  1. LOST

Orvidos: that's a ridiculous thing to say. It was a unique, thoroughly entertaining, smart, exciting show with great acting, writing, score, direction, production design, cinematography. brkl: which elements? What was wrong with the final season arc?
  2. Mass Effect 3

You watched up to season 5 and got so sick of it by that point you didn't want to watch one more season to see how it wrapped up? Don't you at least want to find out all the answers? Sort of on-topic: I love how every time I click 'next' onto this thread the first thing I see is Toblix's passive-aggressive complaint OP.
  3. Life

Yes, but then the joke doesn't work.
  4. I pledged $5 and accidentally didn't click on the Uber-Buddy package. Can you fix that for me, please, Jake?
  5. Life

    Is it a Schrodinger?
  6. Unnecessary Comical Picture Thread

That's the problem with Britain today. Wouldn't catch them listening to that shit in the forties.
  7. Plug your shit

I think he's asking if this is just restricted to Manny's model or if you're doing a complete overhaul of the game's models, or perhaps if this will be playable in the full game..?

I like stuff jumping out at me from time to time, and attention-grabbing depth, though. Hugo had its fair share of justifiable in-your-face moments, iirc. It's always disappointing when you go see a film like Toy Story 3 and they're being so subtle and "don't worry, we won't throw things at you, we're artists" about it that you can't actually tell it's in 3D. Which reminds me, Harold & Kumar 3D makes excellent use of the format and is a very enjoyable film to boot.
  9. Beyond Better & Evil!

Sounds like we need a Beyond Good And Evil Deluxe fan project!

As well as Avatar, the 3D Resident Evil movie, Cloudy With A Chance Of Meatballs and, to a lesser extent, Coraline all did 3D well. Most other 3D films I've seen don't. I find this site helpful too: realorfake3d.com This seems like the kind of thing that Thunder ranted about - it sounds like you now don't like a film which is heavily colour-corrected and graded etc throughout to give it a painterly and otherworldly feel, just because one scene set in a dingy firelit pub has an orange tint!
  11. Hmmph, those links aren't working. Can anyone recommend a good stream downloader plugin for Chrome? EDIT: this seems to have worked for me.
  12. Dead State

I'll be interested to see how the chips fall between this and Project Zomboid.
  13. Obligatory comical YouTube thread

Maybe they're too polite not to.
  14. Movie/TV recommendations

I'll have Rodi's back on this one. Re. O&T, maybe I just can't see it unless it's a movie poster, but I don't remember Hugo being like that at all. It was sepia tones, if anything, with Melies-inspired splashes of different bright colours.
  15. Awesome, thanks all. I will consider these Idle Thumb Videocasts.
  16. Don't suppose there'll be an easy way to download these at any point?

Maybe if you put in 1st January it should say "riiigggghht, surrrrre, January the first." but still let you in.
  18. Will there be any Double Fine-esque live shenanigans for the countdown in a few hours (not that I'll be awake)?
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

And what about the bit where he said that William H. Macy as a deadbeat drunk dad and a very good Joan Cusack as an agoraphobic neighbor are one character?

This is what I think every time I go to watch a trailer!
  21. What would Molydeux

I always imagined that game jams involved a load of small teams (1-3 people, I guess) working on their own games, but the blurb on that main site made it sound a bit more like everyone at one location would work together. How's it likely to work for WWMD?
  22. Movie/TV recommendations

One? I don't remember any gestalt entities in the UK version...
  23. Fallout: New Vegas

Yeah, I remember this being the issue of the day about a year ago or so. I don't think Metacritic have appointed themselves anything, they've just come up with their own system, the workings of which they're clear about (even if they won't disclose what weight they put on which sites). It's not their fault that publishers are dicks. It's a good site for finding lots of reviews in one place, but I totally agree that the 'Metacritic Score' is pretty much meaningless. It was a little frustrating to see TGP get a load of 90% reviews, and hold at a 87% Metacritic score (which is very useful for the Steam page) only to see it dragged down to 84% because out-of-five marks are translated directly to percentages, and one particularly crappy, unheard-of amateur website which is inexplicably on Metacritic's list gave it an low score because they don't like British humour while foreign Eurogamer and the like high-scoring reviews were ignored.

You mean William Atherton? He's not the real baddy, the amazing Bill Sadler is. Although Atherton is not to be sniffed at, he's generally great. Die Hard 2 is pretty bad, though.
