  1. Feminism

This is why I go with the more specific definition that I gave above - it works that way! I assume you're not saying that if, for example, a man asks a woman about her husband, and she thinks he's being sexist to assume she's married when in fact he had been told by a mutual friend, that he still was being sexist because she thinks it. But I still disagree that it's purely down to the perception of the woman in question. It's a social concept, not an emotion. What if a woman feels she was the victim of a sexist act but there are twenty other women in the room and they all think the man wasn't being sexist? They can't tell her how the act made her feel, but I'd say they can definitely debate whether it was sexist or not.
  2. I also cannot tell anyone but Chris and Danielle apart.
  3. Empire just happened to do a Gremlins week/issue recently. Here's a list of easter eggs etc from the second film (some of them are pretty weak or well-known, but eh): http://www.empireonline.com/features/gremlins-2-viewing-guide
  4. Feminism

That example sounds very specific..! SuperBiasedMan, I may be misreading your post but it seems like you define "manspalining" as a man explaining sexism/feminism etc to other men? I understand it to mean something like Gormongous' example - a man patronisingly explaining the female experience etc to women. It is frustrating, though. when people misuse the term in order to beat down others who simply disagree with them or correct them on a factual error.
  5. Professional stalkers hate this one weird trick!
  6. Even if we do both work at Cambridge Assessment, it'll only be for the next two days because I handed in my notice already.
  7. 1) I thought that had happened a few times now, but all really recently... 2) Plus his first name is Remus!
  8. The Idle Thumbs Store

I voted for Wizard because I feel like I'd never get to show off the glow in the dark and, even though it's a classic Thumbs design, Top Gun references are a little played out and not as Thumbscentric as The Wizard
  9. Movie/TV recommendations

Holy shit! I'm going to have to re-watch this now to make sure I disagree with you. Have you seen any of the other movies/tv show/original story? I'm guessing you've seen and enjoyed the 50s version.
  10. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

That's ace! I especially like it because it's the same kind of thing I was going for with PAL's text adventure in TGP.
  11. Ha ha, only 5 short years later, my attempts at a forum thought exercise are coming to fruition! Especially as we both live in Cambridge!
  12. The Last Guardian

I know, right?! Who the fuck was still buying VHSes by the time Shaun Of The Dead came out?
  13. Ha ha, thanks you two, but I meant the 'game' of picking a video game and saying how we'd adapt it that I tried to get going in that thread! N1nja, I think I remember that! I don't think I meant to sound dejected, I think I meant that loads of people these days buy games and then don't play them for ages or ever.
  14. Best video game adaptation? I say Silent Hill. It's a shame the studio crowbarred Sean Bean's entire character and plot line in, but otherwise it's very effective. I thought Resi Evils 1 and 2 were pretty dire but 3 and 4 (and whichever was the first 3D one) were solid. EDIT: there's a good thread here (except for Horticulture "I don't know how much the rest of you know about film-making (I'm an expert)" Tycoon's contributions) that goes into general video game adap' talk. I still like my Half Life idea. I also like how young me is super-peppy until no one plays my game.
  15. Sure, I'm only talking about this specific article of which the central point is that there's a PC release. If Sony themselves are using the term "console exclusive" in such a way that it's not clear it's on these other platforms at some point, that's a bit ropey.
  16. Movie/TV recommendations

He doesn't say he doesn't care about them at all, he just says he doesn't care who did those jobs. He's just doing a grumpy old man rant about how long movie credits are these days. Plus, I don't know if this applies to all those movies, but apparently he doesn't really make anything from them: http://uk.ign.com/articles/2012/05/15/how-much-did-stan-lee-make-on-the-avengers I also agree with Twig that Lost was great on a moment to moment basis (while disagreeing about the other thing)!
  17. Comics Extravaganza - Pow Bang Smash!

For the few forumites who still live in Nottingham, UK: http://www.page45.com/world/2014/06/bryan-lee-omalley-signing-sketching-at-page-45
  18. Well, I'll provide a link as you're all such goddamn hipsters: http://www.polygon.com/2014/7/9/5883783/alien-isolation-ripley-dlc-preorder
  19. It's the article writer phrasing it that way, plus it says "the game is a console exclusive for the PlayStation platforms", so even though it's badly-written/hamstrung by the silliness of the term exclusive, I think it's pretty clear it means that on consoles it will be exclusive to Sony. Will Sony keep it as exclusive to them on consoles forever, do we think?
  20. Grrr, I'm having more issues with file types and Lightworks. It doesn't like certain .avi codecs. But apparently this is common to a lot of high-end editing software suites, which I find weird. If VLC Player can handle it, surely expensive bits of kit like this should be able to?
  21. Really impressive vid, kickinthehead! But it didn't incorporate my cunnilingus joke, so two thumbs down.
  22. I love how almost everyone is like "what the fuck, br- oh, it's Luigi death stare, awesome!"
