The Coen Brothers have this succinct split in their oeuvre, between early works (Fargo, Big Lebowski, etc) and their recent films (A Serious Man, BAR, True Grit, No Country For Old Men). I enjoy the latter much more. I think they're on the whole more evenly balanced films, without losing that special something. It can be hard for me to watch something like Oh Brother, Where Art Thou, which is a rather opaque film. But A Serious Man or Burn After Reading I can watch again and again and never grow tired of.

Anti-recommendation: Star Trek Into Darkness. Shambolic & inauthentic.

Without posting it here? That's kind of rude.

I fully support the Fullbright Company in this position. It's a tricky decision to make, but I think you've all made the right one, Steve.

Oh shit, I got the exact Richard Dreyfuss Jake got. I also got Elton John (OLD Elton John, yikes), and Cate Blanchett (delighted & flattered). Jason Statham was curiously in there as well.

I am starting a MI2 playthrough after probably... a good twelve years since I last played it. I expect to not remember anything from the puzzles. Looking forward to meeting Largo LaGrand again!

Looks like you need some good ol' Dutch water engineering! SOMEBODY CALL OUR KING, STAT!

HOLD ON, SPORT. What's this all about? Point me to the thread where stuff went awry and I'll challenge the wrongdoers in a hearty game of fisticuffs until matters are settled in decisive ways.

ViolenceKiller? Follow-up question: What is the Autostopowicz of video games?

Such a good style. I love it. Curious what the people might look like, again according to Interstate?

With this feature's death, the thread of prophecy is severed. Restore a saved game to restore the weave of fate, or persist in the doomed world you have created.

Only if he's accompanied by Citizen Lynch.

Whoa whoa whoa, we're entering into dangerous territory here, with people not acknowledging The Chronicles of Riddick as the fine sci-fi movie it is.

The BreenGrub Twitter is amazing!

Nintendo coming up with a new console in two years is a bonkers idea and pure wishful thinking. I understand where it's coming from, but there is no universe in which Nintendo has ever abandoned their primary console, even if it is a mildly bad weather at the moment. Nintendo have the cash, the drive and the cultural currency to keep the Wii U afloat long enough to make it work. Making a new console with added horsepower is not the way they do things. What could be in the cards is that they phase out the gamepad, which is kind of a lame duck. That's about as radical a conjecture I am willing to spew.

That was a fantastic conversation. I loved how it went two ways, and it got into all these interesting topics, and Peter Molyneux had voices in his head, and then it ended with zombie survival tactics. Well done, Sean! You obviously had a blast there, and so did Peter.

I've been completely indoctrinated now by the current discussions on feminism and the Bechdel test, but there are so few Lego ladies in this trailer. The only ones are Wonder Woman and the Love Interest whose primary function/joke is to make the lead character act like a horny ape. Well, fuck. The animation is superb, this might actually turn out pretty fun. I love the attention to detail, like 1980something Space Guy's chipped helmet - which happened all the time IRL with those early helmets.

I am ashamed that I am not original.

Can we agree that Last Year at Marienbad is the new Citizen Kane of stuff? (Please do let's not.)

Oh, Clyde, you may think that Pablo Picasso was an asshole, but I know for a fact that Pablo Picasso never got called an asshole (not in New York).

Yeah, it's a veritable deluge of Streetpass content. Though Nintendo has so far perfectly sated me with their dripfeed of new puzzles and quests, more is always welcome. I do wonder if it'll hit a point now where there's just too much to do. If I get a new Mii on my system, do I really want to take them through six systems/games to maximize their use? Yikes! Of all the titles, Mansion sounds most promising indeed.

No, man. We spend 2/3rds of our lives unconscious, and in our dreams is where we live for true.
