  1. The Electronic Three: 2012

    I don't understand...
  2. The Electronic Three: 2012

Wait, why is this in Idle Banter?
  3. Tex Murphy - Project Fedora Kickstarter

I think Martian Memorandum is without a doubt, the worst Tex Murphy game. The graphics are just ass, the puzzles are boring, and the writing is way too cheesy. It just feels so incredibly cheap and broken in many ways. Mean Streets is charming in a way, outside of the flight sim garbage. I wouldn't recommend anyone start with the series below Under a Killing Moon, especially because Overseer retells the first game as well.
  4. Tex Murphy - Project Fedora Kickstarter

Wow, this one sure obtained a fourth of it's funding quick. Even though the FMV game fad produced a major amount of utter shit, Tex Murphy was always top notch in the way it juggled the low production values in a B movie way, keeping the serious to a low. Yet when the game got into it's melancholy noir parts, Chris Jones always acted it out well, doing better than some of the other more professional actors that appeared in the games. Guy hasn't seemed to age much either. I want to see this one too. This is the year to spend hundred of dollars on Kickstarter games I guess. Oh well... Reading it a little bit more though, this one is subsidized by their three previous downloadable titles that I haven't gotten around to buying or playing yet. So hitting the $45 mark gets you extra games. This sweetens the sadness of losing another hundred.
  5. Life

I resurrected the Happy Birthday thread!
  6. Happy Birthday!

    Hey Kroms, happy birthday!
  7. Post your face!

Hey that is a very nifty shirt you have there, OssK. Good Work!
  8. Life

There probably is some sort of technicality in the Texas law books that allows you to get away with it, I'm sure.
  9. Life

I want to buy a house someday. I need to save for the first payment. I thought this duplex I was in was so nice until loud asshole truck-driving beer guzzling rednecks moved in next door about year ago. Back and forth on their stupid subwoofer even after we had a long conversation about how subwoofers shake surfaces and YES I can hear it every time. Also sick of waking up at 1 AM with a bunch of dudes yelling "WOooooo!" every 5 minutes. Landlord doesn't seem to care much. The thing I find especially dumb about this situation is that the apartments I lived in before coming to Austin were way more peaceful than living in an actual place with small garage and a yard. People just knew how to treat other people who lived in close quarters. And rant done.
  10. The threat of Big Dog

That link is dead. Probably for good measure.
  11. Please, tell me...

I do it solely to spite Roger Ebert.
  12. Whoops, fucked that up. Disregard anything I have said because I'm now just confused that another game was at some point announced, and now I've just been posting in the wrong thread and everything and will figure out the differences at some point when I remember to. When I said this: I was in the middle of clicking around this forum thread: http://www.doublefine.com/forums/viewthread/6853/ where the lumberjack is running around in the desaturated land of trees. However, I vaguely remember a time (must have been a Thursday...) when I did click on the link in the very first of post of the thread saying to myself, "hmm, interesting," which I realize now that I'm revisiting what the hell I was saying in the first place. Did I just post in the wrong thread? Who was linking me to the Action forums with the Lumberjack? I don't understand. I'll buy this one too though! Puzzle pieces with doctors and Evan Dickens! Hey no, that was some good reading crammed among this thread of light comments. Totally worth it.
  13. Two Guys from Andromeda (Space Quest) Reunion

Hey, just because you are spoiled with your new widescreen aspect ratios and high resolutions doesn't mean you have to rain on our 486 DOS parade.
  14. Two Guys from Andromeda (Space Quest) Reunion

I guess this one does not involve Replay Games as there is no mention? Yet another $100 pledge required for what I actually want. Ergh. I actually wish I could get the Let's Play commentary, as that seems like it would be really amusing but there's no way I can afford $250 for that.
  15. Jane Jensen's Pinkerton Road CSG Kickstarter

NOW THEY'D BETTER DELIVER OR ELSE!
  16. Survey

    This was fun! Bite size!
  17. Movie/TV recommendations

I actually pretty well liked The Killing season 1, I managed to get pretty engrossed and watch most of the episodes on Netflix in a day. But so far I've seen about 4 episodes of season 2 (which I had to download illegally since there is no streaming site that offers them and I don't have cable), and the major issue is that I have to wait weekly and remember the details from episode to episode, so I'll probably wait until the finale and watch them all to catch up. So far, it's been harder to follow that season 1 in a nonsense way and it has gotten more outlandish. Feels like a show I wouldn't like now, but maybe it'll pick up again. I'm really sick of the politician's plot line. All he does is whine in bed now.
  18. Beyond Better & Evil!

Why is it still the same news? If we have to wait until the next consoles it will be like 2013-14, assuming all new consoles just don't bomb the instant they premiere. I'm hoping for maybe just a PC game exclusive at this point. This is really getting silly, but as long as they are working on it...
  19. I think all the new play control games have been made widescreen from what I've seen, as everything in the Metroid Trilogy is now widescreen. Wikipedia says so at least.
  20. Life

Got a raise for working on Facebook games, I like the extra money but I still hate working the "crack dealing" market of games. Seriously, director of design made the distinction in a meeting that we are smart like crack dealers where we don't consume our own product, only peddle it. The weed dealers are the lower rung. Guf.
  21. The greatest headlines in the world (and other weird news stories)

Oh man, the horny Jesus one was just so different than anything I expected on any of the words.
  22. How long will you give a game to "convince" you?

I don't usually quit games since I go by the designer and often find something decent or more. Sometimes I'll force myself through something for the sake of it, but that's often rare. If I do give up on a game, like trying newer games I might enjoy, I usually give it to the halfway point at least. Just check a walkthrough if I'm not enjoying it and figure which checkpoint I should make it to. If things don't turn around I'm done. I feel like 30 minutes of time is just not enough to fully understand a game or give it a fair shake. Many story driven games tend to start out slow, but that could just be from years of adventure gaming confirming so for me, while others like to be wowed more instantly. If a game is not going to appeal to me, I just figure it out ahead of time by watching videos and trailers before I even waste time installing it.
  23. Can anyone use Dreamweaver?

I thought Dreamweaver was almost made solely for people who needed websites but did no not need to know how make them professionally, like artists (unless you're an artist that works on websites). But a lot of artists do just have their portfolio on a wordpress or blogger now anyway. Then after that you repost your work to CGSociety, DeviantArt, Vimeo, Facebook, and whatever else. I think if this is what you need Dreamweaver for, everyone in this thread is overcomplicating it unless you are looking to become a professional web designer or are interested in having a slicker portfolio site than most artists with an image gallery and contact info. Also I seem to know a lot of people who use Cargo Collective for their websites, but I don't really like the given templates myself.
