  1. Oh yeah, sorry, pretty sure you said "first DS9" episode now you mention it. Still, I'm proud to have definitely been the cause of you watching that episode. SAM: actually, come to think of it, wasn't the deerstalker from the illustrations in The Strand? Weird that the article just erroneously attributed all that stuff to this actor...
  2. Chris watched Trials And Tribble-ations, his very first Star Trek episode, this week. Coincidence? As we're talking about Sherlock Holmes: Is this true? I'm surprised not even the violin was in the original stories (I read them up to Reichenbach Falls about ten years ago).
  3. Jeff Goldblum

I'm currently reading John Landis' Book Of Monsters (coffee table book with a few nice informal interviews), and he mentions that film, recommending that you watch the Bugs Bunny cartoon of the same name instead.
  4. Dark Messiah

I couldn't find anything with a quick google. A contemporary forum post said that Ubisoft quashed the SDK so it may not have been released.
  5. Dark Messiah

Man, Dan really nails it in his post. I want to be jumping around, throwing crates at people, kicking them off ledges, turning them to ice then smashing them into pieces, like a motherfucking wizard Errol Flynn, but it won't let me. I think I've been convinced to uninstall - I just wish I'd decided that before I fought through hours of fucking poison-cloud-blowing zombies.
  6. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

So, are we all complicit with the sending of syringes to Milo?
  7. Dark Messiah

I finally got round to playing this. I'm not enjoying it that much, unfortunately, because of balancing issues. It could have been an ace game, but the difficulty curve is for shit, and there are far too many weapons and powers that aren't tuned very well or you don't get the chance to use because you're constantly fighting off six enemies at a time and you don't have the time to fuck around. I'm currently about 75% through the game and still have problems killing an orc or zombie, it's crazy. It doesn't have an easy setting, which would have made this a lot closer to the enjoyable orc-kicking/spiking/decapitating simulator I was hoping for.
  8. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

Ugh, what a way to introduce themselves as the SImpsons channel.
  9. Jeff Goldblum

That advert was directed by Tim And Eric, who also did Old Spice ones.
  10. What is the Nadir of the Simpsons?

Wait, FXX chopped off the top and bottom of the 4:3 episodes to make them 16:9?!
  11. Actually, the ratings are all really high, so it could be Danielle. I saw a jpeg about how she's friends with the Thumbs.
  12. Life

WHAAAT?! Goddammit. Oh, and well done, I guess. What's the new job?
  13. "Ethics and Journalistic Integrity"

    Unless the time is 6:38.
  14. And why is it that only this and the 3MA board have topic ratings?
  15. I would not donate to someone's first viewing of BTTF getting ruined!
  16. emote me

Wrong; impossible. Nice work on the emoticons but they don't have the Thumbs forums character imo.
  17. I hadn't considered that Jake might be including that as part of the scene. I love the bit where they match the last shot of 50s Doc from the first film, so you're used to the cut to the 80s courthouse but then it extends and Marty runs in. Brilliant! I'm glad that Jake is lending Chris the blu-rays, that's a good incentive for him to watch them.
  18. Our favourite moments of play

Ok, to get us started, here are a couple from Far Cry ONE: When I first encountered the big military plane things that you have to shoot from the sky, I managed to bazooka it and watched proudly as it exploded into large pieces. Then I realised that it wasn't simply going to disintegrate or fly off smoking to crash offscreen as I was used to in video games, and that I was standing directly under the largest plummeting piece. Splat, reload. When I first encountered the smallest Trigens, in the lab complex, I was about to head down an open stairwell when I noticed one heading up towards me,a few flights away. I positioned myself to aim for the bottom of my flight of stairs, and waited for it to stupidly trudge right into my line of fire. Then it got to the flight opposite me, saw me, and leapt up over the bannister, across the stairwell and straight at me. I wasn't used to FPS enemies doing that, and took the Trigens a little more seriously thereafter.
  19. I'd probably say the Enchantment Under The Sea Dance sequence is my favourite bit of 2 - excellent how they use climaxes from the first film to provide new climaxes for the second. It's a storytelling device that only a time-travel sequel could do; I think Star Trek is the only other franchise to do it, with their anniversary Trials And Tribble-ations episode.
  20. Feminism

In a similar vein to Tegan's Wonder Woman infographic, there was a cancelled Black Widow movie. As a commenter says:
  21. Bobs Gale and Zemeckis answer all your questions (except for the one about Marty and Doc being friends).
  22. A Super Fun Quiz for everyone!

If any more are done, it would be cool if the number of each track were more prominent so you can skip to ones you want to re-check using the thumbnails.
  23. Half-Life 3

And all of them are video games
  24. Feminism

Yeah, but you'd think they'd have at least a normal understanding of it. They all seem to be people who have never been on the internet before.
