See?! It's just like I said earlier, Metal Gear Solid is an opiate to the masses created to distract us all from the real threat and mislead us into thinking it's all a big fiction! Morgellon's fibers are nanomachines!

Oh god, the music symbolism thing is even more nuts. I don't even know where to begin with that. Yeah I meant more like not all marijuana smokers are conspiracy nuts, but more often than not, the conspiracy nuts I meet smoke a ton of weed. It would seem like there's a lot of crazy old men on the internet who are also deeply paranoid and have deep roots in conspiracy culture and probably aren't smoking, but I also don't meet a lot of old men.

Does anyone else have friends or come in to contact with twenty somethings who buy in to this Illuminati controlling the world shit and watch badly produced documentaries on Youtube and bow down to Alex Jones? Also do they tend to smoke a bunch of weed? And on top of that are they libertarian? If anyone is a combination of two or more of those things above, I really just don't want to talk to them ever again. I must say, years ago I sort of bought in to the 9/11 truther stuff and watched Zeitgeist until I just got the feeling that things are much more problematic due to inefficiency in government than any kind of evil master plan by some faceless organization. Also I got more in to the Metal Gear Solid series since and realized this stuff makes great works of fiction (or at least complicated and hard to follow stuff that hooks you) and probably should stay that way. Also I just watched Brazil again recently and realized that it is a very accurate dystopian society because it's controlled by fuck ups and lazy, self absorbed, apathetic people rather than anyone who has a god damn clue what they are doing. Love that movie. Though, problem is I live in Austin, Texas and I come in to contact with these people nearly every time I go to some public place. Really obnoxious. This is not my city at all, but I'm stuck here.
  4. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

Yeah me too, there's nothing better than a huge open area with a ton of puzzles to solve. I feel like that's when the genre is at it's finest (when it's constructed well at least). It for sure makes it more difficult and increases your chances to get stuck, but it also lends itself to game atmosphere and feeling like you are in an actual living breathing environment instead of going from corridor to corridor. Rubacava felt like an actual city with tons of areas and people to discover that just kept unlocking and revealing itself.

I suppose you are right when I ruminate on it more. I'm not really in the Gilbert is God crowd though. I just feel the series started to look a bit goofier in terms of character designs, in which CMI was always very jarring to me as a kid, and Guybrush became too nice, too much of a doormat, and became somewhat smarter. I remember when I first played Curse, I felt like Guybrush was even less than a pirate than how he started in the first game. I mean it's no Prince of Persia Warrior Within and it is for sure a much more subtle difference in characterization between games in the series because many of the qualities of Guybrush are held within every incarnation to some degree.
  6. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Embargo just lifted. I guess everyone can now get their Let's Play videos out and cash in their Youtube ad money for playing the newest game.
  7. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

Yeah, I think as a kid I may have felt CMI was better than Secret, but I think I appreciated the first game more as I got older. I think I rank Tales behind the first two now, so Curse is even after that for me. CMI's heart is in the right place, but I feel it's a bit too clean and Disneyesque (in terms of the animated films, not the Pirates of the Caribbean ride) to be a full Monkey Island game. There's a personality shift with Guybrush starting with Curse and the old one doesn't really come back until Tales. I don't know what characterization EMI is, because it's all over the fucking place.
  8. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

I think I might seriously wait to play this when I get my boxed copy. If not then, then at least by the time part 2 is done. Went ahead and activated it and downloaded the soundtrack though.
  9. Basic income

I don't think the United States will ever change. Too many people will grasp on to the selfish ideals that "founded this country" until they are dead in the ground. I could see this all happening in a more progressive nation though. Leading by example would be awesome.
  10. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

I haven't played past Kirby games past 1996 (been chipping away at them chronologically) and I also don't know what's available on the eShop, but I do have recommendations out of the ones I've played. Kirby's Dreamland 2: It's everything from Kirby's Adventure but even more well constructed and the level design actually makes use of the multiple powers, plus the mix and match system with the animals is genius. Sucks that whenever Nintendo rereleases this, they never actually use the Super Game Boy enhancements, because added colors and sound are icing on the cake. Kirby Super Star: SNES one is considered essential, but I enjoy the expanded DS Super Star more. Either way, they are both fun and have multiple amounts of gameplay styles to explore, including almost a full remake of the first Dream Land game. Kirby's Blockball: A lot of the Kirby side games are well done (and Dream Course is awesome too), so Block Ball is a neat kind of Arkanoid clone but with the Kirby powers and a lot of expansion on that design where powers must be used in the right times. Plus it has bosses. I had a lot of fun with this one and it never got excruciatingly hard like Dream Course, so it's more suited to the difficulty in general in the Kirby gameography.
  11. The Banner Saga

I should be getting Episode 1 at some point for the KIckstarter donation thing. There's a launch party thingy in Austin sometime later this month I'm going to. I can't wait. I really want these guys to do well so that I can work for them!
  12. Intoxication in Video Games

Hey did you know in Space Quest 1 when you drink too much your direction keys keep randomizing so you walk the wrong way a lot? It only lasts while you are inside the bar. Amazing, huh?
  13. Walking Dead Season the Second

I would like a constructed save file tool because I played S1 on PS3, but I'm going to be doing this one on PC because it comes with a collector's DVD this time around. I wonder if the guys at Lucasforums who made the Telltale music and sound file rippers (among others) might be up for it...
  14. The Nintendo Wii U is Great Thread

It was magic when I figured out I could quickly switch to the internet while playing Wind Waker HD and being able to look up the Tingle Statues (as all clues and hints to finding them have been removed). Now maybe they should make the in game jump in to MiiVerse load that quickly.
  15. Let's Draw Video Games

Wait, where are you guys selling prints and how does that work? At least two people (a whole two people!) have asked me for prints of my work and I don't know what to say other than Deviant Art *seems* to sell prints, but I have no idea what kind of quality that shit is.
  16. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

I remember those animated cutscenes at the end were especially cheap looking, more like King's Quest VII, especially coming off the heels of Full Throttle.

I think I nearly got suckered into an interview to sell knives and speakers door to door last month under disguise of "marketing assistant." Glad your ear got saved, just curious though, is plastic surgery in Canada paid for as part of an instance like this?

Oh man, it seems that life insurance job I interviewed for was a total scam. I never actually applied to the place and they called me, but I figured I should go to the first "career meeting" just to see what's going on, and returned again to interview today. Such a waste of my time. This time when I got in, there were like 5 different recruiters in the next room reading the same script read to me on the phone, cold calling unqualified individuals. I had to wait 40 minutes for the guy to even let me in the office to interview and in the mean time the receptionist got a call asking if the company was a scam. Interview didn't go much better. Instead of clearly answering what position I would be eligeable for since I was told so far that they "were hiring for a wide range of positions" and "managerial, not sales," I was told sales. Then the guy went in to some schpiel about how he made $118k a year and has never financed anything except for his mortgage. He then showed me his truck out the window and how it was paid for already. After that the guy went over how the job had no base pay and was on commission and then went over how last week he only made $400, but the week before he made $5000, as the branch's top salesman. Great, I guess. Then he started spouting about Dave Ramsey, which is an AM Right Wing radio host that my dad listens to. Yet another red flag. I continuously asked what the job entails and how it pays and I was instead questioned back with things like, "Are you determined?" "Are you ready to work outside the box?" "You haven't been employed for a while, are you desperate yet?" He then asked me if this is how I usually spoke to people (I was just being polite and kind of chuckly), and he said I was too scared and had no fire lit under me. Then he said I wasn't right for the job, but I could prove him wrong because so many people have turned around selling insurance. This guy was nuts, I wanted out of there so bad. He then detailed some stupid plan where I pay $200 to get licensed and then take some kind of training courses online in the evenings and all weekends for four weeks while I go in to their office 8-5 on Monday through Friday to learn the ropes, also with no pay. I guess those weekly numbers he threw out earlier were so you'd think every week after your training you were going to hit it big or something. Also I was asked if I was married pretty soon in to it, which is not legal. But then I got out of it with the fiancee excuse, because he wanted me to say yes to this job that instant, even after I told the guy I needed to think about it. Told him I'd discuss it with her after she got out of work at 6pm. And he was like, "well can you call her now?" "No, because she works at a vet and is constantly helping animals all day and can't answer phones." "Well is she on her lunch break, it's around 12 right now, call her now." Told him she went in early today so she was finished with her lunch break by now (which was true). Then he said he needed an answer today because he was going to be out the rest of the week. Still no, and then he said the training course wasn't going to happen again for two weeks so he needed to know now. I told him I could wait if needed, then the guy abruptly shook my hand and thanked me for my time. Sheesh. I did a bit more research on the company and then found out they pretty much run a low wage employment scheme to screw over know nothings in the insurance industry to do cold calling. I personally get hesitant over any industry where your pay is dependent on commission, since you can sometimes end up making less than minimum wage, and it seems that's pretty much what was going on here. http://www.ripoffreport.com/r/Liberty-National-Life-Insurance-Company/Birmingham-Alabama/Liberty-National-Life-Insurance-Company-REVIEW-Customer-Satisfaction-Commitment-Liberty-219217#comment_5 What a bizarre thing.

This possibly doesn't belong in this thread, but I found it super disturbing: http://jezebel.com/texas-will-keep-a-dead-woman-on-life-support-just-to-in-1494954930 There's also speculation on whether the family has to end up footing the bill. I hate this state.
  21. Game and Watch Gallery Confessions

Guys, I have something to admit. I recently completed Game and Watch Gallery 1 and 2 and unlocked everything 100% but I cheated like a dirty asshole with a Gameshark. I had to do some games legit because the damn Gameshark didn't work in all places but for the most part I didn't bother subjecting myself to maxing out the score tp a bunch of Game and Watch games. But you know what Nintendo? I'm not fucking sorry! Why would you make it a requirement to max out points on impossible shit like Fire and Parachute?! You jerks! Sent from my WiiU.
  22. Help identifying song from a video

I though Ben was for real. The other thread where he named the songs sounded legit, even though I couldn't tell. Mario 3 famicom version? Was that a troll too?

I've done a 48 hour one, it wasn't so bad, but our game was pretty dumb. We did get together a few times after that to flesh it out, but it's been over six months since last we did that. Sucks because I would like to finish it.
  24. I Had A Random Thought...

I've never thought of it that way before. That certainly makes a lot more sense than what I came up with.

Have you been receiving unemployment, Twig? I got cut off after I went on emergency unemployment last month and cut off for the New Year since Congress decided not to continue that benefit. I'm wondering if you are in the same boat at this point. I've been applying to retail jobs and crappy jobs all week but I'm worried everyone is either going to see me as overqualified, be confused by my resume, or just disqualify me because I was fired from my last job. Also I'm sure they will all suspect I'll quit their companies in a heartbeat should I be offered an artist or animator job again. I have an interview for some sort of position at a life insurance company on Monday but I have no clue what it is because they were super fucking vague on the phone. I'm also trying to go back to Kinko's, which was my job in college, but that's upsetting because it really points ou to me that I'm back to square one.
