Whatever dudes, new incarnation is/was better. Less Goldblums, more games. -
Ahaha, I was about to make fun of people posting regular tracks and say like, "Sanspoof dead, game over," but then I realized I had been reading the title of this thread as "Sad GAME OVER music." I guess obviously all game over music is sad (Except Daytona). Now I am the fool.

With that, I'd argue comic book writers have never been very important or prominent, but have for whatever reason ended up getting all of the praise in the United States because of the two corporate comic giants who separate each part and make a somewhat simple artform (in terms of construction) into a committee design. DC Vertigo has made Alan Moore some kind of comic god, when I'd say he's only above average. I think the best comics have been done by the person who is both writing and drawing, there's no better way for an artist to tell a story than to be able to not have to know every literary trick in the book and to use the importance of visuals which is often lost on people writing for comics or cartoons. People forget that drawing is a form of storytelling and communication foremost, and that when you are drawing you are writing in a way. When the current US system is set up the way it is, like the scriptwriter is god, then it becomes hard for the artist to flex his muscles (especially when he has to hand the pencils to a separate inker and then on to a committee of 12 to color in Photoshop) and actually show what someone good with a pencil is worth. While I liked Uncharted 2 a lot, the story was still pretty abysmal. The essential "YOU GOTTA BELIEVE" part and the constant sarcasm should show that it wasn't the most well constructed story ever. No video game has ever passed some of my favorite comics in terms of writing or art direction (except maybe Grim Fandango) and these days video games are committee designed by default almost. They do tend to shine with the one lead steering everything, the director, but I still don't think those are comparable. Marv Wolfman can get fucked in all orifices for all I care,as if the guy who writes for Superman or Teen Titans has some sort of essential point to make. (Sorry if I'm coming off as a total ass to you Sleepdance, it's really just something I feel personally about and I don't mean to attack you or anything.) -

Because of Bioshock? It's not that important. There are other way more important games out there. -
Then you can make tiny Big Dogs that go inside our skin.

Jeez, those are some awesome animations. Thanks for the link!

Crazy, I didn't know the world outgrew the concept of user manuals. Anyway, Tankitsune, I have a friend really into to beat 'em ups who is loving this game, he's not into Scott Pilgrim though. He gives it a thumbs up. He says... Really I myself, would rather just watch all of the sprites move or gameplay videos of this, since the whole Scott Pilgrim aspect of the game puts me off, but the animation is great.

Yeah I don't see why your country should bar you from making a purchase from a valid international type (Maestro, Mastercard, Visa, Cirrus) credit card, since you could go to most countries and buy from a store or ATM with the same card, but oh well, I guess Sony doesn't want to take your money. Do they really not expect anyone from Jordan to play Playstation? I think Cigol's right in saying your possible best bet is to get a PSN card from Amazon or somewhere. Only problem is I bet Amazon would classify it as a "video game" and Amazon websites won't ship video games internationally. They apparently don't allow their third party sellers to do so either.

I actually think a lot of the boredom with Woodruff originates in whether or not you find the teleporter early on the the game or not. I think there's a series of somewhat obscure puzzles that lead you to getting it, but I remember being frustrated my first playthrough after having walked slowly around the maze of the city trying to solve puzzles only to find out there was a teleportation device in the game all along that I could have been using much earlier. Getting intentionally sent to a mental hospital in order to escape wage slavery was one of those novel adventure game ideas you don't see too often.

I guess I skimmed over this earlier, but this picture fits together so amazingly well. -
One of the few adventure games with a life bar, that Gobliiins. I don't agree with that design choice, but 2 and 3 are really great. The art direction and character stylings of the third one are my favorite. Woodruff would have been amazing if it had more animation and less boredom.

Yeah they know, otherwise they would probably be somewhat peeved... I'm guessing.

Oh ho ho, you don't know how completionists work. Already known to 100% any game that throws out percentage points or collecting as much crap within a game that I'm allowed to collect, I didn't think I'd care about trophies because they are "outside of the game." As soon as that little ringing sound came up for my first one, none of the "outside attitude" mattered as the realization hit that the designer gods choose the achievements and that you must appease them. To me, any game that does that sort of massive to do list shit or creates some kind of environment where I have to have a second job playing this game just to get everything is something I would just avoid altogether. -
Well, what would video games do without a Duke Nukem game constantly in development?

While he was very likely dabbling in the design of those two games in one way or another, the last time Schafer has been credited as a designer was on Full Throttle. He has served as a director, project lead, or creative director since, as well as story and dialog credits, but Erik Robson was the credited lead designer for all of the Double Fine games so far. I don't know if that has any impact on what your saying though, but I think if anything it will mean most likely these four small games will all have varying design styles, so maybe you'll find something you like.

Little known but intensely embarassing fact about me, in the 7th grade, I wore a silk screened Goku shirt. It faded after about 4 months and then I got out of my underage anime stint by then anyway. -
You know, I have that same fear as well. It's kind of silly and selfish, because it's weird for fans to expect everything from a growing small company to just come from one guy's lead, but I guess with Schafer he's one of the few that has games that sit on a "special place" on the shelf (golden raised podium with engraved plague). It also makes me personally less interested, but I will still try to maintain interest, because companies like Double Fine deserve it. Aww, I was just kidding around. I hope no one was taking you literally. I'm also going to guess this art isn't finalized, like the GUI elements some were pointing out. The kids seem finalized, although I'm not happy with them. As Murdoc said, they just seem too much like Wind Waker rejects. Even in Wind Waker not everyone looked like Link.
