I really liked the style of this. I'm not reading threads before I play, so I didn't actually realise I could control Nick. I was just hacking pedestrians and trying to line them up. Didn't really know what was going on!

Hmm, okay, maybe I need to get into that cave in time to bounce off one of the enemies to get to that sweet red sword...

[Dev Log] Shadow and Colossus: Back in Action
Ben X replied to Spenny's topic in Wizard Jam 1 Archive
I did pick up on that! The dissonance I felt was in using a pencilled style for a stylish crime drama - it's not done in the style of a child's colourings, but it's close. It evokes someone's bored doodles in a meeting or something - makes it feel more fantastical and light, while the narrative is understated and grimy. I could read it in a number of ways - a satire on these narratives in GTA 5 and the like, or suggesting a narcotic state of mind for the protagonist... -
But do they do anything? (Ace track!)

Ahhh, okay! Very gradual hints: Hint 1: Hint 2: Hint 3: Hint 4: Hint 5: Solution:

[Dev Log] Shadow and Colossus: Back in Action

This was great! Loved the last chapter, great music choice. Is the dissonance between art style and subject matter meaningful? -
Wow, this is really impressive! Manages to parody the mechanics with its own perfectly. (Minor feedback - I would have preferred run to be left trigger so I could keep it down while adjusting the camera. I also would have liked a pat on the head for 100%ing, but perhaps that's part of the joke!)

Wait, is this something wrong with the game then (not unlikely)? You literally have only two items you can use on the letter! Glad you enjoyed the writing! (No one has mentioned the top-quality bespoke Jake animation yet *sadface*)

Man, those ghosts are terrifying! I couldn't figure out how to use the pointy shoes, though. They don't seem to get me any extra height or anything...

This is cool, but tough - I've become a master at flipping the craft upside down! Would be nice to have some simple sound fx.

Love it! What happened to the house exterior btw?

Idle Thumbs 207: Buble Bloodborne Bloodbeef
Ben X replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
George Lucas thinks all these details through thoroughly. -
Ha ha, there are only three items in the entire game! Glad you enjoyed it

"It looks like you're pleasuring yourself. Would you like help?"

When you're synchronising with the excellent Sean O'Neil, you know your snark skills are mighty.
-
Phew, thanks! Glad you enjoyed it and that at least Buble's character worked. I tried to keep him consistent and not exactly the same as the Ben character from BTDT/TGP. I did rush the Jake character a bit and changed his story role near the end of development!

Oh man, but I've got WizardJam and Age Of Ultron waiting for me as well!

If I didn't eat or drink foreign cuisine in England, I'd have a pretty limited diet.

I bet Dinosaursssssss and Spenny will allow you to sneak in. That would get us up to 35 games, so impressive! Well done everyone, including those who didn't manage to finish this time - you've given yourself a bit more experience for the next one!
-
It would be handy if everyone changed their [DEVLOG} title to [RELEASE] (or similar) once they've uploaded their game - nice to see them all pop up, and then interesting to see at a glance how many got finished in time.
-
Cool, thanks Clyde! Have now uploaded a picture which pretty accurately reflects the quality of the game.

After basically starting to learn AGS and basic coding from scratch 16 hours ago, I have released the game! It's not up to much, but it's short, it's the only AGS game of the jam (I think?) and it got us all the way up to the most recent episode title. My only regret is that if I'd had the full two and a bit weeks, and recruited someone for art, I could have made a pretty impressive entry. Oh well. Enjoy! https://timegentleman.itch.io/bubl-bloodborne-bloodbeef

Well, it's up. Should be fine...

I'm ready to upload my game but am not super confident of how to deal with AGS games. I think i just zip the compiled folder and upload it to itch.io... Is there anyone around right now who is able to download whatever I put on there, to check if it works?
