout the 90s (Heidi met him late 90s, she comments on the podcast he looked like a bloated tick when she first started working for him), and then later Rollins to now kind of quit doing music as the last incarnation of Rollins Band was terrible and he focused solely on writing and spoken word. I think the last is my favorite because he's much more funny and insightful than he ever was before even though the music was way better in the 80s and 90s. Dude has also way chilled out then. It's weird, in high school everyone I knew familiar with the music seemed to hate Rollins. All this nonsense about how Black Flag was so much better pre Rollins. I think I'm younger than you so general opinions may have changed. I usually have a conversation with a Henry Rollins hater that he's a dumb guy who thinks he's smart, but to me that's not the appeal, he's definitely not the most brilliant, but he thinks a lot and is also kind of strange and lonely (but embraces it). Also their vimeo is pretty hilarious as well: Watch this punk rock veteran take out the trash.

But I just met you and this is crazy.

I don't imagine anyone here is a Henry Rollins fan, but just in case I'm posting this here. Old man Rollins has finally gotten a tad bit more modern as his manager Heidi has made him start a new podcast. I love the banter between these two. I don't know if the podcast will be interesting to anyone not familiar with Rollins Band or Black Flag, probably not, but it's a lot of fun in the odd mess of a person Rollins is plus Heidi May who really doesn't care about his moodiness or hangups and instead makes fun of him.

Am I insane in thinking there was already an Offworld gaming website? I feel like I'm having some bizarre deja vu. Edit: Wait so Merus, there was an older Offworld website? What was that like? Was it even related? Can I find remnants of it?

Hahah, Danielle with that fucking dark My Girl reference!

Is everything that is on VHX.com in terms of extras and bonus content going to be available on the blu-ray that is supposed to be released at some point? Well for Kickstarter backers at least. -
How on earth was this phrased?! Makes me think of an Office episode where Michael says, "Let's gang bang this thing and go home."

It was given to the wild animal shelter because the vet can't keep it more than 24 hours legally, so it's in their care. They'll probably name it Bionic Commandowl

It also has 100% of the extra features of the previous Remix release plus a few new ones. The DVD nerd in me loves that shit.
