  1. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Haven't looked at your hints yet, as my edited in guesses I think have led me to solve all Vella's stuff. So I'll do that then take one more walk round with Shay and take a look. Thanks!
  2. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Okay, I wouldn't normally do this, but as I want to complete it so I can fully take part in discussions, avoid spoilers and stay current with the backer experience, I'm asking for hints! Can anyone who has completed it please give me one or two very subtle hints, ideally about whether I've missed something or I'm thinking about things in the wrong way, please? EDIT: here's what I was stuck on that the hints Tanu gave me helped with, along with those hints:

  6. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Goddamn, this is a LOT harder than Act 1! I breezed through the first part, hardly thinking about it, but this is tough. I'm full-on stuck at the moment, at the stage where I'm wandering back and forth hoping something will click in my head! I'm generally enjoying it, but I think I can guess what the major story criticisms will be (have only skimmed this thread since Act 2 release).

  8. You wouldn't know seeing as you HAVEN'T BOTHERED PLAYING THEM.
  9. Ha, thanks. I figured I could get away with that puzzle as there are so few items in the game. I probably should have made the Look At Jake dialogue include a hint about the moose antlers being big, just to make sure. Once I realised I didn't have time to have Michael Bublé's evil brother Ian Bublé show up, I quickly changed the end of the story and chucked in some tenuous justifications! Until then, Jake was just a background character I put in as I was learning AGS. --Rev
  10. Feminism

Actually, I think Mangela meant films more like Alien than Jeane Dielman..., ie easier to watch so the whole thing doesn't die on its arse again, so the latter film shouldn't be on the list at all! Gremlins has some mild horror and some fun gloopy gore, nothing the average 16 year old shouldn't be able to handle (I couldn't get through it at age 12 though). Gremlins 2 has basically no horror elements at all, and is basically a live-action Looney Tunes. The only thing to watch out for is the dark story that Phoebe Cates' character tells which is ambiguous enough to be a trigger warning for It's a really weird moment in an otherwise very light film. But I'm pretty sure these films were suggested as a joke, as they don't really have much to discuss re. feminism.
  11. Life

I'm just starting a week on my own without my girlfriend of 6.5 years and am already loving it.
  12. General Video Game Deals Thread

It should really be: King's Field (King's Field (Demon's Souls (Dark Souls (Dark Souls II (Bloodborne predecessor) predecessor) predecessor) predecessor) successor) Mington set a bad precedent.
  13. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

DF are recommending people replay Act 1 to properly enjoy the storytelling in 2.
  14. Life

Might be worth asking the Trekkies on there for brillo in-jokes and easter eggs to sneak into your artwork.
  15. UK Thumbs

You can find it in most supermarkets.
  16. [Released] The Spectacle was Incredible

This is web player only, right? Sadly I can't play it in Chrome (and don't really want to clog up my gaming PC with other browsers). Is it easy in Unity to create a download? And if so, would you consider doing so? If not, I'll try to get my laptop to play it!
  17. [Released] ROBOT NEWS by me, Dinosaursssssss

I feel like I missed a lot here (what do the on/off things do, what's supposed to happen once I've got all the mats and run out of money? I didn't realise until coming back and looking at gifs that the bigdog could go up the side - maybe that opens new stuff up), but I enjoyed smashing things!
  18. This was really cool, and the difficulty/frustration level was pitched just right.
  19. This is great, very addictive! I got up to 60 pizzas/4400 points. Reminded me of Portal and Stanley Parable in places. I did not donate
  20. [Release] Shoot That Pizza

This made me chuckle! I especially liked the gag. 58 points woooo! I'm now going to play the other Shoot That Pizza, hopefully the graphics will stand up to this one...
  21. [Release*] Bogost in the Shell

I really liked the style of this. I'm not reading threads before I play, so I didn't actually realise I could control Nick. I was just hacking pedestrians and trying to line them up. Didn't really know what was going on!
  22. Hmm, okay, maybe I need to get into that cave in time to bounce off one of the enemies to get to that sweet red sword...
  23. I did pick up on that! The dissonance I felt was in using a pencilled style for a stylish crime drama - it's not done in the style of a child's colourings, but it's close. It evokes someone's bored doodles in a meeting or something - makes it feel more fantastical and light, while the narrative is understated and grimy. I could read it in a number of ways - a satire on these narratives in GTA 5 and the like, or suggesting a narcotic state of mind for the protagonist...
