  1. Leisure Suit Larry in "gimme your money"

Yeah I just played the Andromeda guys' little mini adventure thing. Rough, but it's nice I already have something to mess with with little dialogue quips, very neat. On Paul Trowe, outside of his original apology (where he never actually apologizes to Chris Pope), I think it's more concerning that he's running around with troll accounts disparaging all of these projects back and forth, if that is indeed him (looks like Mixnmojo confirmed at least one troll account). Honestly, maybe Mandel and Lowe would do better without Replay Games in the picture at all. If I'm not mistaken Replay Games is most likely Paul Trowe in an office alone in Austin (I checked, there is an address in an office building), but the production is all going to be done by Adventure Mob and Al Lowe, Leslie Balfour, and Josh Mandel are working remotely. Furthermore on the Chris Pope vs. Paul Trowe drama, while I find Pope to be more dry and stuttery in the developer interviews and commentary than Trowe, he is a huge Space Quest fan and knows it inside and out and understands the proper questions to ask on what fans would already want to know more about that they don't already. So now I've got a wealth of useless trivia on how Sierra operated and conflicted on the inside plus the personal junk between the Two Guys that goes beyond Murphy's infamous recent interview. With Paul Trowe, he had those three fireside chats with Al Lowe where the guy did not seem to have much of an inkling of back story or making of Larry, but kept proclaiming, "You heard it hear first guys!" In reality almost everything Al Lowe has said about Larry is not new, it's all been in either in that book that came with the old collection, all of the game manuals, or Al Lowe's website. Just really not impressed. It's funny on the Space Quest 6 commentary, you get more filled in about Mandel and Lowe's work on the Larry remake than anything Replay Games announces on its own. Apparently many puzzles are going to be rewritten and remade for modern adventure players, which is nice. Anyway yeah, I just get miffed when people get kind of a dream job and let it go to their head or make it about themselves. None of the fans of any of these designers actually care about Paul Trowe or Chris Pope, sorry to say. Both of their jobs consist of marketing as professionally as they can and delivering in a knowledgeable manner.

Yeah I saw all of that, such a weird mess. I gave way too much for this project anyway even though I was all grumpy and skeptical as detailed earilier. It's really just the Al Lowe factor as well as Josh Mandel who I think does a solid job when he doesn't overwrite. Going by your comments on that news page, Thunderpeel, I don't think you can get your money back on an already funded project? I really wish this came out after the Two Guys from Andromeda Kickstarter, because going from their extensive amount of commentary and interviews, it seems they have more passion out of all of the old Sierra guys to get back in and achieve the same dynamic. Out of all of the former Sierra employees, it looks like they will be the only ones who don't meet their goal.

Well think of it this way: I'm sure you have tons of other games you have to catch up on the mean time!
  4. Two Guys from Andromeda (Space Quest) Reunion

You know, I am backing this game and all but this is an amazingly gratuitous spam post. Everyone who is active on this forum has probably already read this thread and have already decided if they want a new game from the Two Guys from Andromeda or not. At the very least, could you have spaced your spam correctly? There's also a bunch of stray letters and weird junk. Also what does the voice of GLaDOS even matter in all of this?!
  5. Disney's Wreck-It Ralph

I'm going to see Brave for the Steve Purcell factor alone, and I'm hoping it won't disappoint. I will at least love looking at bushels of hair the whole movie. I also recently purchased the art book and it has some purty stuff inside. Also Mike Mignola apparently did early environment concept work on brave (dated 2006). Other than that, there's better animated pieces I can spend my time on instead of Disney and Pixar everything. Also, someone else who dislikes Up! I felt I was alone! I agree on all of that completely. I even found the art direction and characters in the movie were all designed very unappealing.
  6. Awesome TED Talks (and similar enlightening lectures)

I used something similar when backpacking once, but it wasn't anywhere as good. I hope this goes everywhere.
  7. Disney's Wreck-It Ralph

I think it's stupid, but that's just me.
  8. Tex Murphy - Project Fedora Kickstarter

It doesn't seem like they do usually but I think I just got 5 updates within the span of yesterday evening.
  9. Two Guys from Andromeda (Space Quest) Reunion

Man, I really wish this Kickstarter had come out earlier, before the Larry one. There seems to be a lot of weird drama going on between Replay games, Wisecrack, and the two guys now. It kind of confirms my suspicions of weirdness afoot in the Larry thread. Yesh. Guess I can't get refund on my Larry pledge now though. I only saw Paul's post (which he apologized for) on the Unofficial Space Quest forums on Monday, which I found very unprofessional to even air dirty laundry of Scott Murphy's personal life in the first place. Mojo collected more info than I could even fathom: http://mixnmojo.com/news/Is-Paul-Trowe-of-Replay-Sabotaging-Other-Kickstarters Also I'm still loving these game commentaries the Two Guys and Chris Pope have been coming out with. It's too bad the video keeps skipping or was recorded out of sync. Also Skype/Google Talk keeps dropping out a lot on people talking and turns into skippy robot voice. I hate it when that happens. I'm glad the Idle Thumbs podcast never went that route. I still need to watch the commentaries for 5 and 6. These make me want to do the Let's Play commentary $250 pledge for the SpaceVenture game, but there's no way I would feel good about myself for doing that. I would have rather been able to afford the Double Fine adventure art and making of book, but gah, still $250. So much money for stuff I want.
  10. The Electronic Three: 2012

The only thing I didn't like about the Last of Us trailer was the stupidly excessive cursing. It started making the game sound badly written if everyone is just yelling FUCKING FUCK BITCH. The brutality was a bit shocking since it was like I was seeing it within Uncharted, but I'm fine with it concerning the subject matter. The beginning of the gameplay trailer gave me hope a lot of the game would involve more exploring, much like a few of the awesome beginning chapters in Uncharted 3. Also, why so many games starring Ellen Paige?
  11. You don't have to play it if an updated version comes out. I personally would love a Majora's Mask 3DS. Near the finish of Ocarina, I was so excited for all of the revamped character models and textures that I was hoping they'd carry it over to a new Majora's Mask. It is too bad it's relegated to the 3DS though, because Nintendo remodeled things for the better way more than any PS3 HD version ever could hope (well except Oddworld, Stranger's Wrath).

You grab that god damn vacation!
  13. Dark Scavenger: Kooky Crafty Chaos!

    Ah, this game, this game...
  14. Life

Sometimes you can just laugh at bad taste. Tasty.
  15. Diablo III

Hey, I know the guy who drew that! He's a really nice dude and has some natty dreads!
  16. Two Guys from Andromeda (Space Quest) Reunion

Oh I see, oops, misread it. It might make it. Leisure Suit Larry did in the last few days, but I think Leisure Suit Larry was always more popular and sold better than Space Quest from what I recall.
  17. Wow, that was a pretty convincing fan trailer. I didn't think it was going to be that amazing before clicking on it.
  18. Two Guys from Andromeda (Space Quest) Reunion

You don't know if it won't, why the sour grapes?
  19. The Electronic Three: 2012

Since I'm not watching this stuff either, what game is this?
  20. Life

Ooooo, I want to be hired through Idlethumbs! As far as places for him to live, would rooming with someone in California for the time being be the best route? Cost of living there is scary as hell.

Those videos look much better than the way I finished them, which was reading various guides on Gamefaqs and trying to understand what exactly they were telling me to do. Mostly I just really don't want to do that 20 minute Tengu fight again. I lucked out having to quickly shoot a stinger at the bucket over the giant guard's head. If I didn't do that, I would die almost instantly. Looks like the link you posted has a walkthrough for it that is kind of current instead of some dude showing off like I had to use before. Thanks a ton for that! I'm also not looking forward to doing extreme mode bosses again. Finding all of the dog tags is no problem really and once you know the layout of the game, it goes super quick. I wish Metal Gear Solid 2 didn't have those few super difficult parts to 100%. Metal Gear Solid 3 is so much more relieving in that there is no reason for me to ever play extreme or do some crazy boss rush to unlock something. They even took out duel mode in the HD version which was the only semblance of true difficulty in Metal Gear Solid 3.
  22. Movie/TV recommendations

Wait, how did you two see Prometheus already?
  23. Two Guys from Andromeda (Space Quest) Reunion

I pledged to this in the first few days and the amount of Kickstarter e-mail updates I'm getting for random things with this project is kind of driving me nuts now. They did make two Space Quest game commentaries to listen to so far though. Fun way to pass the time in the nostalgic sense.

Holy shit,! I did this too on the PS2, but I clocked in at 70 hours and I had to use a walkthrough for many of the later missions. That's damn good timing on your part. I've done about 40% so far for the HD one but I've just been chipping away. I spent forever on the sniper missions and the stupid MGS1 Snake Tengu fight thing. 20 minutes of fighting and just one easy part to screw up at the end... sheesh. But definitely those missions are a great chunk of game play. It's a shame the last 100 get brutal but otherwise I had fun with them.

Thanks for the encouragement and tips guys! There might be a way at some point if she feels like she wants to do menial stuff, but often we are just in the same room when she works on her hobbies and I work on mine. I think she'll understand this more than stuff I've kind of went hyperfocus on in the past. I think you've got me figured out completely. I used to be better at carrying a notepad around but I've been forgetting it the last year.
