Haha, that's so Hitman. Dour expression! Fun Pikmin, Tegan. I like how they're all a little startled/uncomfortable.

The Selfish Gene may become progressively less readable as a book as time passes, much like how I found The Origin of Species incredibly hard to get through. The combination of exhaustive details on all manner of marginally interesting things (for a general public) and information that is entirely common knowledge at this point makes it more of an interesting historical document, rather than a great read.

I appreciate this summer read cast, guys. If I come across some Le Carré, I'll pick it up. It got the Remo Bump.

I now have Network on my one-to-watch list.

That's what turned me off about his later works in general. Reading The Selfish Gene, which is almost purely about biology, is the strongest advocate for atheism of them all. I guess they're for a different audience.

Cool! I'd be much obliged.

Yes, easily the least pleasant bits of any game are when you're dependent on any sort of AI buddy that you have to protect. The most stressful HL2 (possibly Ep1?) times were when I'm telling you, there are only a few games that get excort missions right. Resident Evil 4 among them.

Yep, that's pretty much the Dutch Foreigner Experiencetm. We loooooove to hang around with English speakers to hone our own skills, and because most of us have a healthy interest (well, I at least) in people from strange and exotic cultures. That means you.

Amazing news: the original creators of Outcast, one of the best PC games ever, are arranging to retrieve the license. Appeal is planning a new game in the Outcast world! http://www.gamasutra.com/view/pressreleases/195475/Original_authors_has_acquired_Outcast_IntellectualProperty.php Arrrrma! Arrrrma!

Getting in the mood with the making of. Especially the bits on music are just great. It cannot be stressed how amazing Lennie Moore's soundtrack is. After over ten years, still one of the most beautiful and moving OST's ever.

Can't compare of course, but Dementium 2 was a neat little shooter. A little short, but in terms of gameplay pretty interesting and diverse. I believe a lot of the complaints of the first game were dealt with. I so hope Renegade Kid will make new fps entries on the 3DS. Oh who am I kidding, I already know they will. They're currently working on Cult Country, and Jools Watsham recently announced the rights to Moon will revert back to them in 2014 - with a possible new title on the way.
-
Later games do a MUCH better job of integrating the puzzles - at least thematically - with the story. It's funny, because I remember specifically the puzzles of the first game as the freshest and most ingenious. There were a lot more smart gotcha's and tricks there, whereas later entries were more straightforward.
-
I only played the second Dementium, and it completely sold me on both Renegade Kid and their first person shooter engine. Hence my interest in Moon as well. Besides it taking place on the moon of course. I don't know if Theresia is good, but it's one of those titles that seems pretty unique and visual novel-like, so that alone is grounds for a try. I wish the 3DS got more visual novels! The eShop is perfect for it.

I'd be very upset is AAvsPL didn't arrive here. No idea why not, they're two recognizable brands, and putting it at least on the eShop would mitigate the largest risk of the thing while tapping into a huge fanbase.

Thanks, Synthetic, that hint was at once vague enough not to spoil anything, but it did bring me in the right direction. I'm mildly unpleased though, since the solution was Onto part 2! Already enjoying LeChuck's walking animation, and I laughed when Guybrush talked to the voodoo lady and she told me to continue looking for Big Whoop: "Oh yeah, I was doing that, wasn't I?" Such a true moment, since I too had forgotten all about it. Great alignment of player and character experience.

Yeah, and should you buy it, it's less than 7 Uro's. Don't have a lot of time this weekend, but tempted...

That's a sterling endorsement there, Toblix. Consider it considered!

Knee-deep in Steam now, it's so bizarre that I wouldn't have access to a game whenever I want it, but that I have to track down some archaic media carrier. Seriously, just put every DS game ever in the eShop. Shouldn't be too hard, right?
-
Oh absolutely. Just this morning I made a list of DS games I still need to track down and it reads: Henry Hatsworth Moon Dementium: The Ward Bowser's Inside Story 999 (only played a borrowed copy) Theresia I think with most of them I have a decent chance of getting them.

For some bizarre reason, I've not been watching any of the documentary episodes. I think I've seen the first one. I was excited and everything, but then the whole 'don't show me how the bread is baked, I just want to play the finished game' kicked in. Now I've come so far I just want to play the game whenever it comes out (I'm in no rush) and then afterwards I'll watch the making of. Is that crazy? I just feel I wouldn't be able to enjoy the game in a certain virgin way if I saw beforehand how it was all made. I'd be looking at the game from an appreciative standpoint more than a player's. As a result, I can't say anything about choices made about the game's scope. The only thing I can say that there is a ton of pressure for this project to deliver, since it's become the Kickstarter golden child.
