THis was why I took a Millennium detour! I doubt I'll do the same with Lone Gunmen. Perhaps I'll just watch that 9/11-predicting episode...

Oof, Millennium is definitely not worth even skimming through the "best" episodes, and I gave up about 6 episodes before the end of my list. It has some cool conspiracy arc ideas, but everything else about the show is so slow and maudlin it's really not worth the wait. (Also, obviously, it got cancelled before it could get anywhere with it.) The show's worst sin is probably that it actually manages to make Lance Henriksen and Terry O'Quinn boring. Anyway, I am relieved to be back to The X Files season 7.

Whenever Idle Thumbs is not on the page, all the other podcasts should be asking "Where's Idle Thumbs?"

Hey hey HEY we have a team-up thread, you know!
-
Upvoted! For the gif logo if nothing else, love those things.

There's a fair amount of discussion of it in my FPS thread (linked above), but I don't know if there's a proper Doom thread though.

Ha ha! Yeah, I'm all for waiting to let people catch up, assuming they actually want to! Or everyone could just blitz their way through Cars and Ratatouille in the next week...
-
Well I watched it and I'm not going through that torture alone so get to it! I just watched Ratatouille for the first time since I saw it at the cinema, and I still don't like it. It jumps from arbitrary plot point to random contrivance throughout, can't decide if it's about the rat world or the human world, and is full of under-developed characters. The best bit in the film is the wordless sequence where Remy first learns how to control Linguini, it feels like a good Pixar short. In fact, if the film kept Remy silent, jettisoned his existential angst storyline, such as it is, and bothered to give Linguini a personality, it would probably work much better. EDIT: Oh, I forgot to say anything positive. It looks great, is nicely directed and has some lovely animation and character design (down to all the minor and background characters).

So, has Cars ground this thread to a halt? We should have moved onto Ratatouille a week ago...

Looks like it's time to start the team-building thread. I went ahead and made one, hope that's not treading on your toes 051. Let me know if you want it deleted or edited

I don't think I'll have time to make my own game this jam, but if anyone needs design/writing doing, give me a holler. (I can also do crappy art - see my previous jam games) Best way to contact me: PM or Twitter Time zone: England (either GMT or 1hr off it!) Experience/samples: I did a game in each of the previous jams and co-designed a couple of indie adventure games

Yeah, I had already got the impression they get nowhere near to doing this. I guess Chris Carter is still waiting for that big-budget wrap-up movie... Anyway, I watched the first three episodes of Millennium after a couple of people on Twitter said it was worth watching. It sets its stall out early as a post-Se7en, post-Lynch show, and has some very effective scenes and mood-setting, but after three episodes, it's feeling quite repetitive and stilted. I'm already worn out by serial killers doing elaborately gross stuff and Frank Black just trundling after them for 40 minutes. The show seems to be feeling the same - even the stand-out creepy scenes are just dropped into the middle of the script then immediately forgotten about. But I don't want to give up on it completely, so I've cobbled together a watch-list mostly compiled from a couple of top ten lists I found:

Like from Lord Of The Rings?

Bryan Adams did the same with a Mississippi gig.

I'm onto season 7 now, and it's still surprisingly good overall. Even the mythology episodes are still good - all they need to do at some point is tie the disparate strands together and wrap it all up, and all these episodes will retroactively become very satisfying instead of just cool and tantalising. I don't know if they touch the mythology in the new ones at all. Anyway, I'm just about to watch the episode "Millennium", which apparently is a wrap-up crossover episode with the cancelled show Millennium. I'm wondering whether it would be worth finding a top ten episodes list of that show and blasting through them before watching this ep. Has anyone watched Millennium? Would the ten best eps be any good?

Oh god, Duke Nukem Forever was on sale for £2 and I bought it out of morbid curiosity. What have I done?!

I think Patrick has some music he made that people can use as well. Perhaps there should be a Free Assets thread?

Thanks for organising, 051! Can I suggest you look at the feedback thread from the previous jam? The main points brought up were: end time and time zone for the Jam, a post-Jam structure for playing/feedback, and encouragement in the team-building thread for people to read all the posts and not be embarrassed to make a move.

This is a story about four people named Everybody, Somebody, Anybody and Nobody. There was an important job to be done and Everybody was sure that Somebody would do it. Anybody could have done it, but Nobody did it. Somebody got angry about that, because it was Everybody’s job. Everybody thought Anybody could do it, but Nobody realized that Everybody wouldn’t do it. It ended up that Everybody blamed Somebody when Nobody did what Anybody could have.

Can I just confirm that as a VR viewer of these recordings, you can walk around in them and stuff? Can you tea-bag the guests?

Mr Robot had this, and also Daredevil S2 had the Punisher save the dog AND punish the child pornographer. He must be a really empathetic vigilante!
