Is the 28 Days Later eyeball scene an homage to the Blade Runner eyeball scene? I guess I'm just now realizing this. That and I just don't seem to see the ol' jam-the-fingers-in-the-eyes move used much in movies.

I can't stand Spike TV in general. I am not going to watch it to complain, but I'm glad you're complaining even if it's unoriginal or basically what you should expect from a program like this. I guess it's just another one of the insulting portrayals of the types of people who play video games. It's almost like it's a reaction to the years of pale shivering nerd spending all of his waking hours on single game to instead portray people who like video games and jock meatheads who are all strangely homophobic and homoerotic simultaneously at all times.

Hooray, I'm supposed to start helping (in my free time) with some art for this small game some guys from Harmonix are doing on their free time. I used to work with a programmer at my old job who left to Boston to work there, but they laid him off way earlier this year. I think it should be fun even though I'm working for free. I don't mind helping to contribute to another's pet project.

This isn't funny anymore.. stop monkeying around with Monkey Island!

Or, "I'd be peeing my pants if I wore any." -
I missed this thread when it was posted but isn't this the second time this has happened this year, Snooglebum? Hope you're okay.

I recently read the Holy Fools Gilliam book and he seemed really angry at Blade Runner, which I sort of found as a shock. Also I haven't seen the new version. I guess I should pick that up someday, as it has become ridiculously cheap for a five disc set.

 I know they quickly tweaked some things following the release of the first (half of) Deathspank game, but I'm not sure how much was changed or made more cohesive besides obvious changes that we as the player can see. The second game feels paced more correctly and very fluid and overlapping tasks that carry you from one part to another very briskly. I seemed to have spent more time running around and killing the same guys over and over again in the first game.

My real reply is that I completely agree with what brkl said here, but I guess I didn't want to complain with you Tankitsune, because I've stopped playing most adventures, especially anything faintly mediocre, so I don't really feel annoyed with constant LucasArts references like I was for a while there 6-8 years back. That and I guess it doesn't make me too mad to remember to be mad about it. -
There's already DLC for this?! I don't remember that being announced (not that I often check Double Fine's website). This is the first game I'm getting when I'm no longer broke.

Yikes I need to get around to playing this some day, but hearing about OCD awards makes me sad because I will still be compulsive about getting them. Unless... well I have the boxed version. Are these awards only on Steam? Then I just skip them if so!

I finished Kirby's Dream Land 2 for like the 15th time (except this time I did the boss rush and bonus mode to perfection), because I was bored and needed to relax. I think the game is really just merited on nostalgia because it's ridiculously easy until like the last 5%. It seemed awesome when I was younger though. This is not to say it's a bad game, it's just more about having fun than some kind of challenge, I guess almost like all Kirby games (except the non-platformers, all of those seem fucking hard).

Deathspank had some Monkey Island references. This is a million times better than Penny Arcade references. -
I guess I was thinking Third World, San Antonio was maybe located in the underground portion of the city.

Haha, yeah I actually searched for that thread a couple of weeks ago to see everyone's experiences since I'm so late to play these games. I guess I assumed you had finished Metal Gear 2, but I remember you talking about the first one. Did you use maps at all to play the first one? My only problem with the first two Metal Gears is I have to load up a bunch of maps from hint sites with the accepted card keys written on them because I don't like trying every card on every door. Metal Gear 2 compiles them down to three major cards eventually though. I guess I don't consider it cheating exactly because I had played the NES version of Metal Gear, which is pretty inferior, but it came with a map of all of the areas inside the box, making it much less frustrating to get through.

What is going on here?!

And it's yours.

Oh yeah, I had finished Metal Gear 2 about two months back. It was fun to see how adventure game like it was. An item combination is required for the last boss! The plot was kind of shallow compared to other Metal Gear games (besides the original), but the gameplay is great. I mean I had to use a guide for some of the classic game type idiocies (like the snake or owl egg choice), but it was a definitive large improvement over the first MSX title. Now I understand where all the music comes from for the later games. It's weird to first hear these songs after they've been remixed and redone so much. Also the intro movie was very effective. It's too bad the ending scenes couldn't follow suit. I guess this is how games have always been for the most part though, especially old ones.

Little known fact, but Tex Avery lost one of his eyes from throwing office supplies around the room with his animator friends at Warner Brothers.

Hey does anyone here who lives in Austin or parts of Texas around it attend the IGDA meetings? I was at one last night, way more interesting and eventful than the Houston ones I've been to, and it was time well spent. I met some people but then it dawned upon me that I probably should have put a heads up on the Thumbs forum first in case I have a chance to meet some people here. I guess maybe next time if anyone goes?

If anyone wants Prince of Persia Classic for free from PSN only, I have a code that came with my Forgotten Sands special edition. It might only work for UK users, but it's worth a shot worldwide. It's the regular 12 alphanumerical code, but I don't want to try to see if it works for the U.S. because I don't want to waste the code.

Thanks Kolzig for pointing that out! I'm going to try that on my next playthrough.

I want to see if everyone else enjoys Thongs of Virtue as much as I did. I estimate it is 150% more fun!

Happy 87th birthday to Snooglebum! I hope your years don't catch up with you yet! You've still got many remixes to do!

Late to this conversation, but wanted to add a major point to the differences. Grim Fandango's trailer goes to lengths to say something about the world it's in and what kind of atmosphere or characters might be in it. Of course the world of Grim Fandango is bizarre and needs explaining, but there is no setting at all established in L.A. Noire's trailer. Part of this helps get the intrigue going. Also since the dialogue is broken up to explain character traits, the plot, and how things operate in Grim Fandango through the characters and the throwback titles inbetween, the trailer comes off very well rounded for also not showing gameplay (since Cliffy B.'s complaining about that). The thing about video game trailers with little gameplay shown means to me they are marketing a story. Whatever was going on with L.A. Noire had me burst out laughing the more it went on because I get the feeling they are serious (?) about whatever their story is and are really trying to up the "bad ass" factor. What I saw was a trailer of a bunch of ugly looking guys shouting every cop movie catchphrase ever at eachother in rapid fire while some bangs, explosions, and screams were inserted inbetween. I really hope this is just brilliant parody!
