Can't check right now but didn't he get some other sort of contact for her after she'd blocked him and send her a message? Like her Google number or something? That's what Mangela was referring to as circumnavigating the block, I think, and is what clearly counts as direct harrassment even if the incitement is not.

Idle Thumbs 228: New Game Plus or Minus World
Ben X replied to Jake's topic in Idle Thumbs Episodes & Streams
"...and J.J. Abrams' Cloverfield." Poor Matt Reeves, he is the Henry Sellick of found-footage kaiju movies. -
David Lynch's Josh Brolin's Campo Santo's Fire Watch With Me: A Motion Picture Event
Ben X replied to TychoCelchuuu's topic in Video Gaming
Olly should have cleverly worked the title into the image so at least it would be getting subliminal advertising through all this image piracy. -

Sue that charity! -
Interesting, thank you for posting! I used arrow keys for movement with . and / for strafing plus a couple of nearby keys for fire and door opening, and I found that worked fine. I think WASD came in once people were using the mouse with their right hand? For posterity, here is the other thread Clyde mentions (including quotes from the Random Thoughts thread!). Unfortunately, I haven't had a chance to play any more Dark Forces. RPS did a short Have You Played? on it and the consensus seems to be that no quick-save was a good design choice as it adds peril *grumble grumble* One thing I need to look into is the music - it regularly reminds me of Sam And Max Hit The Road (was that Clint Bajaakian or something?) and feels like there's some iMuse cleverness going on.

You made the right choice.

Just watched it (the first one), and totally agree with you. It's the first 45 minutes of a movie, stretched out to fill an entire feature.

So a video game music floppy drive rendition that could have gone in the Video Game Music Rendition thread next to the other floppy drive renditions, and a discussion of DooMTM that could have gone in the FPS playthrough thread.

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
Ben X replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
It's probably all been pointed out before, but here's a Cracked article on why the Federation are arseholes. -
Ooh, details please!

Yeah, given your lack of enthusiasm for the first film, I doubt you'll find the others worth your time. They don't surpass "kind of watchable".
-
Wow, that NYTimes article is seriously misleading in that regard. I can't find these in that article, were they reported elsewhere?

The kid made a clock out of wires and circuit boards and put it in a big metal case so it looked exactly like a movie bomb that then started beeping in class.

Yeah, sorry, didn't mean to suggest Erkki had coined the term - that was done "by the German writer Johann Gottfried Schnabel in the Preface of his 1731 work Die Insel Felsenburg (The Island Stronghold)", which is why I was wondering whether -ade was a typical German suffix, it didn't feel very German to me. But I just found this: http://www.canoo.net/services/WordformationRules/Derivation/To-N/Suffixe-F/ade.html?lang=en Anyway, sorry, it was pretty off-topic and pointless!

Hope they don't get divorced because he never thought to send her flowers in the early years. Maybe a pervy sentient drone?

What a relief this was due to the trailers not really capturing the spirit of the movie. As long as you don't expect everything going on in the "feelings" scenes to map one-to-one psychologically to the girl's experience, it's a very entertaining, inventive and touching film. As did someone else here, I cried at the end and was belly-laughing at a few points.
-
I'd never heard of the term Robinsonades, thank you! Why "-ade", though? Is that a standard German suffix?

As I don't know the two movies Moddy cited, I don't know what kind of weird car movies we're talking, but Repo Man, the original Gone In Sixty Seconds, Grand Theft Auto (the Ron Howard one), Two-Lane Blacktop and Vanishing Point spring to mind.

This really needs to become some kind of anti-hipster meme.

Sorry for the plug, but The Swindle is now out on WiiU!
-
Bonus pedantic assholery: are you referring to the quote attributed to Churchill "This is the kind of arrant pedantry up with which I will not put"? Because that's him disliking pedants and illustrating how sometimes it's better to end with a preposition, not disliking sentence-ending prepositions.

It's not your responsibility to contact USPS. Just go round, say this is the first mail like this you've got and ask if it's for them. If it is, just drop it off whenever some shows up. (If you can't be arsed to do that, just don't contact them, obv!) I guess you could put a sign on your mailbox saying "S. Gerbil lives here. For T Gerbil please use mailbox number 1138"...

*waves* Dropsy looks really cool, I'm looking forward to playing it. -
No, absolutely. Also, it's a daft opinion anyway.
