If the forums are getting a polish, should we make this the thread for actual suggestions and requests? Like, I'd love the quick-search box up top to automatically display as posts rather than threads, or at least have a toggle. Also, there are little niggles with one of the 'first unread' buttons and the sticky threads... Sorry if these are things you don't want brought up, or this is not the best way. (Did there used to be a whole board for this type stuff or am I imagining it?)

Ah, thanks Nach. So this was Dorkly expanding on their own idea, I guess? Meanwhile, I agree with Ron "Dave" Gilbert that Limbo is not an adventure game.

It was quite restrained, but I thought that matched Jung's rigid outlook and methods quite well. I'm not sure I could call it bland with all the sexual fetishes flowing. It did drag a little in the last 15 minutes or so, though.

Yep, but like I say, there are a few minor variations out there.

So they're negating AvP's Charles Bishop Weyland character. Good. And is it just me, or is Guy Pearce channelling John Hurt, there? I saw A Dangerous Method last night, it was excellent. Brilliant turns by the three leads.

I've never seen Weekend At Bernie's, and I still managed to get a reference into TGP!

Yeah... I guess in my head it was something like this: But that's not quite how the Bernard-only version was, is it? Then again, there are at least 3 different versions of it that I've seen with a quick Google, including one on a double-pack with Hit The Road which shows more landscape to the left of Purple.

Hooray! (I assume you can't do a without-logo version of it, as you haven't for the main one..?)

First they came for the session musicians and I said nothing...

Yes, we are! Okay, okay, addendum: the second, voiced, cutscene starts with the solution of the first, unvoiced puzzle. I'm taking the morning off because my foot is fucked due to old deep-tissue and ankle injuries plus current plantar fasciitis, and I've got a post-op check-up this afternoon, at which I'm hoping my amazing weight loss will be noted and commended. I want a pat on the head. EDIT: shouldn't YOU be getting work done?
-
To be exact: the intro was voiced, then you get the first puzzle where you're Bernard in the foyer unvoiced, then you get a second long cutscene voiced, then nothing else is voiced until the outro (where did the voices start back up? Was it from ?).

Broken images there, LS. Didn't realise you did the BTTF game cover, good work! And thanks for your efforts with the soundtracks and posters - I've visited those pages a lot! I still can't work out what would be the best way in the UK to get a large good-quality printout of some of those posters to hang on my wall, though. I'd love to have the MI2 and DOTT covers up. Although, if I had one request, it would be to have the Bernard-only version of the DOTT poster, as that's the one I always remember from the front cover.

"SSX"? "DLC", more like. No, wait, "$$X" more like.

No, I'm talking about with voice. I can understand it being necessary for some people watching films or tv, where modern sound mixing can easily obscure dialogue clarity (although I'm with Thrik on this - I'd rather miss a few lines than fuck up the delivery of every single one - so I won't be watching a DVD with synth any time soon), but dialogue+text in Lucasarts adventures where the delivery is crisp and you have various adjustable volume levels? CRAZY MAD PERSONS. One huge improvement for me in Sam And Max Season 2 was being able to turn subtitles off before the game started, rather than after the intro cutscene.

Syndicate 2011 seems to be the game that started the dubstep trend with that amazing Skrillex cover of some of the original Syndicate music. More of it here: Even the GI Joe 2 movie trailer has used wub wub now, with a dubstep cover of Seven Nation Army (which worked so well that it almost made me want to see the movie).

I saw an image a while back that did that exact same joke, specifically with the spider, but better. Was that on these forums?

Yeah, if one's having trouble understanding the speech, I totally understand using the subtitles. But doing it just as a preference with no particular reason? LUNACY.

At first when I watched that, my heart sank as she laughed along with it. Then I got about 9 minutes in and she's given up on laughing and subtle hints about it being creepy, and just started saying "don't say that" (which of course he ignores). I only wish she'd managed to do something like take his team all the way to the final then blatantly throw the fight while telling Aris to go fuck himself. I almost got a bigger shock from Henroid saying this, though: Henroid, am I to understand you think WWE isn't fake?

Here's the link to the RPS interview, as everyone else was too lazy. I'm a bit late to the voice-acting discussion, but I just wanted to say that the voice-acting in DOTT, SnM, FT and GF was all superb and definitely improved on the writing to my mind. And "you could play without subtitles, but I don't know who would" is the complete opposite of what I thought until now. Do most people really play with subtitles? It's madness! Re. AGS, I'm pretty sure it's gone open-source already but the community is having trouble managing their efforts to take advantage of it. I'd certainly be a bit worried if Tim announced they were using AGS, knowing how many quirks Dan came up against making BTDT and TGP. Having said that, perhaps (SCUMM aside) paying one person to overhaul the now open-source AGS into something wonderful might be better than starting from scratch or finding a different engine that be good for 2D and for Tim and Ron to get their hands dirty.

Looks like they're more likely to hit about $2.8M now. I'm super-tempted by the $100 rewards, but I'm not convinced the docu extras and the book will be worth $85.

Can I have the 50% off Machinarium, please Thunder?

Yeah, Syndi-Cate is a bit of a girly name for a cyborg agent.
