For the most part, they were all the same, with minor graphical changes, or added animation, cleaned up graphics, and CD audio music in the later versions. I think the SNES version was missing the Intestinal Distress level, but that comes much later than the second level, heh.

I would imagine it's hard not to have raging boners when Tim Schafer has been so sexy in the past. -
Yeah it really seems to have greatly impacted the UK team. You guys should post more, I miss the antics.

I think a lot of people here have already been registered to Lucasforums for a while, I think as they mentioned many of the users here migrated from Adventuregamers and Mixnmojo. Or maybe not, I don't know. -
Yeah that movie was not especially good, but it was extremely fun to watch!

Those guys are way too old for high school. This game is worse than I remember it (assuming the Idlethumbs guys read my lame ass Ripper story next week), but I think it really shows that Tex Murphy was the pinnacle of live action adventure games. Possibly Gabriel Knight 2 coming in close. Everyone looks like they are rehearsing in a mirror. The part where they are shooting that green biped 3D piece of shit in the Lisa Frank background at 2:18 is just laughably bad. -
I think you need to counterbalance it by changing your avatar to Calvin peeing on your car manufacturer of choice. He can also be praying.

I always had a problem on the console versions just because it lacked save functionality, but both the Windows 95 and DOS ports added that in there. The hardest part about finishing Earthworm Jim in one set of lives and continues for me was always getting past the underwater pod driving part. They made that way too hard.

Why didn't you ask him? He may have picked up what you were listening to and was trying to hint to you that he enjoyed it. And uh... now I wish I had been there for that, because the video game song is great. -

Ah thank you, I'll look into it! Holy moly, our own podcast threads have never made it anywhere near 17 pages! I guess we at Idleforums are slackers who don't make too much good for incredibly extended argument and effigy burning? Yes, how dare they put down Gamestop, it's the publishers fault! It's just unrealistic to expect that a store specializing in carrying video games make it a point to have in stock all new(er) games available for purchase! I'm going to end up reading all of their bitching out of curiousity even though it won't be at all good for my blood pressure... ergh... -

What is an ECA membership? I should also say if anyone is ever in Austin, Texas and has a taste for old and obscure console games, some even complete wiith box and manual, it's worth checking out Gameover. They have three locations now and it's nice to see someone is making a living by keeping old stuff in stock. They don't sell anything new though and don't have current generation consoles or PC games to buy though, so they don't do so much in the way of alleviating this weird retail gridlock. -
Now I don't recognize you...

That is a bad Gamestop clerk. He does not care about the company's well being. "We only hire people who take this store seriously and are in it for the long run, not just to have a money and a job during college," said my manager when I used to work at Walgreen's. -

On the Gamestop discussion, I wholeheartedly agree. I think they figured out some way to completely profit off of new game releases while focused on their used business models, so their preorder system probably works great for them. Whether anyone who enjoys games or talks about them on the internet is okay with their system or not probably matters little to them as their ubiquity and sales with unassuming parents probably outweighs the bad press. I imagine most of us and anyone "serious" about games doesn't shop at Gamestop now anyway. I personally usually will only buy online but do find myself going to Gamestop when I get these $50 giftcards from this survey thing I'm signed up for, as well as when they have certain preorder exclusive crap. I did preorder some game a couple of years ago for some exclusive and they did not get it in or gave it away to someone else or something... the clerk couldn't really tell me what the deal was, and he explained that for many new release games they only fill in enough to satisfy the preorders. So I had to go to a different Gamestop in Houston. That sounds utterly stupid and not to mention it probably harms any company or publisher not developing or distributing AAA titles that are sure to sell, because it ensures most Gamestops will get them in stock once some kids bring them in used, but then all of that money will go to Gamestop only. Also not to mention that the shelf life of all games now only lasts for a small time now compared to a decade ago, with some not even staying on shelves for a full 6 months. Rant over, but I'm just sick of the US way of selling games where it's all dependent majorly on the rules of Gamestop, Walmart, and Target. -
I feel like I can't really judge the reviewer's judgment on the gameplay since I felt like I haven't experienced what I've heard is to come (by the Idle podcasters and elsewhere) at all by playing the demo. What I played in the demo I enjoyed, even though it was pretty simplistic and there was nothing I haven't seen before in a game. I did understand it was the beginning of the game, but I had no qualms and was enjoying myself. But if it is a nice welcome mish mash of gameplay styles presented similar to the way Beyond Good and Evil mixed a few different genre styles into one satisfying game (Pretty much exactly how Chris Remo cited it on one of the recent podcasts), then it should be a great combination for me. I'm predisposed to love Tim Schafer anyway though.

Sometimes there's elevator music and screams in the background and sometimes it's Night on Bald Mountain.

6/10 eh? That's a shame, as I was hoping it would be shining much more in the eyes of reviewers' than Psychonauts as well as being a better designed action game than the former. Maybe better reviews will come in? The demo was fun for me, although I did feel like maybe it would have been better to play a demo of a part of the game that wasn't the beginning, but I still thought it was great. I could see how the reviewer at Destructoid said technical and graphical glitches kept taking him out of the writing, but I have the feeling it wouldn't bother me so much, even though I kept noticing everyone's hair going through their shoulders in the demo.

It makes me wish for Tim Schafer to someday appear on Conan now... also ugh perez

Nah I don't think he sold out, I think he just really sucks now and should stay out of the animation business. I get the feeling he's getting kind of senile and has a lot of money to burn so he keeps funding/directing those hideous motion capture movies with the famous actors running around and doing interview after interview about how revolutionary it is. Your mileage may vary.
