  1. Licensed music usage

Full Throttle! Licensed an entire album from the Gone Jackals to retro-create a Queen-style rock band soundtrack: EDIT: while fact-checking Queen soundtracks, I discovered that "a rearrangement of an excerpt from Michael Kamen's score for Highlander (specifically, the beginning of the track "The Quickening") was used as the theme music for New Line Cinema's logo indent in the late 1990s and early 2000s"! http://youtu.be/BOteOb3zZqM

Well they fucking shouldn't, it's not International Doughnut Day. Where's my free doughnut?
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

Ooh, yeah, do! As long as you're expecting it to remind you very strongly of a handful of movies, you should enjoy it! Twig: there was at least some meat to Bryan Cranston's character, even if it's rather cliched meat (to the point that they named him Brody), yeah. Personally, I didn't like the I did like the opening titles, though, they were cool.

  5. Life

Is it also National Doughnut Day in Canada?
  6. Shame he doesn't live there now, you could wear a baseball cap and walk past him conspicuously pointing your phone at him.
  7. Surely he'd be the simperingly good counterpart to EVIL Bowser?
  8. Surely he'd be the simperingly good counterpart to EVIL Bowser?
  9. To be fair, I think that should read "didn't exist at all in the game", which I missed at first as well. Continuing to be fair, though, that isn't what Merus was saying either, so it's still pretty blatant trolling, as has been most of Kadayi's contribution to this thread. Anyone got a new episode-related topic to move onto?
  10. Movie/TV recommendations

Okay, thanks, I will do. The more I'm forced to try and remember the title "Edge Of Tomorrow", the more I wish they'd left it as "All You Need Is Kill".

Saw Godzilla, thought it was pretty dreadful except for a twenty-minute sequence towards the very end. Pretty much zero characterisation, a plot that boils down to "army makes really stupid decisions and plans, monsters react" for the most part, and, perhaps most importantly, managing to make Gojira's appearance hugely anti-climactic. Really enjoyed Edge Of Tomorrow - basically mixed with (spoiler tagged just in case someone manages to see it without knowing the high concept, which would be pretty fun), but doing both of those things very well. It becomes less inventive in the last twenty minutes or so, but the momentum carries it through. I've got behind on Fargo (in fact, I still haven't found out if it was indeed a fake-out or not), but I don't know if I'll pick it back up. I'm having a similar problem with it as some are with GoT - it seems to have given up being funny for just being a bit nasty now (and even back when it was still a dark comedy, it didn't feel as precise as the Coens' writing). It still stands head and shoulders above the Dusk Til Dawn adap, though. That was bad. What are some good movie to tv shows? M*A*S*H*, Buffy...
  12. Has anyone done any Drive pastiche Luigi Kart videos yet? Re. AI, does anyone know about the differences in the Half-Life AI over the difficulty settings? I played through it on medium, and then heard that the much-vaunted excellent AI only kicks in on the highest difficulty setting. I did play Blue Shift on difficult but I then had to give up quite early on because the enemies were suddenly crazy aggressive. I was used to those big spitting things staying stuck to the spot!
  13. Wait for them to make another three posts then it'll be gold all the way after that.
  14. um no its 161, try doing maths thats in ur wheel house lol
  15. I'm enjoying this new running joke of a person with <20 posts showing up on an episode thread and acting like they're on a YouTube comment thread!
  16. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

Oh yeah, and they were in the Cos I Got High music video, and the superheroes based on them within the films are a load of pot puns. But that's mostly extraneous, there isn't much "these characters are high!" humour in his stuff.
  17. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

Yep, it's true, he only got into it in the last few years. It's only really his Jay and Silent Bob characters that interact with drugs and even they barely ever get high on-screen. In fact, the only times I can think of are a dream sequence and a meta movie set sequence. Anyway, I can totally understand people finding Smith irritating. I do find him funny and charmingly enthusiastic, but he says a LOT of dumb shit and works best next to someone smarter to call him out on stuff (not bigotry, just anthropomorphising animals and not knowing politics, geography, maths etc).
  18. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

Amazing movie. I just listened to Paul Dini doing a podcast commentary for this with Kevin Smith (they also did 4 eps of TAS and Mask of The Phantasm), which was very interesting. Funnily enough, at one point he mentions the Arkham City bitch thing and how he tried to dissuade them from it.
  19. Movie/TV recommendations

I don't understand half the smileys here
  20. Movie/TV recommendations

But... but... you said it was a shot-for-shot remake!
  21. Oh hey, he did the loading screen for Vroom! which is one of Lacabra's games! Oooh, and he's the guy that did that Half Life trailer where he put all the extra animations in. That was so sweet!
  22. Fargo (TV series)

That's it, Mington. It's completely made up, both film and show. Gormongous, I'd guess it's just a scare, but that doesn't bother me so much as the turn from darkly humourous to grim and nasty that the show has taken.
  23. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

Another question is, why does Batman seem to have a row of dorsal plates under his cloak?
  24. I saw HMC (dubbed) and didn't enjoy it that much, but Mononoke was cool.
