The Secret of Monkey Island... Deleted Scenes!
syntheticgerbil replied to ThunderPeel2001's topic in Video Gaming
Mostly graphics but somewhat buggy messes as well. I'm less bothered by the audio than some. I should probably not talk about this any further, as I'm just going to fill pages up with bile. And I want someone to answer JohnnyW's question about the Spiffy the Dog graphic in the comments sections from Thunderpeel's (who is Johnny) link. I hope someone looks into the Monkey Island 2 source as well someday. -
Oh yeah, did I mention the game starts with the character waking up with amnesia? Does the demo take place inside the insane asylum or in that town of little deformed children? I thought if the game had stayed that good the whole time, I probably wouldn't have dropped it off at Half Priced Books.

Haha, if only you could decide. I still haven't heard anything from my insurance company. They did say on their initial call, "the less you hear from us the better." I always hoped maybe I'd have gained enough karma points since I've let people go a few times for dinging me, telling them not to worry about it and getting no insurance info, but maybe I can cash those out at a later karmic date if I don't gain more in the meantime.

I bought this for $5 based on a similar recommendation written very much like this from a department story back in 2003. After the first two "levels" which ranged from good to okay, this game goes atrociously downhill and the the design loosens up to nearly unplayable with long pointless dialogue sequences, bad art, a plethora of objects you can pick up that have absolutely no function, terrible voice acting, and a insanely hack story. There's this overly dramatic part where your character discovers that I couldn't help but laugh out loud at because of how embarrassing it came off. Personally, I'd say save the 10 bucks or download it ilegally and try it out first.

I didn't really have much confidence in the first place for EA continuously making the effort to introduce new IP, but it's nice when they do back something new whether it's their marketing, publishing, or development dollars. What really sucks here is that up to 1,500 people are out of a job, but I can only hope maybe they end up starting new or joining smaller companies that will introduce new IP and innovative ways to make games. Egh, I really don't want the game industry to start becoming a money hole though.

The Secret of Monkey Island... Deleted Scenes!

Nope I can say it. It's my opinion the team was lazy and I have no respect for some of the amateur mistakes that were made, so of course I'm making childish digs as an aside on a forum. I'm also sure Lucasarts had more than enough time and money, so I don't need to hear apologies for them. Even if they did their absolute best, it really was not good enough and quality control was absolutely out the window. You don't get an A for effort. Also it probably would have helped if they had not farmed a majority of the artwork out to Singapore, no doubt to get cheap with it. -

Ahaha, I love the option where you can get Meathook to go loot the town with you. Some of this maybe I wouldn't have wanted in, but it wasn't meant to be so, yep. Glad the Special Edition team didn't decide to add it in, although I'm betting maybe they would be too lazy either way to go through something like that. -

Ah, wouldn't that be a laugh before you drown? I'm in full support. -
But you're not that old I think. I would say you were look like a spry 19 year old any day of the week.

Kolzig is so old now.

Nah, that guy is a total douche. He's not excluded.

Most definitely. It's Thanksgiving week specials time, which really means rerunned movies and maybe some original content. I guess it's figured no one will be watching either way much...

Bleh, I caused a minor accident today fucking with the radio in traffic and not paying attention, and even though I just sort of cracked a plastic bumper, apparently the lady I hit was personally injured according to my insurance company. She said she was okay after we pulled into a parking lot and I made no qualms admitting it was my fault. I was hoping it would go smoother because I always feel like every mistake I make snowballs into something that will leave everyone disappointed in me. I really hope I'm not going to be sued or put through the cleaners for money. There's a lot of incentive in Texas (going by the commercials) to sue for large sums of money in injury accidents and I've never trusted any insurance company. If she's really hurt, by all means I think my insurance company should pay and raise my rates insanely, but I feel like it wasn't really that bad and now I'm really worried. I guess I would seem like a jerk even for feeling this way. I probably am. Maybe I'll delete this later.

Maybe this is somewhat close enough?

55WIZARDON is only for douchey calls.

They should just get Dave Eggers.

Best Buy can get bent for all I care. Down with big all-in-one electronic department stores. But I will agree it is nice they ACTUALLY MAKE AN ATTEMPT TO KEEP BRAND NEW GAMES ON AN ACTUAL PHYSICAL SHELF. Yeah that's real nice, I suppose, but I would consider it a given, not really a merit. I noticed they also started marking a lot of their CDs down to $9.99, making them slightly less what I would call Worst Buy, but they still suck at carrying hardly anything but music published by major labels.

I think I will bring one of those hentai dating sim games and an anime girl body pillow. There's just going to be so much masturbating. I'm sorry for replying to this topic. -
God I hate the term "wifey."

And the worst thing is, I know almost 75% of the buyers or renters of the games with the pin card still inside are not going to use them ever! Haha, but yeah, I'm more afraid of just pissing someone off. It would be weird if I were caught and had to explain exactly what I was doing.

I would also like to say I love Little Big Adventure 2, but really can't conclusively break down any percentiles. You do get to beat up small kids in a preschool, make them cry, and then find their older brothers outside waiting for you. It's many nice touches like that that make the game much more memorable outside of the core game, which is bizarre in a good way as well. I wouldn't say Beyond Good and Evil copied it too much. While I can see the major similarities in plot and gameplay, I think they offer very different experiences, which Little Big Adventure being much more silly, grand, and varied.

Rayman 2 has a crazy amount of ports that make it hard to distinguish the best or "truest" version to play. The PSX version is actually a trimmed version of the PC/64/Dreamcast versions (which are all similar with Dreamcast having some added extras and looking the best out of the three). It also forces the awful English dubbed dialogue as opposed to the gibberish spoken in original releases. I would say maybe avoid the PSX one unless you are interested in what they changed and removed. There's also the PS2 version called Rayman Revolution that adds a hub world and mini games as well as new scenes, levels, and an extra boss. It also oddly meshes certain levels and changes the whole order of the original game around as well, so it's probably not in the complete spirit of the original release, but still very fun although a very disjointed experience for someone who did not play this release first. So generally, I would just say the avoid the PSX version and Rayman DS (which I hear is basically a scaled down version of the 64 one and awfully hard to control) and try out one of the other versions if you can. Well it was certainly a feat in 1999, which is when I found it extremely appealing rather than only mildly.

I haven't been able to get anything I want from Club Nintendo at all yet (The Game and Watch Collection), being stuck around 300 points forever. The Game and Watch Collection is sold out anyway now, so it doesn't matter, but luckily I won it off of Ebay for about 30 bucks a few months ago. Their point requirements are still way too high for anything worthwhile in my opinion. I have Tingle's Balloon fight, and I'm eagerly hoping for a proper English release to come to Club Nintendo, but I'm betting even if it did happen the point requirement would be impossibly high and I'd still have better luck on Ebay. If anything maybe a full English release of Game and Watch Collection 2 will come to the US next (since America hates Tingle) and that I'll have enough points to get that. I have considered going to rental stores and stealing pin number sheets out of the cases for games that give points, but eh...

So let me know about the part when someone forces that woman in the club to give a blowjob. All my bets are on that there's always something in the game from blocking you going that far, sort of how your description of the sequence you played panned out. I would imagine almost all of the choices are streamlined and mostly all point to the same outcome. So far, I have seen it shows tits, which seems to be having the 13 year old boys at the Gamespot message boards raving. I would say currently my impression is the same as n0wak's was/is.
