This was fun! I got the ending, which worked well!

You forgot to link to the game page! I'm afraid I couldn't figure this out at all, I'm no good with puzzle games. Nice presentation, though!

[RELEASE] A Person Shaped Thing Is A Person

Fuuuuuck, this was really good. I especially liked the way it regularly changed tone and -
This won't run because python35.dll is missing from my computer...

[Release]Build The Nublar - A Game of Dinosaur Theme Parks and Hubris
Ben X replied to nkornek's topic in Wizard Jam 3 Archive
Dev log thread This is really slick - looks and sounds great, and an easy drag-n-drop interface. I felt like I wasn't strategising much though - perhaps communicating more of the visitors' thinking and having a target amount would help this? -
I really liked the aesthetics, concept and scope of this game. I found it quite difficult and confusing, though - I think some stuff could have done with simplifying down (e.g. why have the J and K buttons at all?) and labelling (I had no idea what was going on in the battle mode even with the instructions screen - having the enemy cannon/tower green and yours purple is one thing that might have helped).

Dev log thread This is a cute little roguelike. It's a bit barebones at the mo - needs more audio/visual feedback and structure - but the look function and last-known-position mechanics were satisfying and tense.

Some people here have Vives, right? A Vive game was made for the Wizard Jam, you should totes play it and leave some feedback! https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/10873-release-now-youre-lets-playing-with-power/

Though if you can be bothered you can always copy-paste into the itchio comments as well to make those pages feel less desolate!

I need another pop culture news site that doesn't spoil stuff since AVClub went to shit. Any recommendations?

Perhaps seeing Last Stand in particular would help contextualise it a bit more but no, all you need to know is in the film: she's a teenager, she has super-crazy powers that she's struggling to handle and all the kids at school think she's a witch. Cyclops is also a dick back to her, until he regains his sight and realises she's hot. EDIT: oh, I forgot to mention Psylocke's terrible costume. It's a tiny swimsuit with thigh-length boots and straps, it's just awful cheesy flesh-baring wank material straight out of the comics in a way that all of the previous films have purposely avoided (although First Class had some gratuitous actual-underwear moments).

Man, I've tried Wizard People, Dear Reader a couple of times and do not find it funny at all. Florid description and getting character names wrong in an off-brand Dr Evil voice seems to be the extent of it. Feels like the same response as I have to MST3K/Rifftrax, which many love but I find as bearable as watching a film with a precocious ten year old loudly showing off to his mates throughout. Spinning off from Sarah's question, I'd be interested to hear from the hosts how old they were when they first read Philosopher's Stone and how they think it holds up as a novel for: children; young adults; and adults.

I just came here to post that! I wrote a comment letting people know that it was from a Thumbs jam as the article didn't clarify that.

Thanks Jason, that makes me feel better about my decision! Yeah, when I was talking about diverging, I only meant on some points - I fully expect the show to hit a lot of stuff from the books closely, which is why I've decided to stop watching.
-
That being ages 11-13? (We don't have middle school here!) I was 21 or so when I read the first book but unfortunately I had already seen the film so I didn't have a particularly strong reaction to it. I moved straight onto 2 and 3 (and maybe 4?) before seeing the second film, though, and they were 'stay up all night reading them' jobs because I couldn't put them down.
-
I've stopped watching the show, and I haven't been spoiled yet but it's bound to happen and some of that is bound to overlap with the books. However, there's already a fair amount of difference even in season 5 and GRRM recently said that he's writing major twists which involve characters who have already died in the series and decided not to worry about that.

Ok, I'm back, and luckily for you I'm a bit compulsive: https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/4038-movietv-recommendations/page-485#entry361391 https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/4038-movietv-recommendations/page-527#entry390492 https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/4038-movietv-recommendations/page-527#entry390516 You're the second person on here to rate Zootopia; I have no idea why as I just saw it and it is utterly mediocre. The only notable things are the clumsy and confused 'prejudice is bad' message and the weird sexy-gazelle-who is-a-weirdly-specific-and-dated-reference to-and-also-played-by-Shakira sub-plot that seems to be a leftover from a previous draft. I saw X-Men Apocalypse today. I enjoyed it but there's a lot wrong with it. It's by far the most comic-booky of the main series, far less grounded and quite bloated. It also leans a lot on the emotional beats and iconic moments of the previous 5 entries without creating much of its own or moving anything forward. I would advise any newcomers tempted to marathon the series to stop at DOFP (and perhaps find a fan-edit of Last Stand).

Great! I won't rewatch or reread along, but I know them all pretty damn well. Can't come up with a single good question or thought regarding the Philosopher's Stone book/film, though...

I saw it and I think I posted here about and got a reply or two. I'm still on holiday with limited internet speed, so I won't track it down for you but a search for the title with 'display as posts' should get you there. 'Interesting mess' was the general feeling, I think. I remember watching a special feature about Hugh Laurie's character and it gave him more depth and motivation in two minutes than the entire film managed.

Aw, Alan Young died. At least he managed to get one last Scrooge in, in the excellent new Mickey Mouse shorts.

I'm reading Jonathan Strange And Mr Norrell and it's brilliant. Like Jane Austen but good and with magic (treated in a mundane, scientific way).

Halo2 hasn't been active for 2 years, so they may not see your recommendation!

A little post on Gunman by RPS. The comments are also interesting: https://www.rockpapershotgun.com/2016/05/11/have-you-played-gunman-chronicles/
