It's well deserved. I would love for a company like AT&T to burn to the ground, but I know it will never happen. If there were actually competition here in the United States, we might have okay internet speeds for everyone, affordable service, and no caps (which is something recently announced for users monthly, another great scheme to fuck EVERYBODY). I have so much disdain for this company right now. I'm really sick of just using their complete shit DSL because I can't get anyone else in the area. The speeds are atrocious and get no where near as promised. Their customer service is a joke. Every single one of their business practices are iffy from their services fees to their buyout of everyone possible on the globe. Sony ought to be ashamed of themselves, but what does it matter, it's just another way-too-big company fucking around and making deals. Business as usual. Rant over.

It's side-scrolling, I guess I accidentally left that part out. Haha I've sorry there's not a ton I remember about the weapons besides you would have extra rocket type guns added to the top and bottom of your ship, increasing the ammo you shot simultaneously. There was also another short part where you fly about and around a large battleship shooting its turrets. It's a possibly '90-'92 and in DOS. It had 256 colors.

I wish I could find this one side view space shmup called Keon or Zeon or something. It was a shareware version with a bunch of cycling gradients and ended with a jungle level that I think had an alien head. There were also a lot of weird add-ons for your ship you could get when killing enemies that would drop power-ups.

I'm still going to play 2 on good faith from Sly Cooper, but if this is still mediocre trash this time around, I might be done. Luckily the powers this time at least look much better, which was the best part of the first game, so that should be a perk. Hopefully this time the story is not a bunch of ill-thought out amateur garbage with useless moral points. I hate when an evil choice is just all dependent on you killing an innocent, most people who are bad or evil aren't like that straight up and that veers more into serial killer territory.

Very cute, seems like some mother fucking Bucky O'Hare.

I beat that last year, it's a ton of fun. I imagine many were confused when it was first released (and now) thinking it was just a Game Boy version of the original arcade. While that's in there, it's immensely expanded upon, and a game with completely different Mario physics and puzzle solving that isn't too hard and a lot of fun to play. Does the 3DS finally correctly emulate Super Game Boy? That's the way I played it and I was mimic yelling those annoying "help" enhanced sounds effects from Mario's-other-lover for weeks.

Probably, there's a beach or two, but I'd need a refresher on what the mirror game is. Also everyone who hasn't played it yet, start stealing from the store!
-
Damn, I was hoping for that Playstation One release.

Somehow I knew that fact about Robin Williams long before that commercial ever came out. Not even sure why or how. STOP CHEATING THE CRANE GAME! You get an extra dungeon in the DX version though! The tiling of the colors could have been much better but I expect garish weird coloring from Game Boy Color games, so it's no big deal.

So is this a full release or download only? The end of the trailer says XBOX, XBLA, PSX, PS3, PSN, and PC. I'm so fucking confused.
-
Wow, Kolzig how have you played games up to now? Seems like that'd be painful.
-
Wait is this version of Link's Awakening in 3D now? I'm confused. Are the graphics better?

I was trying to find comparison text on that, or just something that springs to mind, because now I'm wondering what version of Frankenstein I read years ago. I don't know if I still have the book though to check. It would be at my parents or something. Also for how classic Frankenstein is supposed to be, it felt like a very disjointed novel, even though most was enjoyable until the very end.

I guess I never dealt with the slow second half most talk about since I would just sweep the whole land after every new major gadget or the cannon until I found the next round of secrets. By the time I made it to the Triforce Quests, I had nearly every island mapped out and most little subquests finished so it wasn't such a large dose when the game started making you search every nook and cranny. But er... that is not to say I would have preferred three more dungeons over squares with only giant squids, another duplicate cannon fort, or the ones with a tiny speck of land that has a heart piece.

You couldn't control the VMU while it was in the controller though. It just displayed little animations or information while you played. It was pretty awesome that you could play little minigames you downloaded when it wasn't in the controller however, but it wasn't really on the same level as the Gamecube/Game Boy Advance interaction. Unfortunately, as Sno said, there was large potential for branching minigames and side quest type stuff that really only Sega and Japanese companies were interested in developing. I think the Playstation might have had a similar type of memory card that was only released in Japan. Not really sure what games it was used for but I remember reading a small bit of information on it last year.

I'm all ears too! That's alright I'm really not bothered by that sort of stuff since it just prevents me from making the mistake again. Was this the boss where you had to be a giant and if you ran out of magic or did not get the infinite magic stuff before hand you were just fucked and stuck tiny on the screen? If I recall there was no way to exit and you couldn't be killed and try again because you were too tiny for the flying snakes to hit you. Also the extremely long side quest that takes place over the course of the three days with the engaged couple was complete bullshit as well. I had to try that one three times because you are suddenly dropped into a situation at the very end of the quest where you control two characters (which you did no where else in the entire game) and making one mistake means having to start the sidequest all over from the beginning. Those two parts were the worst about the game but the rest was just being efficient and anyway you were repaid for your troubles for 100%ing by getting to be Fierce Diety Link and having a super simple final boss fight. This is now a really good Zelda thread. Thanks E3!

TALKIN' TO THE MAYOOOOOOOOOOOR!:clap::tup:

I really had no idea what penultimate meant, I just wanted to say it all cool. Total failure. I tried to use this to talk to you guys for E3 and then I realized I actually have to own at least one game on Steam in order to chat. Boo Valve, boo!

Complete agreement. I'm perfectly okay with that, it doesn't necessarily have to be on any hypothetical console. Haha, I think this is actually an easy fix (outside of that annoying fish boss) and all it really takes is being able to utilize the owl statues to save and NOT have your save there erased upon coming back. I got around that anyway by using the memory card copy trick on the Gamecube port though. Yeah, I don't know, I don't want to tell you to keep playing trying different games in the series if you don't already enjoy what you've been playing, but the 3D ones are sort of a different animal outside of similar design structures. Just the operation and controls take way different skills. I personally am not that thrilled with Ocarina, even though everyone has labeled it the penultimate Zelda game. I rank Majora's Mask and Wind Waker far above it. Some people stick to the 2D or 3D camps, while many like both. If you're interested in seeing if you like 2D Zelda's you might want to try Link to the Past as recommended earlier. The other Game Boy Color ones are all solid too, as well as Minish Cap.

Yeah, I mean, I just kind of went over the only three games I've ever used my GBA/GC cable for (Actually I used it for Sands of Time and it's only good for unlocking levels in the GBA version, no actual interactivity). I felt the most successful of all was Four Swords Adventures, but it appears most of you guys liked the Tingle control for Wind Waker. I did use him to find secret messages and treasure, but all I did was just stop playing on controller 1 and sweep the area with Tingle for a bit on the GBA before switching back. I just didn't find it anywhere as involved a two player experience as Mad Trax in Rayman 3 or FSA. On the other hand, I haven't played Pacman Vs. Sounds like I should get on that. Nevertheless, I didn't mean to say the connection cable and set up was a bad idea, just that it was very rarely used and probably difficult for designers to think of good game design ideas to utilize it. Two out of the three major times I have used the connection set up were pretty awesome. Admission was really the price of a cable (Or it came with Four Swords), and I assumed most people already owned a GBA, so it was a good deal when used and not too much of a hassle.
-
I though it worked very well with Four Swords Adventures, but it's hard to think of it really applying in many other aspects. Besides a minigame for Rayman 3 that was pretty ingenious with the GBA/GC connectivity, I can't think of using that cable for much else. There was a way to move Tingle around on the GBA for Wind Waker, but it was pretty damn useless and would not have been fun for any second player in any sort of seriousness. Going by what worked for me in Rayman 3 and Four Swords, I think the key to that sort of setup is to offer something different on the handheld screen in terms of gameplay and look that engages in an entirely different way. Maybe a Henry Hatsworth game would work remarkably well on such a setup?

I think they have just been severely busy and keep timing out. It's hard to use the store without getting that stupid numerical error.

Kind of going off of this into a tangent on how I feel about game stories. Story complaints are always viable, but really I think about 90% of the games I play are not for the story. To me, most stories in games exist solely for nicely tying the game together and giving it a drive with a finished feel. For a game's story to be good and a drawing point to the game, it has to be damn engaging and have well rounded characters I care about. Hardly any game has this even if they are trying. Usually you either get dumb plots or overwritten messes of text, dialogue, and useless garbage. Because the major drawing point on Zelda is the familiarity in the design and world, I find it weird for people to expect for a completely new tale or formula each game or for it to change so drastically. Traditionally in the 80s and 90s, game series were about more of the same but better and more interesting. This is still where Nintendo is coming from for almost all series and it's not necessarily wrong or bad. So to me the drawing points of games consist of three different categories: design, art direction, and story. It's nearly impossible for any game to do all three greatly but that's never required for me to like a game. Any one category done well can get me to like the game, but the other two must be passable or a bit above average. Only if one category sucks, can the game be brought down. So while possibly there are many adventure games with the best stories around in games, many of them have downright silly or stupid design or uninspired art (Sierra for the most part there). But then there's also adventures where you get more out of the humor and wacky puzzles than a story you actually care about and are engaged in and that's fine too. So, in respects to the Zelda design like Miffy is saying here, it is the most important drawing point by far. This goes for almost any of the major Nintendo titles that weren't farmed out. HAL games are like this too. I couldn't really give a shitload of shit about Kirby saving rainbow ass world once again but I will have a fun time doing so. No one expects Kirby to stop sucking and blowing either. Zelda game designs are slick and move in a very smooth pace. The design in almost all Zelda's keeps up the same rate of engagement where you finish one thing but started another thing inbetween that you are now driven to finish. Getting every new item is a prize as you take note of all of the curious places you didn't understand or couldn't fully explore in the game. Those are in addition to the dungeons which feature a bunch of puzzles themselves. The bosses are not there to be a hit fest and bullet hell type difficulty but to be a sort of puzzle in themselves to figure out each time what is the proper item to use, how to get to their weak spot, and what kind of patterns you have to keep up. The bosses usually start out ridiculously easy and then end up pretty tricky. Majora's Mask has been the only Zelda game so far (Still need to play Twilight Princess and up) to add such an extra layer of complicated design and it seemed like many hated it for it. I agree to some point, it's kind of stressful and a lot to overcome, but then many liked it for the reason it was hated. Either way, Nintendo is probably not doing that again with Zelda and may tweak the design in some other way. They usually do each iteration and that's part of the excitement in addition to the elements that make you feel at home. Then there's Zelda 1 and 2 for NES, which both kind of play like ass. But Nintendo is clearly way beyond the design pitfalls of those games. Also in full agreement with this part. Nintendo seems to really be cashing in when they farm out their stuff to third parties more than anything because those games can sometimes end up like garbage, but any of their first party games or subsidiary developed games by Intelligent Systems, Alphadream, and the like will have a a layer of polish and thought put into them that is well above most non cash-in titles from studios really trying let alone regular crap cash-in games like ones spun off from 3D talking animal movies. So like this may be true to some extent: But I'd still check the developer first. Hudson Soft is kind of in the business of mediocre tie-in games, even with Bomberman. I'm curious Orvidos, when you say you have put 4 or 5 hours in to Zelda, which one were you playing? Did I miss this somewhere? As much as I love Michel Ancel, this quote irked me. I'm just thinking, what next generation? How can anyone possibly keep making new systems so soon except for Nintendo who was sort of required to go HD at this point? I expect this current generation to be extremely long as I'm sure most hope.

I'm thinking what I'm going to do is just get rid of the Wii when I get a WiiU in three or four years and buy another Gamecube, since I had traded my old one in when getting the Wii.

Holy shit, there is a ton of stuff going on in just one level. I've seen some other videos as well the last few days and these environments are all beautiful.
