  1. WTF is Telltale's new game?

It's gonna be a Super Smash Bros. clone.
  2. I hate you, Sony

That's right Kroms, BE A MAN! (Also, the username Johnny has seriously not been used up to this point?!)
  3. Haha, I actually enjoy Simon 2 and 3 much more than the first one. Everyone universally hates 3, but I thought it was pretty good outside of the hideous graphics, painfully slow loading times, and ridiculously wide areas to walk around in. I can see exactly why many wouldn't like Simon. The first game was very bland in many parts, the humor and characters are all pretty smug, and Simon is a complete asshole to everyone second game and on. The sexism is not always playful, but actually meanspirited in some cases. So while Guybrush can sit there and be creepy to Captain Kate, Simon would start insulting her body type instead. Kyrandia as a series is way more accessible than the Simon series despite it having a wholly different interface and inventory system than most adventures. The only hang ups besides that is just the confusion of the third one and that you probably need to draw maps for almost all of the first game (or at least one specific portion). Feeble Files was great though, I wasn't too bothered by the prerendered 3D stuff. I felt like they pulled it off pretty great for the time. The biggest bother for me is just how they encoded the videos where all of this compression garbage keeps getting left on the screen.
  4. New people: Read this, say hi.

Started at five? I mean I think I've been playing games since 3 or 4, but I was terrible at games until somewhere in my early double digits. Also, hello!!!
  5. Haha, wasn't that when Keanu Reeves was still more well known for Bill and Ted? Who wants that?
  6. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah, he's on the old 80s making of thing, but I was just hoping he'd do some reflecting. I'm a lame ass who is really interested in DVD features, especially retrospective type commentary. Brian Froud does commentary, which is somewhat strange. but everyone else on the current features is like the Henson kids or puppeteers. Too bad because Terry Jones talking is like the exact definition of jolly. It's great! I should check out his draft, though, thanks. Might be interesting.
  7. Shank! It's stabby time!

    SHANK EXCLAMATION!
  8. I was thinking more of the part where Zanthia is trying to get to the center of the earth from the Volcanic island and you collect all of this crap for all of these people that does nothing in the end. I was never sure if they were making fun of themselves, adventures, or what? Also you could create the flying shoes on that part, which also did virtually nothing. I'm always going to wonder what exactly was cut there because the back of every Kyrandia 2 box shows Zanthia in a red dress with those flying shoes gaining on the hand while it's on the rainbow. I think this screenshot appears in the manuals too.
  9. Shank! It's stabby time!

Please don't say period like that. It's too bro for me.
  10. I've always felt like there was a lot to like about Malcolm's Revenge. I think they just had way too many things going on at once. The first part of the game has six different ways to leave the island. There's no way of knowing which path you are on or if what you are doing is helping your puzzle at all. It's fun to do all of the paths and see what's what, but when I first played it, I was very overwhelmed. The only other crap thing is finding 10 of this, 10 of that, but I think all Kyrandia games pull stunts like that.
  11. Shank! It's stabby time!

I definitely think PC releases of smaller games like this would help them strive and sell more units, so I don't know why companies seem so hesitant. I mean, you have less chance of being pirated if you release on Steam only, correct?
  12. Shank! It's stabby time!

This is nice tween animation and all, but I completely hate this style of art direction and character design. I imagine it'll appeal nicely to those who like Penny Arcade's style mixed with Venture Brothers. But I'll shut up since I think Idlethumbs consists of people who unanimously love Penny Arcade. Game could be fun too I suppose? Climbing walls and using a shank. I'm buying Castle Crashers soon though.
  13. Mafia II

I get the feeling Playboy is no where near raunchy enough for real Mafia.
  14. Life

I used smart blur a few times years ago on scanned pencil drawings because I felt people would hate my scratchy shading, but I'm glad I stopped.
  15. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah that's the interview. I think it might indicate why he isn't on any of the DVDs and such talking. It's kind of why I bought the Blu-ray version, for some Terry Jones. I'm pretty sure the worm bit is completely his. The rocks and hands are also I think all of his dialogue as well.
  16. Life

  17. Eric Chahi's Project Dust

Ah, I remember that interview, I didn't realize it was on Idlethumbs, but that's my fault. I guess I assumed I had read it at another site. I didn't realize you guys helped with that at all. That is a great site because that was the only way I found out he had made about 7 or so games before Another World. Too bad some are all in French. Thanks for making that, comprehensive sites on important people's work in games seems to be all too rare.
  18. Epic Mickey

Christ, what's with the mod hate lately?
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

Well, that's funny you say that because there's an interview floating around where he seems a bit unhappy with the film. He says nothing after she bites the peach (apricot? apple?) is his and that the whole underlying story of a girl's sexuality was not his either. He was sort of just in to punch up dialogue.
  20. DeathSpank

It's seems like maybe they were making too big of a game all at once or had all of this stuff started for additional episodic content, but then realized it was too much and split it? It's pretty strange Ron Gilbert failed to mention this, but I guess it did make a nice surprise. I saw your comment on the recent Grumpy Gamer post. It seems like what you and the other guy are talking about might indicate there is more to Ron leaving and the games being released like this than we may ever know? That's fine, I'm just going to be really annoyed when it's the same map except this time I can only traverse the other half.
  21. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah, all of the songs were really strange and sexual. It's kind of neat in a way, even though I'm really not a David Bowie fan at all.
  22. DeathSpank

    Haha, if only.
  23. Movie/TV recommendations

I used to hate that movie, but my girlfriend has forced me to watch it so many times that I have developed somewhat of a strong liking for it. My favorite part is that it's basically a story about a girl coming to terms with her sexuality. The rest sort of makes no sense at all, like the logic doors, why she was transported in the first place, and Also I like muppets and monsters and things. I bought the concept art book for Labyrinth and the things Brian Froud draws and paints are just gorgeous. I hope I can get somewhere near that level of greatness one day.
  24. Reformat the Plant - a documentary on chiptunes

CHIP TUNES?! I CAN'T WAIT TO BOMB SOME DODONGOS! sj8_7OFK0oc
  25. DeathSpank

It was pretty sneaky. I just thought they scrapped a bunch of stuff that was in trailers. The thing I'm wondering though is, the second half of the map unused in the first game is almost obviously reserved for everything in the second game... Does this mean you can traverse the area of the first game in the second or will that be off limits and blank? Maybe the two games will work together?
