The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Ben X replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
That's an ace idea. I'd also hire a super-skilled white-hat hacker and have him basically be Internet Batman, taking down all the nasty hacker and doxxer assholes out there. -
Why is SAM, who already owns a multimeter, getting given advice on where to buy one cheap? How about some UK-centric deals, hah?

Remember to shout when the plan comes off.

Blade Runner Final Cut is getting a theatrical release in April. Looks like BFI have made a digital print of it. Prince Charles Cinema in London is one of the places showing it.

Maybe once I've got a job..!

The Business Side of Video (Space) Games EXCLUSIVELY ON IDLE THUMBS
Ben X replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
As I tweeted earlier, Atari just need to sit there quietly doing nothing until 2019 so their logo appearing in Blade Runner isn't weird, then time to die. Here's an interesting interview with Al "Leisure Suit Larry" Lowe about, amongst other things, Sierra getting fucked by a hostile takeover. -
Good luck with that, sounds tough! Please remind us about it nearer the time, hopefully I'll be able to donate then. To make this thread backwards-compatible, here are previous individual charity things: desert-bus-for-hope mario-marathon-for-charity charity-bike-ride-ataxia-spring-classic

Denouement: The amazingly wonderful Synnah has experience building PCs, and also happened to have a spare PSU. He came round and plugged it in for me and the PC immediately worked fine again! So I now need to contact Corsair and hope I can RMA my broken PSU. Such a relief it wasn't the motherboard, that would have been a major pain in the arse for various reasons. Thanks Synnah, and thanks everyone else for the advice

Dawww, thanks, you two.

So they actually used old cameras to film it? That's ace, I always get annoyed by tv shows that feature "old" footage which obviously was filmed on a 2015 camera and put through a post-production filter.

Agreed! At least it was doing something beyond "hey, remember [video game]?!" and that's actually a really nice performance for a non-actor cameo, imo. The rest makes it looks pretty awful though. And not for 'logic' reasons - this is a silly comedy, not Interstellar! It has to be 1982 to get the games in the time capsule; maybe it fell through a wormhole? Or some other alien technology? And maybe the technology the aliens used to make living pixel things limited them to pixel-based weaponry?

Dammit, after all that fucking about with gems, I could have just waited and saved about 20p and a lot of time getting Dredd Vs Death!

Spoilers on the Better Call Saul discussion, please everyone, I haven't seen the latest episode yet! I don't mind how Saul is being characterised -

I tried swapping over the power and reset button connectors at the motherboard and using the reset button to turn on, but that didn't work either. So I don't think it's the power button... undermind - that thread seems mostly for people in the midst of building their PC. Mine has been working fine for 2 years and now just stopped. I shouldn't think it's stuff like things not being connected properly etc (could be wrong, of course, being a noob)...

*headsplode* Could be the CMOS battery for all I know, how do you check for that? Just replace? Also, damn it but forums have become complicated these days. How do I actually read the whole of that post?! Never mind, the "see full content" link finally came up.

I don't have one of those, but I guess I can buy one (they cost almost half the cost of a shop repair, but at least I'll own it when I'm done). Thanks for the link, I'll look into it. I may get a bit lost around the "To test a power supply for proper output, check the voltage at the Power_Good pin (P8-1 on AT, Baby-AT, and LPX supplies; pin eight on the ATX-type connector) for +3 V to +6 V of power" stage though...

I've tried other stuff in the wall socket, so it's not that. Also, there is power going to the machine (enough to light up some LEDs at least!), so I dunno if it's worth buying a new cable just to double-check..?

No, I don't think so. It's the Gigabyte Z77 D3H...
-
Yeah, I have. I'll give it another go to make sure, though... EDIT: nope, didn't help.
-
Not that I'm aware of... Though I just took off the case and it turns out the LEDs are on the graphics card. No sign of LEDs lighting up on the motherboard, which I guess points to it being that...
