  1. Alan Moore signing

Wicked, cheers. I'll check out the new Orbital and maybe Comicana. Again, FP just has no structure to it, so I go in for two minutes, get completely overwhelmed and irritated and leave again. Talking about signings, I once queued up for ages to get my Lord Of The Rings collected hardcover signed by Christopher Lee. While signing it, he said 'Oh, I have this copy.' To this day, I regret not having the balls to say 'You should have brought it in, I could have signed it for you!' Instead I just smiled awkwardly, and I think he thought I was ignoring him as some old irrelevant relic who's just there to give Weta Digital something to work with, but happens to make books more valuable by writing his name on them. Thankfully, he didn't kill himself over it.

Yeah, Orbital were vaguely helpful but snooty at the same time, and the shop is shit - it's the kind of car-boot sale comic shop that Evan Dorkin hates so much. Where are the others? Comic Showcase (or whatever it was called) has closed down, sadly.

Bit off-topic, but what do you think of Gosh? First time I went in, the clerk gave me his personal copy of the Slave Labor Free Comic Day mini-comic because they'd run out, which was amazing. Every time after that I've been in, they've been unhelpful, sneering Comic Book Guy pricks. Also, they've got two floors and still manage to cram everything into shelves so it's impossible to browse, or find anything. They could do with taking a leaf out of Page 45's book (pun intended) - an amazing Nottingham comic book store.
  4. Shadow of the Colossus: the movie

The first Crank film felt very much like a GTA movie to me - running round a city in various vehicles, most of them nicked; topping up his 'health' periodically; silly storyline; the whole aesthetic, map-zooms, etc; and the rubbish rent-an-ethnic-gangsta baddies...
  5. Shadow of the Colossus: the movie

Damn. Yeah, directed by Mike Mignola!
  6. Queensday gone wrong

Jesus! I'd like someone to wipe all their memories and relocate them to a life as factory workers in East Europe, clone their bodies and pretend they all suddenly died of inbreeding so we can put the bodies in open caskets. Then abolish the monarchy so the extended royal family and hangers-on all have to go and get jobs, sell off all their property to rich Americans, put the money to use on our schools and hospitals, and teach the world to sing.

BUT SURELY THERE MUST BE SOME GAMES YOU'D LIKE TO SEE TURNED INTO FILMS, KARIMI, IF YOU HAD TO ADAPT ANY GAME INTO THE BEST MOVIE POSSIBLE WHICH WOULD YOU ADAPT AND HOW? And it can't be a CG animated film.
  8. The OTHER Pirate Bay thread...

So what's going on with this now? I can't find any more recent news than the verdict. Are they in jail until the appeal starts/is granted? Has the appeal gone straight into effect, so it's back to trial business as usual for another 3 years?
  9. Yay! Have spammed it, and a couple of games written by friends - but they're all awesome and free. Well worth half an hour each at least (except for BTDT, which is well worth playing through thoroughly for as long as possible). EDIT: posted at same time as Thunderpeel - will take down BTDT if requested!

  20. Pirate Bay lads found guilty!

Bloody hell. So, why is the site allowed to keep going, then? Or is that the defendants putting a brave face on it? Also, do these guys have jobs? Do/did they get any profit from PB?
  21. Life

    Fuck my life.
  22. Shadow of the Colossus: the movie

Anyone else got any games they've thought could be adapted well? If you HAD to adapt any game into the best movie possible, which would you adapt? And it can't be a CG animated film - too easy! What if you were forced to reboot the Mario Bros film franchise? Should this be a new thread..?
  23. Movie/TV recommendations

Yeah, the psychic was completely pointless as well. Christ, Davies, can't you build a bit of suspense without resorting to hack cliches like that?

Agreed on Death Race! Phew! Good point with the Pratchett quote, but then Dwarf also did evil twins in series 5! I thought the new Doctor Who special was pretty good, apart from Lara fucking Croft being the temporary companion.
