How about the Halloween 2016 thread?

Cussed - try dangling chocolate coins off yourself? Here's an Empire article recommending scary movie triple-bills (some of which may have been mentioned already, and including spoilers at least for Cabin In The Woods and The Others).

Yeah, agreed with all of this. I meant the colours feel similar to Struzan's Star Wars choices (although as you say, they've crammed a load of them together) and that they haven't tried to digitally ape Struzan's signature airbrush/pencils style. That Special Edition triptych idea is really cool, but as individual posters they don't work for me... I think Henroid was asking specifically about the 70s/80s Star Wars posters, btw (I guess the implied question being whether they're actually good or just seen as that because of their association with classic Star Wars and/or retro-nostalgia value).
-
The colour scheme and lens flare are certainly very Struzan-y, but the composition, image choices and brush style (or whatever the technical term might be - I'm no art expert!) also feel a little reminiscent of some of the original posters - I wonder whether the intention was to link the two styles? If it were me I would have gone all the way old-school and jettisoned any Struzan feel, to strengthen the ties to the original trilogy, but I guess a lot of people think of Struzan's style as the standard for the enitre series now and perhaps a change back to that 70s/80s style would actually alienate a lot of them...

They're both compositions - boring, careless ones; Struzan's just has a slightly smaller number of things slapped on. Don't get me wrong, I love Struzan's posters for stuff like Back To The Future, The Thing, Coming To America, The Goonies and Adventures In Babysitting, as well as his teaser/alternative posters for stuff like Jedi, New Hope (the "circus poster"), Last Crusade and Hellboy II. But half his work is just lazy "throw a bunch of faces and scenes at the page and don't worry about how they work together" stuff, and all his main Star Wars posters come under this banner for me.

That doesn't look far off the typical Struzan Star Wars mess to me...

We also have the Plug Your Shit thread for stuff people are doing.

Ben X replied to TychoCelchuuu's topic in Video Gaming
It feels like this conversation is veering off into a general "how much should games cost" debate which I think we already have a thread for somewhere... -
Dammit, I was going to do this twelve hours ago but didn't have the balls. I am Spartacus!

Although she didn't, she says something along the lines of "the Uncharted veteran in me immediately spots the pole as an exit and shimmies up it". Even accepting these commenters' stringent definition of "veteran" as someone who knows every inch of the games off by heart, it's quite obviously not a claim of veteranship. She's simply saying that she's played the games enough to spot a climbable thing. Outside of that, she was playing the game with Japanese VO so she wouldn't have been able to identify the sequence as easily, plus she was at a Tokyo game show with non-English signage, and it's the remastered version so she wouldn't have played exactly that game before anyway. Aside from all this, she spends a lot of the review saying it feels like a rehash and that she's not convinced the graphics are cutting edge, so her critical instincts are on point despite this understandable error.

It has long been a tradition on the Idle Forums to start threads for holidays long before it's bearable or appropriate (i.e. one week for Halloween, two weeks for Christmas with exceptions for Secret Santa organisation threads). It seems to have snowballed this year. SNOWBALLS! LIKE CHRISTMAS!

There are two threads starting with "It's beginning to look a lot like..." and I didn't want to show favouritism.
