Surprised Thunderpeel hasn't posted here yet - we went to see a test screening of Attack The Block yesterday. TP's awesome mate and I thought it was hugely flawed (although well-directed with small flashes of cool/funny/scary), old thicky-Thunder-thicky-Peel-thicky thought it was pretty good.

I liked the direction of your questions, Speedy, but I think they were a little narrow. You really hemmed him into very specific areas. The shorter and more general ones were better. (I think avclub does brilliant interviews, for reference.) But yeah, he did seem to want to talk more about mechanics than meanings.

I know. I can't believe it's real, but it is.

Yeah, I was actually surprised to walk into Rango and see so many kids. I'd imagined it would be getting an older audience, but it didn't really bother me when they made a bit of noise throughout as it is really a kids/family film. When someone's selfish enough to bring a wired infant into a 12A film mostly about philosophical concepts, that pisses me off. I nearly went up to them after the film and told them they'd ruined the film for me, but I didn't want to upset the kid or get punched in the face. Tellingly, when they left the cinema, they all went to the toilet or whatever and left the 3 year old to run out into the shopping centre on her own. I actually had to follow it to make sure it didn't get hurt or lost until a minute or so later when they realised it had gone and came out looking for it. Pricks.

I'm only able to read very lightweight books at the minute, because I'm reading them in short commute bursts. So I had to give up Book Of Dave by Will Self and am now reading the Alien novelisations by Alan Dean Foster. My mum also gave me Fragment, because it's billed as 'Lost meets Jurassic Park'. Should be pretty crappy sub-Crichton stuff, but readable in 5 minute chunks. Any recommendations for a better quality of snack-reading? I would try to get into Robert Rankin or Pratchett, but there's so much there and I hate just diving into the middle of a series.

Agreed on Rango, worth seeing. Agreed on TAB although I would probably give it one more thumb than TP - I thought it was smart and interesting all the way through, even if it sometimes fudges its way through specifying their line between free will and destiny. Unfortunately, some cunt dragged their 3-year-old along with them and it made noise all the way through, which really hampered my enjoyment. Also saw Battle: Los Angeles, which has some tremendous crash bang wallop and Aaron Eckhart, but unfortunately is also chock-full of cheese and every war cliche you could think of, plus Michelle Rodriguez. It's ID4 post-9/11, basically. Drive Angry 3D was alright, but a bit dull. Better than Machete (which I thought was dreadful) but not as good as Grindhouse/Planet Terror.

Yeah, Sheen would really work well with Christopher Guess if they could get him on too...

I bet Jayel can imagine that.

Yep, another tech question. I am having trouble torrenting LEGAL FILES with Chrome and Bit Torrent. I've started getting the message "Unable to download "[filename]": invalid torrent file!" whenever I try. The only solution anyone gives on the internet is to clear your browser cache - I did that the first time and it worked. The second time, I had to restart the browser after doing it for it to work. Now it's not fixing it. I also tried opening it in IE, and direct from the folder, but get the same response. Anyone got any ideas on whether there may be something that is immediately refilling the cache, or if there may be another cause to this?

So, this happened again. I torrented one file, then tried another and it threw up the same problem, and so did another one. I closed my client (and perhaps my broswer), waited for a while and then tried again and it worked. So I'm wondering if the client gets overloaded or something. Weird. EDIT: also, it seems to take much longer than it should, once I get it working again (perhaps I'm imagining this, though, or it's coincidence). Maybe I should uninstall then reinstall the client...

He seems to currently be doing this: http://orsomething.co.uk/

Pro-tip: the only way to get it out of your head is to listen to it again. If that doesn't work, try again.

Oh, it's from a sketch show, I think. But it still topped the Irish music charts for ages! WARNING: it is now stuck in your head for days.

Don't think I've ever noticed her on that, although there may be eps I've not watched since meeting her. Presumably they would have got your Irish crew in for FT, anyway.

Love that vid. That's Peter Serafinowicz doing the voiceover, and a lovely make-up lady playing the widow, fyi.
