Yeah, that's the strange thing, the CPU chip monitor that was installed as part of the motherboard has it set at 50°C and then an alarm will go off, but it never goes past that point. There's a little bar that turns red on the monitor if it does. When I check while it's doing a bunch of junk, the little bar is always in the blue (which is good). I've tried leaving the panel open, but it doesn't seem to make a difference. I can close every program possible besides the Adobe Movie Encoder one, and it still always beeps every time. Usually I just leave the room and let it do it's thing, but it seems odd to me I can't encode or export a movie without the motherboard freaking out, when I was able to do everything just fine with the same programs on the machine I had that was built in 2005.

Is this documented or transcribed anywhere?

I guess I'm mixing things up here and didn't realize it. Rayman Origins was supposedly done by a team of five, but there's nothing saying the BG&E2 is the same team or even that Ancel has been officially confirmed that he worked on Rayman Origins (although that may be hard to find out until the credits roll on the actual game since good info on Ubisoft stuff tends to be sparse). So yeah, Kingz, I think you may be right, how small the team is could just be relative. The comments also seem to be inferring that the article somehow meant this small team would just be developing the concept of the game, the characters, and setting up art direction and that it would fall on a larger team to finish the game, but who knows? I didn't get that from the article.

I'm still wondering what it's like to get past four digits after all of these years.

Does anyone know how to make my Gigabyte motherboard stop beeping at me?! It's this one: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Product.aspx?Item=N82E16813128397 It's so obnoxious. I guess I could read the manual for it and look at the junk on the CD, but I only familiarized myself with the apps that came with it, and yet it still beeps. I can't seem to figure out why it is doing this. If I check the alarms for the motherboard, neither the CPU chip is overheating or the fans stopped blowing. It really only seems to happen if I have too much shit running at one time, like bittorent, Soulseek, Firefox, and one or two Adobe programs. Virus scanning always makes the motherboard beep constantly, no matter what's running, until it finishes. If I export a movie in Premiere or After Effects, it will beep until it is done. Is this a memory problem? I do only have 4GB of RAM on a computer that probably needs 8GB. I just keep putting off buying more. This is sort of related to the thread because I bought the Frankenstein PC parts, but my dad put it all together since I don't really know what I'm doing... I think. I could probably figure it out if I tried.

You can tell Armchair's race from the way he types. Also, CONGRATULATIONS DOC!!!

I guess that's good news? I mean it's not "officially" and indefinitely on hold anymore, it seems. I'm still confused whether it's well known that Ancel directed Rayman Origins though. The rumor earlier in the thread ended with a fellow game designer saying Ancel was working on Rayman with a small team, but Ubisoft never really made an effort to officially confirm or deny anything (besides that he didn't quit). The article seems to infer that he was responsible for Rayman Origins though. But the small team for a personal project has me worried. It sounds good, but I can't even imagine 5 people making the first Beyond Good and Evil all by themselves at the moment. Maybe if all 5 were really fucking good at what they do.

I'm curious as who the audience is myself. I guess it ultimately doesn't matter, because it's a good game, but I sort of knew the levels would get increasingly harder as I played. For the record though, I still haven't beat it yet. I've been playing it really slow, but have been enjoying it when I do. I'm on the third world, but so far, the puzzles and my ability to solve them started getting a little tough at the end of world two. This could also be because I'm playing all the unlockable levels and getting all of the treasure chests as I go along. Also, a quick question: Do you know what the unlockable snowglobe is for in the bedroom? It makes the blob glow and it carries it over to the levels, but is there a reason for it? Does it help me find another secret?

I guess I beat Infamous about two weeks ago and have been slowly going through it on hard mode as evil since then, but there's not much to say even to trash the game. This game is just completely and exactly what I think of when I think of mediocre. Sucks there's another one coming out, and I like the Sly Cooper games so much.

Facilities be damned, I need a birthday, (Jeff)!

Now that you mention it, it did have a somewhat extensive amount of religious references compared to your typical video game trailer.

That trailer was done by a completely different studio for promotional purposes only.

http://www.27bslash6.com/missy.html This cheered me up. From the seven legged spider guy. Is this about life? I don't know whatever. "Fine. That will have to do." Shannon's spelling and grammar kind of sucks, but David could totally be dating her had he played his cards right. I think the red hat might help the cat's return anyways.

Oh man, this can only spell disaster. Cancellation is all I can hope for.

Well I had a nice time in Galveston a week and a half ago with my girlfriend of six years, but all that stuff makes me feel like I'm bragging. No oil there... yet, but turtle patrol was out everywhere. I've also been talking about helping to animate and draw for a friend's brother's game, but I don't have time right now, but maybe I can get involved in more projects like that in the future on my free time. Besides work, everything is kind of marred because of anger at the oil spill right now, so eh... I guess it's hard to respond when people post in the life thread with good news and you just can reply with a thumbs up, whereas usually it seems like posters want to help the others out.

Boo hoo!

It's kind of handy, I don't know why generally people get so upset about it. I suppose it's annoying when someone resurrects an old thread for the sole purpose of arguing, but in any other case it tends to keep the same topic in one nice, neat little place.

Roger Ebert rehashes old debate even indie hipsters are tired of

Maybe he's referring to that Huck Finn movie with teen hunks Jonathan Taylor Thomas and Brad Renfro that Disney put out years ago. -
I thought it was going to be on PC, but I knew a Wii release wasn't coming. The press release still does leave the possibility of a later Wiiware release though. Besides porting and all that, their excuse for the art doesn't make sense because the graphics could be output at a lower resolution. I'm okay with the episodic format, but I just hope the game doesn't get lost in sales because of it. Sonic is Sonic, people will buy that shit no matter what crap is put out in the series, but I still feel like Rayman has a hard time existing or being profitable (except with those Rabbids). There also hasn't been any Rayman game on either 360 or PS3 besides a port of the original Rabbids game and I think the rerelease of Rayman 1 in the PSN store. So I wonder how familiar the character or series might be with some.

I actually also love the style, colors, art direction, and animation of this game even though I despise Scott Pilgrim the comic and have no interest in getting into it. So I probably won't be playing this game, but kudos to the designers and animators. Great job!

I've played the most glorious train wreck of a game... (It's kinda long)

Yeah, I wasn't on Al Lowe's mailing list for more than a couple of months. I didn't really want to read a rehashed joke a day. I honestly don't know if it's still going. Crap, I never even realized Grossman had a mailing list. Guess I better get on it. I own his book as well, but I haven't taken the time to read it as of yet. -

Haha, I remember that odd story. I love that interview with Scotty Murphy, even though it's like the saddest interview ever with a game designer. It seems to pretty much illustrate the dirty truth behind all of that self promotion Sierra did. I really feel bad for the guy, because Space Quest has always been my favorite Sierra series. -

I'm pretty sure all of those jokes were not things he had written but copied and pasted from somewhere if it makes any difference to you at all. I see what you mean, though, they are the exact kind of office fodder that people at a button up oil company would send around (or my Texan and Oklahoma relatives would flood me with if they ever had my e-mail address). I just imagine it's because he's old. I sort of figured that. I imagine the guys that worked on the original Worms games (and the Amiga stuff before) probably aren't the same people there now.
