Hey that looks great! Is it a beat 'em up or a multiplayer platformer? Both? I should probably check out your game the fateful day I am able to buy a 360.

It didn't fully sink in the first time around, but this is the best post in this thread!

Yeah, there really isn't an art director which to speak of. They just kind of call on people they used to work with (I knew one guy from an old job) and then lay out instructions. I was thinking of offering to do some kind of art direction role to tie things together, but the game would need almost a complete overhaul to make artwork match other like artwork and be cohesive in that department and I'm not even sure the game is worth that effort. Also, yeah, that GUI is the worst thing ever. Thanks for the kind words though, Noyb. I'm hoping framed right, some of the artwork I did is very suitable for throwing in my image gallery of worthwhile artwork for employers to hopefully one day bite at.

Hey Thrik happy birthday!

I'd rather not mention it because I'm afraid that the guys designing and programming it might find their way here via a google search and see how disappointed I am, but you can probably find out what it is by clicking around on my website.

God damn, I picked a bad time to play through all the Metal Gear Solid series. I should have waited, but I definitely won't mind playing 3 again at all, 3DS and HD. I'm crossing my fingers that the Metal Gear Solid 2 version won't be the Substance version so I don't have to do all of that extra shit all over again, but I'm betting it will be. I guess I'll be really good at it from the getgo this time if so.

There's No Time to Explain, and Kickstarter
syntheticgerbil replied to DanJW's topic in Video Gaming
Oh god, I was about to turn it off within the first 10 seconds and I'm so glad that I didn't. This looks to be like great fun. Also on the Kickstarter page, they show a mega buff future guy. What will happen then?! -
So I've been contributing artwork to this game for months now and I'm kind of regretting it because my stuff isn't meshing with the rest of how the game looks from the other artists (all of it looks bad to me except stuff output by this one artist) and it appears the gameplay is pissing people off. I honestly have not played much of the game outside of the first two areas and have just been contributing the art when I have time, so I wasn't fully aware of how the game was going. I thought the game seemed like a good idea, if not seriously dated, so I figured it would just be pretty niche, like a genre fan game type thing. I didn't think it'd start getting buzz on major sites. Everytime this game shows up, the comments are just vicious. I don't really find fault in what they are saying, but I hope at the very least my artwork is okay to good for many. Somehow I don't think that will matter and I feel like I've just been wasting my time. Other problem is are the designers are nice guys and I guess in a way I didn't want to disappoint them at the same time. I didn't really factor in my own disappointment and was kind of excited just to be working on anyone's game. I feel bad just for agreeing with the vicious comments and this is all kind of embarrassing to me.

I'll do it if you pay to relocate me to France. I'm so unemployed right now.

Happy Thunderbirth!

Weird I posted about that same feeling a couple of pages ago: Yeah, so I may struggle with the novel again one day, but I don't know maybe not.

Finished Ratchet and Clank, LocoRoco, and Prince of Persia Harem Adventures recently. I think I need to do a post on Ratchet and Clank somewhere (still missing my follow-up post on Whispered World) but I feel really lazy about typing my thoughts right now, sorry guys (an apology just in case there's an individual who waits for my opinion, haha yeah).

Oh no, it appears THI was a playable beta and I completely missed out on it!

Happy birthday Ben!

Oh I should probably note the only reason I'm bitching about Persona is because the director for 3 and 4 is the Catherine director as well, meaning by my designer following rules, I would need to eventually go back and play Persona 3 and 4, which I really don't want to spend hundreds of hours on. I'm not against JRPG mechanics, but I usually hate the story and characters and they need to stay shorter. I prefer Zelda games, I suppose even though many would not consider them RPGs, which would be correct I think.\ Er... but yeah I guess Catherine is not even an RPG anyway, but an adventure game with puzzle levels thrown between adventuring parts? Seems like Insecticide in that manner almost exactly except in that game shooter/platformer levels were thrown between adventure areas. I really loved Insecticide (haven't played the unfinished PC one, just the DS one) so for whatever reason I think this is a mix I would like a long with the weird as hell story.

I get the feeling I would love this game in spite of the pervert factor of it. Thing is it's by the Persona people and I don't want to sink any time in playing those as well. I'm wondering if Catherine will have the insane amount of required hours of play. The adventure game plus weird nightmare puzzles levels are great and the style here is very nice with great atmosphere. I want to find out what everyone thinks of this game.

I just finished LocoRoco after months of struggling and I wish it had stayed as good as the first few hours of play. It just turned into this difficult frustrating mess for me. The biggest problem being levels without any kind of checkpoints. The rest was all neat though and I loved most of the level design and gameplay mechanics outside of the ridiculously frustrating parts and places where things were missible, causing you to have to start the whole level over again. The game also resets everything you collect outside of the blue guys every level, with the part pieces being random, causing many levels to need multiple playthroughs. But this is me playing where I have to collect everything and get everything, so I imagine those that would play it like normal people won't get so annoyed. I'm really hoping LocoRoco 2 fixes all of the problems I had, because I'm about to just be done with this series otherwise.

I thought Raynal was working on something at Ubisoft right now. Did that end?

I don't know how to help, Vimes, but I would love subtitles of this documentary as well (I'm assuming they are English). I would be very interested in what Chahi has to say here, as it looks very in depth.

My graphics card has kicked the proverbial
syntheticgerbil replied to MrHoatzin's topic in Idle Banter
Yeah I've uninstalled and reinstalled, both the older version that were on the disc that came with the card and the newest version on the AMD site. There was another thread I had found online that had me download multiple programs, reboot in safe mode, and clean all remnants of Catalyst Control and AMD products from my hard drive and registry, but upon reinstalling the program yet again, same thing. I somehow suspect maybe it's because I'm still on XP and the compatability with that version of Windows now sucks. -
My graphics card has kicked the proverbial
syntheticgerbil replied to MrHoatzin's topic in Idle Banter
To hijack again here, I recently bought an AMD video card with a Best Buy gift certificate I was saving to use when the price was right, but they Catalyst Control System does not work! I'm on XP and I did have CCC working for my previous crappy onboard video card, but I installed a newer version for this card which just has CCC.exe shown running in the Task Manager for about 20 seconds and then ending. I just simply cannot get the program to load. The video card works fine however, and certain 3D games that were slow now work like a charm. I've looked around multiple forums and tried many different ideas, but no help. I just gave up because the card works anyway, but would like to be able to adjust things like the anti-aliasing if possible. Maybe is there an alternative program I can use? -
Awww, everybody wins!

So any word if Sony is going reimburse developers in any way for their service being down for a month? After all, part of the importance of the PSN store was to provide demos, trailers, and other various promotional crap for the games that are playable on their system, not to mention the downloadable games that have been completely unavailable.

I wait until people at Idlethumbs post any links they find are relevant for everyone here to read.

I'm guessing they requested the information and that the judge did not hand it over just for the sake of it, but I suppose it could be seen differently.
