I didn't know Adobe gave away CS2 for free, that's really good! What an excellent thing of them to do.
  2. Games giveaway

SecretAsianMan just gave you the wrong answers. Here are the true ones, which I sent him earlier, but whose truth was so searing he could not accept them, persisting instead in his questionnair'd delusion.
  3. Dragon Commander: Obama's Wrath

I own Divinity: Dragon Commander. An old classmate from the HKU designed it, so I followed this one a little. What I really like about it is how it mashes all these different genres together. I get the feeling the 'dragons plus jetpack' thing is just an easy hook to get people enthused for it, but beyond that there's a real ambition to craft something novel and exciting - almost in an oldschool way. I have to respect that. I haven't been able to play it though, since my video card is way too old by now. Gotta upgrade first, so I can't say how good it is yet!
  4. Games giveaway

Actually, some of them have Steam keys as well (except for Dead Space 3, all the older ones definitely).

I may opt for online dating, I'm certainly not averse to it. If all else fails, I'll make a profile in a few months from now.
  6. PL4YST4TION 4

Once more confirming that Gamescom is increasingly relevant in the industry. Hooray for the old world!
  7. Life

Yes. I feel I've dealt with it emotionally already. Only one month coupled with some experience helps one become resilient in these matters. I will take the excellent advice of Mr Wint and Mr Kidd: if at first you don't succeed, try, try again. I had a great time with her, it didn't work out, let's move on and go again in a while.
  8. Life

My girlfriend of one month broke up with me. Her reasons were entirely relevant and understandable (we were too much alike, so she never found a niche within our relationship to occupy, plus not enough sexual attraction), but it still stings like a motherfucker. I'm somewhere glad that it happened after only a month, because that's, you know, the grace period where you're supposed to figure those things out. But for me, I just reached the age of thirty and I'm dreading the moment that I get a little older than I'm comfortable with to start a family and whatnot. It's a horrible feeling and it's killing me. Please, Idle Thumbs, be now a balm for my restless spirit!

    Amazing!
  10. I Had A Random Thought...

That's entirely true, Ernst. I increasingly feel counter-culture whenever I opt to keep something for myself instead of sharing it with the world.
  11. Nintendo 3DS

Well, gosh...! That seems pretty big. I'm certainly up for it, but perhaps there are others that would like it as well, and we can figure out a way to battle each other to the death for it?

Can I comment that Crispin Glover is even more amazing with that beard and a sharp suit?
  13. Movie/TV recommendations

To be honest, I didn't expect entirely otherwise. Pixar has somewhat disappointed me ever since The Incredibles (which doesn't really hold up after repeated viewings either, by the way). Up I downright (left) hated. The whole sector of animated movies hasn't been able to hold my interest. Sure, I heard good things about How to Train your Dragon and Tangled, but haven't seen those yet. The last film in the genre I really loved was the awesome Rango. It was delightfully off-kilter and a-typical. Also; holy shit look at Siskel getting steamed. Go for the jugular, Ebert!

What an insane view, Mington! How was the summer heat over there, actually? Bearable, or did you melt away and required fifteen showers a day in Hong Kong and Singapore?
  15. Life

Thrik, travel back in time and have your honeymoon in Kowloon. Lifelong memories guaranteed.
  16. anime

Yes. I loved it when I first saw it, and then when I watched Summer Wars years later I went: "That's totally Digimon the Movie!!"
  17. anime

The first two seasons of Digimon are genuinely a lot of fun. The whole battle for the world with Venommyotismon, and then in season two the Digimon Emperor, it's all really good. Would watch again if it was available in Dutch.

Verhoeven is a genius and Starship Troopers a fantastic film on many levels.

  20. Recently completed video games

I recently also beat this game, and the last boss was a complete push-over. It goes to show how much of a difference it makes which level you are. Mind you, I didn't grind for experience at all, I just 100% the whole thing before finishing up. At that point, everything was a cinch. I just beat Deponia. Cute game. I laughed out loud a couple of times, but Rufus can be a real jerk. I seriously considered stopping when I had to
  21. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

I battled and that was amazingly fun. Not hard, but very impressive. I want to do it again, actually! Also, I went ahead with my plan and returned to the Depths and the basilisk pits while cursed. Inching along carefully, I managed to clear out the entire area, including Not bad, if I may say so myself.
  22. You say that as if it isn't a perfectly fine use of the legal system.
  23. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

Yeah, I've had about as much fun with the ghosts as I want to, so I'm getting that curse fixed, then visit the undead asylum, then into the depths again. Though maybe I wanna stay cursed for a while just to clear out the basilisk pit and get that done.
  24. Dark Souls(Demon's Souls successor)

OK, I've gotten much further now (Depths) and am really enjoying it now. It seems it's just that one hump when you start out and you hit the first wall of 'wait, I have to retrace all my steps?'. Once you pass it, you become amazingly flexible in your approach to this game. I've been blasting through whole portions, defeated various bosses without too much effort, and it's great. Today I walked into New Londo Ruins, died a ton of times, but had a blast fighting ghosts. And I'm still really waiting and dreading the moment when the game gets really tough. So far everything is just so very doable, I hadn't expected that in the least. Sure, I'm running around cursed because a basilisk looked at me the wrong way, but that's part of the fun.

Network: one amazing dialogue after the other. Less of a coherent movie, perhaps, more an incredibly interesting set of scenarios and situations, with people reacting in believable yet surprising ways.
