I haven't currently got the internet speed to do it for you, but search the forums for embed YouTube and you'll find instructions

I'm off on holiday tomorrow, so I won't be able to play through the games for a week or so, but I encourage everyone to play and comment on as many and as soon as possible, even if you need some post-jam sleep first. It's really rewarding to get feedback on the thing you've been slaving over for two weeks, even if it's constructive negative criticism! (And very disheartening not to get any.)

Playable Results (Games that are kinda finished)
Ben X replied to clyde's topic in Wizard Jam 3 Archive
imo the game's thread is best, but if you have time it's always nice to comment on the itchio too, even if you're just copy-pasting. -
Sorry to hear that, hope stuff gets better. Hopefully you'll get to make the game (or another instead) at some point

People should also post the finished link in their threads and update the thread title to [RELEASE] (edit the initial post with full editor) - it's cool to see all the threads flip! -
Use this thread to find teammates and contributors. If you have found a team, please edit your post to reflect that. If you need to recruit a teammate, please post: A brief pitch of your game, or a general idea of what you would like to explore. (e.g. ‘I’m going to make the definitive krampus simulator” or “I have nothing particular in mind, but am interested in exploring holiday themed supernatural child punishment”) What you bring to the team (Art, code, music, etc). What you need for your team (Pixel art, C# code, 8-bit music, etc). The best way to contact you. (PM, E-mail, Slack, Twitter, etc.) Optional: Your timezone, for easier collaboration. Optional: If you know what engine you're using, that might be handy for folks to know. If you need a team, or just want to contribute assets, please post: What you're interested in doing for the jam (art, code, music, etc) The best way to contact you. (PM, E-mail, Slack, Tinder, Snapchat etc.) Optional: Your timezone, for easier collaboration. Optional: What sort of game you're interested in working on. Optional: Your experience level and a sample (or a link to a sample) of your work. This thread only works if you are willing to reach out and ask someone else to join your team! Before you make your own post, make sure you read the others!

Didn't this 'cast have an alternative title? Some Kind Of Drifter or something? I hope you incorporate that into the lore (perhaps that human hazard is the drifter?)!

I watched it on Amazon Prime Video in the UK. Perhaps you'd be able to get a trial or just sign up for a month...

I saw some games journo tweet that they weren't worried about the lack of advance copies as Bethesda did the same with Wolfenstein and some other releases...

Thing is, they've already played the "the conspiracy is a distraction" gag before. It doesn't make sense, it's not particularly satisfying or convincing, and it's a particularly strange move at the very start of reviving a series that's been off the air for a decade. Edit: that article's big reveal is that Fox are in it for the money? No shit. If that leads to the creative team coming back and potentially making a good wrap-up for the series, what's the problem?

Just watched the first episode of the new miniseries and it was dreadful. So clunky and empty, in every aspect - the acting, cinematography, dialogue, editing, mythology...

A thread to let people know if you have assets that are free for use and where to get them - music, graphics etc. I find it extremely unlikely, but if anyone would like to use my art or writing from either of my previous Jam games, let me know and I'll upload them somewhere. Also:

Ah, so brkl was using it in a different way to you, then? He said he returned a blu-ray because the rip ws awful... :/

Your games are always gorgeous but too hard for me! I am especially crappy at twin-stick shooters, so please include a Baby mode.

I don't know about start-ups and I enjoyed Silicon Valley. It was a bit of a slog at first but definitely picked up towards the end. I'll hopefully check out the next two seasons at some point, depending on how reasonable HBO make it for me. Also, it's weird seeing 'rip' being used to refer to the film conversion process even though I'm used to it for ripping music CDs.

I haven't encountered any guns that require chemical mixing, but they do have multiple sliders - detonate on impact/timed/cluster etc

Exciting! Dodgson! We've got Dodgson here!

A Dedicated Thread For Talking About Star Trek Episodes
Ben X replied to BigJKO's topic in Movies & Television
AV Club just did a mostly-rubbish article in their Q&A format where each of their writers answers the same question. This week the timely question was which other characters would you like to see have a civil war? One of the writers gave a very enticing and well thought out Star Trek answer (albeit one I'm sure has been suggested many times): Apart from that last bit about a big happy ending, I think this is a really cool idea. -
Yeah, I didn't enjoy season 1 that much, but they start to get more inventive with story structure and it really picks up.

Man, the season 9 (and therefore the series conclusion for a good few years) finale is weak as well. Bizarrely, it mirrors the Seinfeld series finale, with most of it taken up by a trial with appearances from characters from throughout the run. Instead of moving the arc plot on or giving it some closure, it summarises it (offhandedly revealing or clarifying a couple of things as if they were already established) then pretty much ends. The stuff with was pretty cool but also completely pointless. The second film is poor as well. Mainly Mulder and Scully having relationship problems, while not really doing any investigative work. It feels like a season 1 episode.

I had to go back and start Gunman Chronicles again on easy because it was insanely tough, but I'm now racing through it and having fun. It has a very enjoyable B-movie-romp feel to it, bouncing from one dire situation to another like a Republic serial hero. I just got through an 'insane AI' level which had a nice 2001 feel. Not as bodyshock creepy as SS2 but lots of cool enemy designs and boss fights where you generally have to either avoid and escape or figure out a puzzle, Plus a nice twist where you join forces with the AI and suddenly all her drones help you against the alien forces. Feels very Valve. The only issues are that it crashed occasionally and it's pretty damn long - I could have done with that AI level being half the length. I'm now back to dino-planet, fighting evil space cowboys, but hopefully they'll change it up again soon.

Your comment is probably what I'm remembering! EDIT: yes it was. I think the evolving art styles (cave painting up through greek urns and Picasso to pixel art) implies that they don't immediately fix everything, but that they go back to basics (hence the scenes of fish catching etc) and slowly redevelop society with knowledge of previous mistakes.

Well, since no one seems bothered either way (have we all just seen the later ones too recently? Was it really only the older ones we wanted to revisit?), I went ahead and re-watched WALL-E. This film is great. Gorgeous cinematography, evocative score. Wonderful storytelling, from the many wordless sequences to the great cause-and-effect structure once WALL-E gets on the ship and becomes the 'foreign contaminent' that throws everything into wonderful chaos, and it still takes time out to have some quiet moments even late on in the film. Full of nice touches too, like the incorporation of live-action (which reminds me of Lilo & Stitch using Elvis in a similar way). My only real issue is that the climax resolves very quickly - I could have done with the humans doing a little more to save themselves (at least have a couple of them run with the boot) and perhaps the damage to WALL-E being clearer (he seems to hang on indefinitely after getting zapped, this could have done with a ticking clock or something). I'll be interested to read your partner's writing on the treatment of fat characters in this, Patrick, if/when they post it. It struck me too that we can probably find older opinions about these films from when they were released on the forums, which would be interesting. I seem to remember someone thinking this film's implied happy ending for the humans unearned.

Mumford and Sons, Pearl Jam, Boston, Blue Man Group, Cirque du Soleil, Nick Jonas and Demi Lovato have also canceled performances in North Carolina, apparently. And continuing the North Carolina talk, here's a couple of things people posted on the DF forums (and thereby set the clock ticking for the handful of gators there to foul the place up): North Carolina lawmaker: 'we must fight to keep our state straight'
