Holy shit, I hadn't made this connection. It works especially well with the seventh book where . So, Maddie Bryce leaving Twitter etc - she made kind of a baiting joke, so did she receive a different level of harassment than she was expecting or is used to? Is it that this one joke happened to kick off more than others? It's hard to nail down details out there, even reading through her Twitter feed, and things often get referred to rather obliquely in here!

I can't remember if this is what the Thumbs were saying, but I just want to point out it's not what I was saying. I meant that growing up with older films only available in crappy transfers has probably contributed to a lot of people having an aversion to them. The stylistic differences also figure into it a lot, of course, but I think being able to watch, say, Lawrence Of Arabia on one's telly and have it look just as gorgeous on one's telly as Prometheus might make those differences more palatable. Then again, looking at that Reddit thread makes me think some people are just morons. Anyway, the conversation may have simply moved past my point onto yours, but I wanted to clarify!

And the same to you for SJW!

This isn't coming out until next year here. Seems like that's happening a lot more again recently - I thought we'd got to the point where everything was released everywhere within a few days. That's interesting, what do you mean by that? I haven't really attributed an identity to that studio's output, outside of 'Dreamworks Face'.

...spoil the Hoth? Seriously, though, I don't get the point here. They've got too many creatives working on the franchise? Too many films planned at once, MCU style?
-
I think that justifies a mention to the management, tbh.
-
Mington, my non-plot-spoilery opinion -

Ah, thanks. Yeah, I conflated the two references. Fucking hell. And apparently the photos do match the crime scene.

Oh, I forgot to say, one brilliant thing about it:
-
Yeah, I'm happy with all the director choices - should hopefully get some fun, zippy space opera out of them!

Christmas came for Twig!

In case it wasn't clear, my 'quality creep' remark was a joke. I don't think that the impulse to "be better" is a poor design method!
-
I've seen it! Briefly:
-
Which murder of a woman for rejecting a guy's advances is that article and Zoe Quinn's tweet referring to? The only case I'm aware of is Mary Spears, but that was a month ago. Has the verdict just been returned or something?

#yourshieldwillbequiteoperationalwhenyourfriendsarrive I agree that the title is generic or vague, but no more than the others, that's why it fits! In fact, I'd say Return Of The Jedi doesn't really fit the story of that film, and Attack Of The Clones is purposefully misleading - a gag that you can only understand once you've seen the film. No, but you said ""The Force Awakens" can be applied to literally any first installment of a Star Wars trilogy, whatever the premise."
-
Uh oh, sounds like 'quality creep' to me...
-
So I don't think you can say that the title of a piece doesn't say anything meaningful about the piece if you barely know anything about the piece. Also disagree. It doesn't apply to, say, Episode 1 unless you really stretch. (And if you want to stretch, how about a Star Wars trilogy that opens with the last Jedi being killed off and carries on to be about bounty hunters and smugglers?) Mington - that's ace! Hope your friend doesn't also have an uncle who works for Nintendo...
-
You haven't seen the movie yet! I'm guessing this reveals their justification for the movie being set 30 years after ROTJ - the awareness of the Force has been made all but extinct, as Luke is the only Jedi left and he's had minimal training. Ep VII will involve some big new threat forcing Luke to step things up and reawaken the Force in the eyes of the galaxy. I think the subtitle fits perfectly well with all the others - they're supposed to be cheesy Republic Serial sounding episode titles.
