This is the Lovecraft one: http://www.barnesandnoble.com/w/barnes-noble-leatherbound-classics-hp-lovecraft-h-p-lovecraft/1106658815?ean=9781435122963 I don't like the cover art on that one as much as the Wells or Verne ones, though the interior stuff is great.

I've got the first omnibus: http://www.amazon.co.uk/H-P-Lovecraft-Omnibus-Mountains/dp/0586063226 (comprises At the Mountains of Madness, The Case of Charles Dexter Ward, The Dreams in the Witch-House, The Statement of Randolph Carter, The Dream Quest of Unknown Kadath, The Silver Key, and Through the Gates of the Silver Key). I left it about a year between Mountains Of Madness and Charles Dexter Ward. I was going to read one of the smaller ones, see how I go, but maybe I won't bother!

Thaaaat's the one I was thinking of!

My gut instinct is that your dream is your guilt manifesting. It's really fucking difficult to deal with someone in that situation, especially if you're not the person in their life who should be dragging them towards a possible solution, and sometimes you just have to cut yourself loose, but it still feels bad because you're the one doing it. So, my advice would be to contact her via email/letter and let her know that you need to take a while off because of [be neutrally honest about the bullshit that caused you to step back]. Advise her, and let her know that when she's gone to therapy or done whatever is needed to get herself in a place where she 's ready to get back in touch with you without the bullshit, you'll be waiting. If enough people say "I love you, but you're destructive right now", hopefully she'll realise she needs to do something about it. EDIT - but be prepared to get ignored or chewed out, and just hope that if that happens, at some point down the line she'll realise she wants to get back in touch and will remember that you said you'd be ready when she is, with no emotional guilt-trip, and take you up on that offer. NB - I have no fucking idea what I'm talking about. Everyone please feel free to point it out if I'm talking shit here.

After slogging through The Mountains of Madness, fInally managed to finish The Case Of Charles Thingummy Ward and goddamn does this guy write slowly. I mean, slowly mounting horror is all well and good, but for a modern reader Lovecraft is lot of work with not much pay off. I might just read the first page, the middle couple of pages and then the last few pages of the rest of his stuff, just to get the idea (or wait for the Del Toro adap's, whichever comes first).

thestalkinghead, you seem to be trying really hard to see the worst in feminism. You're in a forum full of feminists, male and female, saying, basically, "feminism is about equality for men and women, which by the way will involve bringing up the rights of women because in general they have it worse" and yet you're instead focusing on all these unreasonable, unnamed feminists whom you don't want to cite. Can someone please link to some 101s on the definition of feminism and the "I agree with you but your tone is wrong" trope? I think there's a feminism wiki that lists all that stuff. I'm pretty sure a lot of people here will have it at their finger tips but if not, I'll go find it.
-
Can you link to some of this, please?
-
This is pretty much the exact definition I have for feminism. Equal rights for men and women. Yeah, it's a misleading label, but that's just semantics, it's pretty easy to ignore.

Finally got to see this, didn't enjoy it at all. It looks great (although the character design is inconsistent and ugly at times) but it's slow, meandering and preachy.

Chris: "Oh, I know butt."

Would "Creamo" be a Good Nickname for Chris Remo?
Ben X replied to TychoCelchuuu's topic in Idle Banter
I always thought "I know" Remo would be good, as Chris tends to say "oh, I know, but..." a lot.- 34 replies

Recommend me some good two-player co-ops! (Please!)

I think I'll keep it simple and stick to native PC games for the time being. -

Problems with vine and vimeo videos, seemingly due to html5/Windows issues, fixable only by viewing in Firefox with a media thing disabled. Mentioned here: https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/7771-broken-age-double-fine-adventure/page-9#entry251084 and here: https://www.idlethumbs.net/forums/topic/6706-plug-your-shit/page-52#entry252532 I'm running Chrome v29.0.1547.66 m (the most up to date version, apparently) on Windows 7 Home Premium, 64-bit OS, on a Dell Inspiron 1545 (I think). I have a fair few plug-ins, but I've tried disabling all the ones I've seen suggested (Quicktime, Adobe etc) with no success. (NB I have found a workaround, mentioned above, this is just a thread to find or keep an eye out for any more permanent solutions.)
-
No, that's for Chrome and it didn't work for me. Mine was to use Firefox and follow this: https://support.mozilla.org/en-US/kb/vine-and-other-html5-videos-wont-play
