  1. Okay, cool, thanks! Here's a table of broadcast dates if anyone wants it: http://startreklist.blogspot.co.uk I'm going to try and watch DS9 and Voyager in broadcast order now. I wish I'd realised that DS9 and TNG overlapped, as I would have done that too. Never mind. Just watched the opening scene of DS9 and it was brilliant! A cool idea and a dramatic start to the series, the visual effect shots are a lot more dynamic and integrated (something that started happening towards the end of TNG - an example that caught my eye was Yar and Picard approaching the Enterprise in All Good Things), and it's very energetically directed.
  2. Thanks! I very much appreciate your and Gorm's advice. I just watched the TNG series finale and found it a little draggy and small, although I liked the circularity of it - reminded me of the final Quantum Leap episode.
  3. SAM, any chance you could bold the best of the best as well? Not sure I can handle this much Trek!
  4. I'd ideally like to watch in broadcast order (ie with DS9 and Voyager overlapping when appropriate), if we have both DS9 and Voyager lists available. If no one is able to make an informed DS9 list, I could compile some online lists and use wikipedia to put them in order, or something... Currently watching Inheritance: it's that actress from LOST!
  5. Plug your shit

You just do donuts in the parking lot until the items all get mixed together?
  6. General Video Game Deals Thread

I was tempted by Monkey Island, but apparently GOG only has the version with no Earl Boen in Ep1 and sound issues in Ep 2...

    Cloverfield?
  8. Movie/TV recommendations

Well Ben, it integrates very well in that it looks just as good as the main feature and all the effects are fantastic. However, even though it is definitely a superior ending to the post-test-screening whitewash, this version of it doesn't work as well as it could, because they haven't finalised the editing or sound and optical effects (and probably not the sound mix either). It's too long and very loose, and the song "Don't Feed The Plants" isn't great anyway (although it may be compromised by this cut's unfinished state) - it doesn't stand up to the melancholy of Rocky Horror's "Superheroes" and yet doesn't quite match the B-movie action onscreen. It's a real shame that they didn't/couldn't put the time and money into properly finishing it, but you can mentally squint a bit, and it's brilliant to finally have an ending that matches the dark nature of the whole film. Just needs a fan-edit to tighten it up now...
  9. Anyone Remember?

Didn't Chris say, in Ep 136 No Man's Guy, that you get a bunging hook in Samarost 2?
  10. I'm surprised Chris hadn't heard of Day Of The Triffids, especially as that's (presumably) what the game title "Day Of The Tentacle" is riffing on.
  11. Spooooiilers! I think I'll try a lot of those S6 eps in your second list, SAM, they sound fun. JKO: Wes, imo, doesn't bear much of a resemblance - looks more like Winona Ryder. Data looks a little angry now, too... The rest are fantastic though, and I think you've nailed Beverley, so to speak.
  12. Let's Draw Video Games

Get a good body of work up on there and I'll tweet it for you, I'm sure others here would too. That should get the views up.
  13. SAM, I meant that up til now I'd only seen bits and pieces of TNG which weren't great - thanks to your list I've realised that it was legitimately great telly at points. Are you considering watching all of DS9? Or just the top 20 or so?
  14. Hooray! It's a shame you're doing them in uniform, otherwise you could have Picard in one of his hideous v-neck things with his grey chest hair poking out.
  15. Life

Double-post because I just found this:

If Thunderpeel were here, he'd say (and in fact just did on Facebook):
  17. Those are looking nice, JKO. I'd say Picard is too beefy in the upper body, though. He always strikes me as quite a skinny, physically non-threatening captain. I'm also working through SAM's list and these episodes are mostly crackers - I'm finally seeing why Star Trek is so popular! I'm also trying to catch all Q, Borg and Lore episodes, which are generally pretty good. Soon I'll be asking for a similar list for DS9, though from what I know of the series, the Dominion War arc might make that trickier (plus I think SAM may have said he doesn't know it as well - I'll be lost!). I'm also looking forward to re-watching Generations and First Contact (I won't bother with the other two TNG flicks). One thing that surprised me watching TNG is that Gates McFadden is rather beautiful; it's just very well hidden by her awful hair and sappy character.

  19. Could you as a compromise have a separate credits page with all reviewers listed, but without attributing specific reviews so as to keep the hive-mind objective feel?
  20. Intoxication in Video Games

This freeware adventure game is based around intoxication and does some interesting stuff: http://www.adventuregamestudio.co.uk/site/games/game/1357/
  21. Presumably it won't cover their subjects or use of the subjective case.
  22. Help identifying song from a video

In all seriousness, it's the Coolio remix.
  23. Cartoons!

I've slowly started watching Adventure Time, and am really enjoying it for all the obvious reasons. The humour walks a fine line between unusual and try-hard wacky, but always manages to stay on the right side by mixing it up a lot. One thing I'm wondering about is that the Netflix series description says it takes place in a post-apocalyptic land. Is this accurate, is it something that gets expanded on at some point? I'm only on episode 6, so I haven't yet seen anything that suggests that, except for the bombed out bit of land at the very top of the titles (which I had initially not taken literally, especially as it also had axes and stuff as well as the nukes, but now realise also has a tv and set of headphones)...
