Hmm, oh yeah. He also shoots it in ESB apparently, in the space slug. I guess maybe the person who told me that meant it was a joke about how he rarely uses it? It was kind of a weird running joke anyway... Now, any answers on the alien bumhole?
-
Oh, two things: The whole thing with Chewie's bowcaster is a joke about how he carried it around the whole original trilogy and never used it (also, wookie bowcasters fired green in the games, but that's not canon, I guess. Did they use them in ROTS?) Was I imagining it or did that massive cow beast drinking water at the trough have a proper massive bumhole on display?

Ah, okay, thank you for the explanations. I hadn't thought about videos. I assume the Je Suis Milo thing is a reference to Je Suis Charlie, like they're trying to piggy-back a movement which was a reaction to an actual terrorist attack.

I don't get what any of this post or tweet means.

I finally saw this yesterday. It was full of really cool stuff and also full of really awful stuff. In fact, I think its main problem was that it was too full - it felt like it was at ROTJ levels of plotting where it really should have pared back down to New Hope.

And the real bits of the text are maintained! Now ask me how one turns Lord Of The Rings non-linear while still preserving it's original text.

I post in the DF forums occasionally (as TimeGentleman, same avatar).

I know what you're thinking - if we take the '7 weeks of thread for one day of holiday' standard ratio set by the Halloween thread and extrapolate, then this thread should have started sometime around March last year. But better late than never! Some people here have got their Xmas avatars up already, which is good to see. So, has anyone started making a list of gifts yet? Always good to have one now so that if you get a good gift idea you haven't forgotten it come shopping time in October!

I just watched Toy Story. Like Patrick, I've seen this movie so many times I was worried it would feel like a chore. Thankfully, I still enjoyed it and even noticed a few new little touches (Slinky's leg kicking while he sleeps in a panning shot, for example). It's not quite the 4th yet, but I don't have observations of any depth, so I'll go ahead and say that this is still a very good film. Nice and short at 81 minutes (at a quick glance, the rest are all over 90 and most of them edge towards two hours), and with a pacey, satisfying structure. Inventive, great performances, sharp dialogue, and the central idea of toys all having their own insecurities and squabbles works really well. Mr Potato Head as the small-town agitator and Rex as a pre-Antz Woody Allen/George McFly type stand out. The direction and cinematography are a lot less perfunctory than I assumed, too - energetic without being distracting.

I've updated the thread title so this can now act as the CHRISTMAS MEGATHREAD and no one need re-post the same ten videos ever again!

I haven't played much post Sam And Max Telltale stuff (a bit of TWD and GoT), but it did feel comparatively low to me, yeah.

It's well written and directed, but there is very little gameplay. If you don't mind the experience being essentially watching a cool animated feature with the occasional dialogue choice/'walk forward for ten seconds' section/QTE, then you'll enjoy it. (I enjoyed it and had no previous knowledge of the Borderlands games.)

I think he's making general jokes about dense fantasy novels rather than specifically referring to LOTR's appendices (which didn't describe villages for hundreds of pages or talk about magic techniques). He may well be entirely joking and not intend to have huge blocks of exposition at all...

Well, I wonder if there's a more elegant way than that, even; some way of making it clear which clickable will end a scene and maybe making it a double-click or something?

Yayy, dev commentary! Always a cool thing. You answered all the questions I had, gave me a shout-out and provided more Lu, so a 10.0 rating for you. I had been considering doing a dev commentary myself, but I feel like me talking over a load of comic panels would be weird.
