  1. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Really? It was my first adventure game and even at a young age I got into the swing of it pretty easily. Most of the puzzles made sense and seemed well signposted to me. People might have problems with the logic if they haven't watched enough Looney Tunes, though!
  2. Feminism

Yeah, a quick search online shows that one in two or three definitions includes friends, so fair enough. Language changes etc, though it annoys me a bit when it seems to be creating redundancies (why generalise out the specific term "nepotism" when we've already got "favouritism"?). But anyway, semantics, meh, sorry if I got pedantic there. I'm curious about Clyde's statement though: Are you talking about the games industry or generally? Because I got a few (non-industry) competitive jobs without knowing anyone, purely on the basis of CV and interview... This is all a bit off-topic, though, so yeah those Mega-Man guys are arseholes.
  3. Feminism

I've only ever known 'nepotism' to mean family. I suppose if you're someone's girlfriend that's close enough to being their wife for it to fit, but when it gets to "people you know" the term starts to become a bit vague and pointless. I do think Chris Remo getting a Community Manager job at Double Fine was well dodgy, though.
  4. Games giveaway

    Yes please!
  5. Couldn't believe it! I really enjoyed Deja Q and Yesterday's Enterprise. The latter felt very LOST to me.
  6. Decided to watch the final S2 episode, because all season closers are bound to be comparatively good, so -- what the hell, Riker clip show?!
  7. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

Ah yes. So, Schafer-esque but not goofy, silly, cartoonish... that's a tougher question (outside of FT and GF, obv). I guess Schafer-traits are inventive settings, well-defined characters and sardonic dialogue...
  8. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

I think that Day Of The Tentacle (co-directed by Schafer) is a good intro to adventure games as well - it eases you into the full game slowly, and even if there are one or two unfair or tough puzzles, the game's logic and UI is pretty consistent and clear. And it's a brilliant game in general. Beyond that, Sam And Max Hit The Road and *cough* the two Dan And Ben adventures that I worked on are good adventures with a similar sensibility. Any other "Schafer-esque" games that people can think of?
  9. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

It's not, you need to wait until he's looking up so you can get him square in the face.
  10. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

You have to wait until he's looking up so you can get him square in the face, I think.
  11. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

I heard they've changed engines three times already and spent all their money on Brad Pitt's mo-cap and it's only coming out in 2020 for the SteamBox.
  12. It's beginning to look a lot like...

You guys realise you ruined Christmas by keeping your avatars on all year, right?
  13. Woah woah woah, I don't want to watch the whole damn series!
  14. Nice, thanks! I want to watch the one where Darth Vader kills Yar as well, so I'll stick that one in too, plus any Q eps I spot.
  15. Broken Age - Double Fine Adventure!

We're allowed to discuss the new casting now, right? I like all the choices!
  16. It's difficult to find lists of best TNG eps in production order. Any trekkoids fancy listing around 10 to 20 must-watch episodes in prod order for me..?
  17. Plug your shit

    I love lamp marine.
  18. Well, I couldn't bring myself to watch any more TOS, so I've skipped forward to NG and am an hour in to the opening two-parter. SPOILERS FROM HERE: It's interesting that they immediately go with the "god-like alien dressing up in period clothing" trope so familiar from TOS. So far, it feels more considered and less goofy, but also quite stilted and not very fun. I like Picard's characterisation as a grumpy old bastard, though, and I guess that matches well. With all that, though, the crew still seems to be full of people who need to be told off every five seconds for emotional outbursts. Plus ça change... I like the way they've retroactively explained the awkwardly short skirts of the female uniforms in TOS by putting some female crewmembers in trousers and some male crewmembers in skirts. Very clever! Favourite line is Data's: "I'm sorry sir, I appear to be commenting on everything." Also, cool to see a 137 year old Bones McCoy, though he seems to have gone a bit redneck in his extreme old age, boyyy.
  19. No Man's Sky

Yeah, in a procedurally-generated universe, that seemed pretty clear to me. I'm not sure how you didn't get that, Thorn, or why you not getting it means the game either won't be completed or will be pretentious!
  20. Twitter

Absolutely agree. I was annoyed when they started introducing long tweets and the like, it ruins the whole concept. We already have blogs and forums for long-form statements or discussions. I'm often surprised how much I can cram into 140.
  21. Nelson Mandela Dies at 95

*goes to Wikipedia to find out the TRUTH about Nelson Mandela*
  22. Life

Ha ha, I was just coming back to post something similar. "My weakness is answering stupid questions. I overcome that weakness by going meta."
  23. Life

Whatever answer I come up with for the weakness question, it always sounds in my head like "I am shit at this thing. The way I will cope with that is by not being shit at that thing!" If you've found a way to deal with the weakness, it's no longer a weakness. I might make it one of my questions at the end when they ask me if I've got any.
  24. The Official Video Game Music Corner

We liked him before he went mainstream. So, I have no idea whether we should now put everything here or keep all the various threads active when needed, but here are three VGM renditions/remixes: One of few reasons why a DOTT Special Edition would have been worthwhile: Made the trailer amazing and was probably my introduction to wub-wub: y3TrjEuXuNw A cheap one because I worked on Gibbage (RIP):
