  1. My immediate thought when they started talking about the noises you'd hear in a Sonic sex scene was that you'd hear this music after he's been performing cunnilingus for 20 seconds: but ending with this instead as he comes up for air:

I love Perlman, but his character in that was all wardrobe and props. RE. Lynch, wouldn't The Straight Story be one of his most accessible films?
  3. Would YOU have given him your baseball cap?
  4. Feminism

Ah yeah, you're right. I was reading "express your feelings of support" as a separate statement. Although that bit you quoted kind of contradicts the stuff about not putting the spotlight on it. I guess she's saying you can condemn what's happening to someone as long as you don't refer to the person by their twitter handle, but surely it only takes someone a couple of seconds to find that handle themselves.
  5. Feminism

Helpful, though and seem a little contradictory.
  6. Whoops, I was wrong! I've posted it in there now, anyway.
  7. Feminism

Oh, whoops, I told Justin this was in here, but I actually found it via a comment on this io9 post: http://jezebel.com/screenwriter-bro-just-might-be-hollywoods-biggest-fuck-1440597536 I just assume any feminism-related thing I see now is via this thread! That interview is pretty skeezy but I think the Jezebel article removes a fair bit of context.
  8. Well in that case, I'd like to ask the American forumites about that scene in Jack Reacher where a guy's in a car chase with a load of cops, he jumps out of his car while out of the cops' line of sight, and stands with a load of people waiting at a bus-stop. They wordlessly move to surround him and one guy gives him his baseball cap for extra disguise. You can see it about 2 minutes in here: There's no extra context in the full scene. Was disdain or antagonism towards the authorities really so tangible in 2012 that this felt plausible? Or are we supposed to think that the people helped this felon just because he's so damn cool and ballsy?
  9. The second movie had a transformer pose as a sexy human, though, right? They'd already given the physical transformation thing up ages ago, even if you ignore the incongruity in design that feelthedarkness points out. Oh, and Justin, did you see the Max Landis interview thing on the Feminism thread?

Pacific Rim 2 is happening! I re-watched the first one and it's still ace. If only they'd cut out the it would have felt a lot tighter and the sub-Top Gun stuff elsewhere would have gone down smoother.
  11. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

I found this was true in London but not Nottingham or Cambridge.

That's for The Strain, the new tv show based on the books that Del Toro co-wrote. I read the first one, it was okay. The show looks alright. It's got David Bradley in as a series regular.
  13. Yeah, iirc he has one original puppet from the movie and made a cast of it then used that to make a load of his own. EDIT: there's a link to the making-of in the About blurb.
  14. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

    Yes, exactly.
  15. Awwww, this is all a joke and it's not even in the Criterion Collection! Damned gremlins!
  16. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

This is probably too impractical to be of any use, but Nottingham comic shop Page 45 does a Comic Book Of The Month group with a 20% discount on one book per month: http://www.page45.com/store/comic-book-of-the-month.html

The swamp puzzle isn't actually that clever mechanically - you just remember the correct order of a few actions, right? - but conceptually it's interesting because it creates time-loops and it makes you feel like you've done something more complicated than you did. I think the game has a few nice ideas for big puzzles - getting framed and clearing your name, negotiating time-travel - but it often doesn't execute them very well. Then it has some awful ideas, like the one Ucantalas just spoiled, and the Phantom Menace-level backstory-cannibalising. Re. the perfume puzzle, I think you have a handkerchief from Pegnose Pete and you have to examine it multiple times to get a list of smells, which is a bit cheap as there's no hint that you're able to get new dialogue from re-examining on this one item (perhaps there's dialogue elsewhere that hints at this, though). EDIT: OMG NEW PAGE HOW UNUSUAL AND EXCITING AND YET EMBARRASSING TO HAVE THE SPOTLIGHT SHONE ON ME IN THIS WAY! /satire
  18. You mean Mington stole your turn? Bad Mington! Gremlins 2 is an ace film. I really like the original too, but the sequel has more rewatch value. Did you guys say that you can get the Criterion extras online too? Are there any more than the DVD extras? For those who have ALREADY SEEN Gremlins 2, here's an incredible fan-made VOD-age replacement for the Hulk Hogan bit (which itself was replaced on home video versions):

For anyone who couldn't bear to stick with that gif all the way through, here's a video (might not stay up): http://youtu.be/uaPrmThe3M8 I hope this embeds because the comments are predictably awful, including one girl saying (paraphrasing) "I'm pretty and this never happens to me, just carry a knife around and get over it."

Cineworld just introduced assigned seating. I haven't experienced it yet, but I get the feeling it will cause me to cancel my Unlimited membership after ten years.

I agree with you on Fargo, except I thought
