They screwed him all up by making him some kind of mediocre incarnation of Liquid. The voice actor just can't capture that awesome flamboyancy. It just came off as awkward and forced, then you lost pretty much all good things about Ocelot's character by doing that anyway.

That's cool, those were always kind of a fun little bonus. Almost all Lucasarts games we got came with the hintbook anyway, which was bizarre as no Sierra game ever did that. I recall one time and one time only my dad purchased the MI1 hintbook from 1-800-STAR-WARS simply so that I would not longer be stuck. I guess it was almost two months and I could not figure out that damn giving the leaflet to the cannibals puzzle. I still hate that stupid puzzle. Not sure why he didn't just get 1-900-STAR-WARS to give him the one hint I needed.

MGS4 ruined Ocelot for me with his nonsense. I much prefer the wacky young one in 3.

Haha, okay, I could totally get if it were something from like 2006-2007 and some sad dude wondering why she changed, but that is from late 2011 and I think he's just reading more into "past Leigh" than he wants.

I think they just had those extra characters on the intercom early on that were later removed then. I recall the book feeling rather dry and boring for a game that was maybe sometimes boring but was also very pretty and had amazing music. Definitely a story that benefits from the visual aspect more than the writing.

I read that novelization but I must have been in like fourth or fifth grade, so more than fifteen years ago. I don't remember much other than I think it had some extra characters (don't remember Toshi though) and there was a shitload of time spent before Boston even gets up to space. I only read it because it came with our copy of The Dig I think and it was a pretty shitty book, or at least completely unmemorable. Also lots of time I wasted reading LucasArts hint books that were written like novels, although those were a lot more fun than The Dig book. That's certainly something Sierra didn't do in their hint books.

I wish Liquid Snake would come back. Every other shitty character comes back from the dead, but not the most flamboyant and hilarious of them all?

Man you guys, an official Dreamcast VGA box goes for a few hundred still in box, it's insane. Luckily there are tons of knock offs for like $50 or less, including what seems to be a straight cord to VGA which did not exist when I got mine. I'm afraid to ever buy a new HDTV because one of the main reasons for the one I bought in 2008 was so I could have ports for my multiple game consoles, so three HDMI, two component, one S-video, one RCA A/V, one Coaxial, and of course one VGA. Only annoying thing is I have too many various consoles so I have to switch a lot of those ports a lot, especially because the PS2 can't output PSX games through the component, which is completely idiotic. Anyway, I HATE that new TVs don't come with a wealth of these ports. Horrible. Anyway luckily PC Monitors still have VGA often so some Thumbs Dreamcast streaming would be neat. Danielle should do Soul Reaver or Rayman 2, I'd love it.

Yeah I played most of those as an adult out of a need to play everything by those guys, having only played the first Pajama Sam and Freddi Fish when I was young (played some Putt Putts back then too, but he's for really young kids). Gave some to my wife's younger sister by over a decade and she loved Pajama Sam. I think both of those characters are just as fun for adults that might be playing with kids plus the animations and art are great. One funny thing from a piece of commentary on Monkey Island 2 Special Edition by Dave Grossman is when he mentions designing some Humongous games and having to come up with endless scenarios and dialogue on why the character should be allowed to just take things from people or places, since most adventure game characters are generally thieves.

You must play the DLC, it is great, inventive, and the story is cute. Doesn't really play like the main game but instead is a little bit more gadget based with stealth elements. I had a lot of fun.

Enslaved looks wonderful, I love that game.
