Episode 19 of the doc just came out for backers, and it's really emotional. Plus, Justin Bailey wears the Campo Santo video games t-shirt in it!
-
Honestly, I don't think it'll get much more complicated than this! I need to find a good tutorial for making a cutscene (nothing fancy, just having a character walk onto screen, say some shit and leave again) and basic item use, and then I'll just make as much game as I can in a day and see what comes of it.
-
Oh, I also expect I will need AGS/itchio-specific advice on making the game available to everyone online...
-
Thanks! Um, if someone could fly around the planet real quick to turn back time, that'd be great. Or create a purely visual editor for AGS. But srsly, a chiptune or similar version of a Buble song would be amazing. And I may have to ask a load of noob AGS questions. All else is too late to practically ask for!

Oh god. I may need help...

Thanks!

Idle Thumbs 207: Buble Bloodborne Bloodbeef
Ben X replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
See, that's a real Englishman saying it! -
From the Books thread, sounds cool:

Sorry to needle over minutiae, but I don't see how that's a brilliant pun - they've just found something else that had the name Flanders in it and wrangled it to fit the episode, despite the poem having nothing to do with the episode. It's about as clever as "Insane Clown Poppy". Actually, looking briefly over a list of season one Simpsons titles, they're all pretty lame.

Idle Thumbs 207: Buble Bloodborne Bloodbeef
Ben X replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
FWIW, I thought Danielle's pronunciation of Shropshire was fine (in fact, I thought Spaff was joking at first when he offered his version). As long as you don't say it in the same way as Tolkien's The Shire then you're fine. Obviously, the people making 'fishy' puns about the squid game missed my previous post about how squid are cephalopods, not fish. Good 'cast, the ending song was fabulous. -
'Cruisin' for a Word that Rhymes With Cruisin'' or 'The Silken Goku'
Ben X replied to matthew's topic in Wizard Jam 1 Archive
I vote for "Cruisin'" (and also for you adding [DEVLOG] to your subject title once it's applicable!). -
Yeah, that was something I found interesting about the prequels - you assume from the original trilogy that the jedi will be right about everything all the time, but they're hugely flawed: Qui Gon Jinn gives up on freeing Anakin's mum without even thinking, because he's so focused on getting Anakin; Obi-wan patterns his teaching style of Anakin on Qui Gon's strict, no-nonsense approach, which worked well with Obi-wan but is wholly the wrong way to deal with Anakin; meanwhile, the jedi go against all their better judgement because they're greedily chasing a prophecy like they're Macbeth or something. Another interesting thing was how occasionally the Sith would talk about bringing peace and order to the galaxy as if that was truly their goal - the stuff Palpatine says at the opera about how from his point of view the jedi are evil or something is clunkily written, but it hints at where Lucas could have gone with a good co-writer for that feel of a more complex trilogy where we see the reality that had become simplified myth by the time of the original trilogy (to the point that "the Force is strong with this one" can be scientifically proven). He didn't get anywhere close to achieving this satisfyingly, of course, but there are tantalising aspects of it here and there.
-
No way; Palpatine allowed Windu to put him in that compromised position, in order to force Anakin's hand and secure his fall to the dark side. He's acting like a feeble old man one second, then as soon as Mace's arm is off, he drops the act.

My favourite Lambert line, at 1m30s: Good lord, Fisher, have you gone mad? Shame it's got screams over it in this vid.

I just realised that I got confused and it's actually the second episode of the third season. Still pretty early on, though!

Even if they don't do that, they'll probably release an Instagram pic saying "RIP Han!" the second the scene has played at the premiere.

Here's one that's currently still up, but it's hard to see what you're actually looking at: https://youtu.be/b_c2n9e3cYg https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=b_c2n9e3cYg Description:

I'm still moving very slowly through my re-watch. and just realised that the Leftorium episode is the second episode of the second season! So, do you think they harpooned the character only 15 episodes in? Or was this a blip, an omen of things to come? Personally, I think of that as a typical Homer move - schadenfreude and thoughtless meanness or selfishness up until the point that he's confronted with the consequences and has a big enough heart that he feels guilty and tries to fix it. Similar to the big fish episode. I think this balance being a central part of Homer is why they lampooned it once the show started eating itself, with Frank Grimes and the like, where Homer's selfish acts get ever worse and don't even require his penitence to be forgiven by everyone.

Just in case this affects anyone. Hopefully anyone using Unity should be able to put out an installable version. If not, sounds like other browsers still work... In other news: everyone's games look amazing and really exciting - well done, everyone, good luck in the last few days!

When I saw the title of this episode and the games discussed, I assumed Owen Wilson would be getting a mention because of his role in the Wes Anderson film "Bottle Rocket". But he came up completely separately, which was very pleasing! Re. rotating hosts, I enjoy it. We always have some of the regulars to anchor it, and it's not like it's very episode forever now, written in stone. It's cool to have Spaff on again (I forgot he's living in the US so it momentarily confused me to hear him on two 'casts in quick succession) but I hope he stops being so English and speaks up a bit more often next time! Re. lore/alt-game metaphors - it seems to me that the Rule Of Thumb is, as with so many things, "it's great when it's done well, but the majority of the time it's done badly."
-
Mangela, as long as you aren't fearful of rejection, then you've got nothing to lose! Options: "Hey, do you want to go out on a date sometime? If you just want to stay friends, that's also great!" "Hey, do you want to go [bowling? pub-crawling? roller disco? Activity that can be read as friends only, but lends itself to getting tipsy and seeing if you both click]?" YOLO, go for it.

Cool. I've had X-Files on my re-watch list for a while, I will try to keep up!
