  1. Fund Tim Schafer's next game YOURSELF!

Best part. I finally sleep for like 13 hours last night and so much Double Fine stuff just continued onward. Lovely everyone is so into this company. Awwww. Anyway, I don't have money, so broke right now. My next paycheck is coming next week though, so I think I can donate $30 and get all that making of shit. But I don't know if there's a time limit on Kickstarter. Anyone know?
  2. Psychonauts on Steam

I'm kind of disheartened by a suggestions for "Psychonauts 2" because I think this universe would be perfect for continuous episodic content as suggested before by Double Fine (or you guys?). I already played the original in bite size chunks as it is because of the level structure and different play styles employed. I found this made the game uneven, but in an episodic context it's perfect. Plus Double Fine could make more money off of chunks instead of a big budget game title that drops to $20 in price in a matter of three months.
  3. Life

This is on Netflix! Going to work the day away with it on!
  4. Life

What is that show? I have a lot of the vinyl toys on his desk, embarrassingly enough. He also has a Jim Woodring poster.
  5. Life

Wow, now I don't feel so awkward about my major breakdown confessions months ago on this thread as it seems a lot of you guys deal with the same. Kindred thumbs, man.
  6. Londonweek

I swear one day I'm going to have the money to fly to the UK for some arbitrary meet up like this. I don't care if it's fifteen years from now, I get the feeling these forums will still be here.
  7. Life

So I keep making this amateur artist mistake where I promise delivery of art assets sooner than is possible because I don't want to disappoint people with a long time estimate. I know the deal is ALWAYS to give a longer time estimate so you are always set up to deliver early, but I get worried I'm giving too long of an estimate. There's the other thing where I feel like I could make my shorter time estimates if I could not procrastinate or get distracted when I should be working, even if I did put in a good 10 hours in a day. I guess I also feel like stressing myself out makes me work better but then I'm in for late nights of little sleep... like right now, where I'm reading this forum instead of finishing this crap for tomorrow. I've really gotta figure out how to make this work for my personality type soon so that I can look super professional in all cases.
  8. Narcissist PUAs

I can't resist saying this, but Yufster, what's up with your dad writing all of that in some kind of weird poetry spacing? But the rest... fuuuuuuck. I'll throw my hat in the therapy ring, just in case, even without any kind of major neurotic breakdowns or freakouts. Sorry to hear about all of this.
  9. Happy Action Theater

Yeah I wasn't so sure of this game/app when I first heard of it as it seemed like a weird follow up to the last batch of games. Had no idea it was already out, then gave Thunderpeel's video about a minute's worth of watching before somehow getting sucked into looking at it for 15 minutes. I then decided I better turn it off because I don't want to ruin the fun when I buy it! Next paycheck, I will be messing around with this crap. I'm sure my girlfriend will get a kick out of me acting like an idiot sitting in lava or doing lewd poses with clones.
  10. ********* Smash Crew

Just look at this. This silly censor has just destroyed any publicity possible for this game at Idleforums.
  11. Happy Birthday!

Did you guys notice there is a ridiculous amount of birthdays today?! Happy birthday you nice masses!
  12. Life

Two of my good friends who were dating for four years just broke up. That sucks, they were really good together... or so I thought. I don't think I've ever cared about someone else's relationship before, but I actually feel sad for them. Also my post finishing one liner: I don't know whose house I'm gonna crash at when I'm in Houston now.
  13. Narcissist PUAs

I am glad you're at least able to have fun with this and not be weighed down by a bunch of bad experiences at an early age. I get the feeling it messes up a lot of other women to keep having experiences with these types of guys whether it's family, boyfriends, or friends. I've never had really any lady friends until adulthood but I don't get the need to be scared of women and then try to control them. Women are lots of fun and often much easier to talk too. Then they tend to be easier on the eyes than male friends, too! Wins.
  14. Narcissist PUAs

I'm not going to read any of these, the posts I can see here are all very upsetting. I absolutely hate it when some guy I know has some bad luck with a women and results to this pick up artist manipulative male shit to deal with their own pain. Then there's those that have always been that way.
  15. Gifts - Stuff for Free

I'll PM it to you when I get around the code sheet again. Hopefully I can remember this evening but if not, tomorrow?
  16. Soul Calibur V

The problem is, too much T and not enough A in video gaems. This is why the ESRB got rid of the K-A rating.
  17. Gifts - Stuff for Free

Anyone want a download code for Fruit Ninja Kinect? Because I don't. I also have an extra Uncharted 2 Game of the Year code with the multiplayer extras if anyone wants it.
  18. Oddworld Stranger's Wrath

Yeah I mean Oddysee is definitely worth playing, it's just you can just conveniently skip it if you want since all of the back story is covered in an intro video that you can decide whether you want to watch or not. I think Exoddus is just a meatier game. It's about twice as long as Oddysee if I remember.
  19. Oddworld Stranger's Wrath

I think Exoddus would be a better place to start. It has a nicer save system than Abe's Oddysee, has much more fleshed out ideas and inventive use of the gamespeak and possession, and a larger story. It also has a video you can watch which quickly recaps everything that happened in the first game. Stranger is a good place to start if you like shooting more than playing platformers, as it is unconnected to the story of the previous games and can easily be played alone by anyone without them missing anything important.
  20. Oddworld Stranger's Wrath

Yeah that's Lorne Lanning. The funny part of Stranger's Wrath is I see in the credits that he did the voice work for almost all of the characters in the game. I would have never have guessed. One thing I do really appreciated about all of the Oddworld games are the analogies of native American suffering, environmental issues, and corporate greed. Stranger's Wrath of course still had it's fair share.
  21. Life

Shit, I know how this feels, but I didn't really love the job where the manager changed. It was fine enough before the new guy showed up though in which everything became unorganized and went to shit. I can't imagine how much it must suck on a job you loved, were interested in the material, and got to see rarer gems of films. Plus being a projectionist is just cool all around.
  22. Prince Of Persia

Not sure where this goes, I couldn't seem to find a thread specifically on this game, but I finished Prince of Persia 2008 a few weeks ago. I appreciated the art direction and updated mechanics, as well as the animation and effects being incredibly beautiful, but the game fell incredibly short on gameplay and story. Gameplaywise, I felt like I was playing a Rare game more than half the time. There wasn't really cinematic platforming this time where the environments are somewhat believable and part of you scaling them, there were buttons on walls with useless magical powers, and I spent a lot of time collecting a bunch of light seeds for no reason. The enviroments just because a series of hooks and crap to scale with timed parts of black blobs. There's no rhyme or reason to it. I expect it more out of an older platformer, but the world was less cohesive than some made in the late 90s, most notable Rayman 2 even. The new button mapping was also useless, as they combined too much crap into one button while using the other buttons for combat only. This led to me doing wall runs incorrectly as they are no longer mapped to R1 and instead jumping way too much on accident. The open world part was useless, meaning you could go four ways with almost no change in difficulty. The combat was incredibly simplified outside of the combo system, which was more beautiful, fluid intuitive, and animated than ever, but you just fight one enemy at a time now. This might be more interesting if fighting the one enemy weren't a big deal, but there about 6 total enemies in the game, including the bosses, which you fight ad nauseum. The never die system where Elika always saves had some critics crying that the game was too easy, but in reality the game became more frustrating with this in place of the rewind system. Your check points back to where you were last on solid ground can be incredibly far back and everytime I made a little mistake I wish I could just rewind a little bit and correct it. I find this much more punishing than running out of sands of time. The story was just complete crap. Nothing happens until the near the end, there's a cliffhanger and then nothing. The Prince is incredibly unlikeable now with the same sarcastic mouth as Nathan Drake (played by the same voice actor) except unlike Drake, the Prince just acts like an ass to everything in the game and has no parts where he is human or serious. The last Prince in Sands of Time and Two Thrones was a much better mixture and there is nothing wrong with sincerity sometimes. The epilogue DLC added some interesting stuff to the ending but just ending with an even worse cliffhanger. There was also no new enemies in the epilogue and the only interesting part was the harder dungeon with a lot of puzzles, all of which were beyond the actual game itself. Just really disappointed on a game I thought I'd enjoy. Maybe it's not fair to compare it to the Sands of Time games as a lot of the mechanics are different, but I'm not sure what anyone was supposed to expect otherwise.
  23. Calling all Thumbs! (I could do with some help)

My guess is that it is an easy way for animators to call upon animation nested inside a symbol through the looping section in the properties. It being called a "graphic symbol" makes no sense to me whatsoever. You can call in a series animations through frame labels nested within movie clips with an instance name through script, but that's beyond my understanding, I just know how to ship it off if like that if the programmer wants it that way.
  24. Calling all Thumbs! (I could do with some help)

The most I can gather is that they are almost fully just an animation tool, as you also cannot apply filter effects to graphic symbols. I default everything as a movie clip until I start nesting animation, which is when I create a graphic symbol and can then call up the frames within. Not sure why one symbol can be multipurpose or not, but oh well. Sometimes I also switch an object temporarily from a movie clip to a graphic symbol along the timeline (or vice versa) depending on what I need. This is a pretty handy thing only I think CS5 (Maybe 4? don't remember) can do. Programmers can't see instance names on object nested inside graphic symbols either.
  25. The whole Foxconn thing

This is where I first heard about the whole Foxconn debacle, great episode. I almost bought a Foxconn motherboard two years ago, but I suppose it doesn't matter, because as you guys say, I probably have other things manufactured there. I don't know what you'd do something about this, I really just wish outsourcing to other countries with a lower standard of living would stop. It's always to save a buck and I think our tech needs in the U.S. are more than a little insane (Speaking as someone who really isn't good at buying newer technology). But then there's the difficulties as Rodi said, so I get all sad faced.
