The Cave: Ron Gilbert's Double Fine Game (A Tim Schafer Production) (Not Double Fine Adventure)
Ben X replied to Nappi's topic in Video Gaming
I thought that at first, but having seen how bad it is and given up on the forums almost immediately (with the exception of a few threads like that one posted by Chris and linked to here recently), I'm pretty sure Tim et al will have had a similar reaction and are ignoring most of it. Even if the forums were 90% reasonable discussion, I'm sure DF are confident enough of their own tastes and decison-making that they wouldn't be swayed too much by them. -
I heard terrible things about the US The Killing, mostly through avclub.com. I watched Forbrydelsen seasons 1 and 2. The first one was pretty cool at first for its downbeat, Danish vibe, but dragged on way too long with, as JamesM says, far too many silly sub-24 twists. The second season was pretty much a carbon copy of the first but more outlandish. I wouldn't really recommend it overall for the amount of effort it takes.

Done, with most of my answers agreeing with the majority.

Idle Thumbs Progresscast The Tenth One If our podcast drove off a cliff with wild abandon, some wheels off, and possibly on fire, would you follow? We can only hope so, as the Idle Thumbs Kickstarter Progresscast: The Tenth One is fast approaching. Didn't see a thread yet, and I wanted to talk about Batman so I made one!

WadjetEye Games 50% off everything! This weekend only!

Just listened to this interview, Speedy, and have tweeted it. It's very interesting, you're a great interviewer! Well done, and thanks for mentioning my question! (I also enjoyed the one you did with Chet F from Valve, but if you're unfortunate enough to get glitches or microphone-bashes like that, may I suggest that you put the volume right down for them? I'd much rather miss a word and be able to work out what it was than be wincing in pain.) -
I watched about ten minutes and didn't like it, can't remember exactly why. Perhaps it's because I studied film, but I think I found his style overbearing or vapid or something. Stupid old man's brain...

Ok, that wins.

I don't want to sound like I'm going for the hard sell, but QI is on every week and I only ever hear stories from mates about queuing for ages then getting turned away. This monkey band, I dunno. Scrobbs: no excuse! Come to London specially to see the floods of Thumbs who are just about to answer this thread!

Jesus, that bbx1138 was a real loser. Anyway, I want to kickstart some IRL Thumb community gatherings. Although it's proved unsuccessful in the past, my go-to is cinema marathons. So: BTTF trilogy 27th July Friday 13th marathon 13th July (considering preceding home-based Nightmare marathon, then post-marathon completion-marathon (ie Jason X and FvJ). If none of this tickles anyone's fancy, then howsabout just, y'know, going for a beer?

Jesus Fuckballs, this is one of those (many) Thumbs threads where I'm itching to step in and explain each participator's opinion to the others, but then realise I'll only make it worse or end up a white knight. Anyway, I thought that the Mal-kicks-henchman-into-engine moment added to his character. I was quite shocked that such an ostensibly mainstream show would allow the hero to do that, comedy beat or not.

That was actually the case for one draft of the script. Verhoeven asked for it, but then realised it felt too much like a Euro art movie and got Neumeier to take it out again.

Good thing you don't also have a relative who got bitten by a zombie, AteBit, you'd barely be able to play the game.

Some convincing points there about Avengers.

There's no way I'm watching it again for a while, there's not that much to it.

I'm sure there are ten or so of you. I didn't like Buffy or Angel much, but I thought everything about Firefly was excellent. Sharp writing, great acting (from most of the regulars at least, and no real weak links), interesting fleshed-out universe and backstories. It didn't just not get renewed, it got cancelled after 7 or so episodes, which is a massive shame, especially when drek like Warehouse 13 gets season after season.

Second Bakersfield PD. Furthermore, American Gothic. I didn't like Invader Zim so much. I love Vasquez's comics, but his style translates to a very shrieky cartoon. The production values were great, though, and they did capture the feeling of Squee well.

Yeah, Loki was definitely better here than in Thor. But like you say, that trope has been done a lot more effectively many times before.

Finished Forever War and loved it. The sequel was a bit mental and 'late-Hitchhikers/-Red Dwarf novels'. I'm now reading the "companion novel" Forever Peace, and am quite enjoying it now I've been able to disassociate it in my mind from the first one.
