Oreimo took a while to get into, it's quite bad. I really liked Kuroneko though, so I liked the weird alternative timeline thing. By the way, the pair-up of the protagonist with Kuroneko is totally canon - it happens in the light novels as well. I am nerd.
  2. GTA V

Whenever you feel these feelings, listen to this and distance yourself from earthly concerns.
  3. Movie/TV recommendations

What, you haven't seen The Matrix, or The Empire Strikes Back?
  4. Books, books, books...

I've started correcting a blind spot of my own by reading Asimov's Foundation. Terrific so far.
  5. The threat of Big Dog

How long before this thread upgrades from The Threat of Big Dog into The Throat of Big Dog?
  6. Half-Life 3

I'm not stepping into this triple cocklebladder. You're psyching the psyche-out. Steeeeeeeeve Perry.
  7. Nintendo 3DS

I am required to buy Streetpass Squad, for no other reason that you can get a terrific space fighter helmet there. That's right. I'm buying games for the hats now. Shit.
  8. Life

Good greetings. I am a Namibian Prince with difficulties getting rid of my extremely $ucculent diamond mine. And I am also interested in being your roomie.
  9. Cartoons!

OK. I've started watching - out of pure curiosity and a hunch that this is the sort of thing I like - the old 80s cartoon Ulysses 31. Never saw it as a kid, but I did love all the other Jean Chalopin cartoons, notably Inspector Gadget and Jayce & The Wheeled Warriors. Ulysses 31 turns out to be glorious. It features Ulysses (Odysseus), who is designed as Space Jesus: It's pretty heavy stuff for a kid's show. Yes, the animation is stiff and ugly, and there's a thick layer of randomly stupid dialogue, but pierce that crust and you have a totally psychedelic sci-fi take on Homer's Odyssey, with scary floating people, a mechanical cyclops and angry gods. Also accompanied by a rockin' electric guitar soundtrack. I can in good faith only recommend this to people who have a thing for 80s cartoons though.
  10. To the Moon

I played it a few weeks ago; nice experience. I too was put off by the 'JRPG' style at first, but once I got into the groove of the game, it was enjoyable. The gameplay elements were a bit tacked on, it felt a little like padding. I feel this game would've worked better as a straight-up visual novel, but it was fine how it was.
  11. Analogue: A Great Story

I love a good visual novel, it's a great genre for delving into inner thought, more so than a lot of other games (even narrative ones). Will eventually get to the Love/Hate games!

Fantastic news, SG. Good for you for sticking out this long, getting your own back and confronting a man that did you wrong. That can be tough as all hell, so it speaks of real character that you persisted. I returned from Stockholm yesterday night. Thanks for all the great suggestions here! I had a great time visiting the Vasa museum and the Science Fiction Bokhandeln. A good thing I spent every evening reading the book I brought along, since that opened a vacancy on the last day I could fill with Isaac Asimov's Foundation. It came with high praise from friends, so I knew it was good. Then I started reading and it's a treat! Incredible. Alright, back to Stockholm. Places I visited: the lush Djurgarden park, the Abba museum (who is the dancing queen? I am), the East-Asia musem (of which I first had reservations because it seemed weird to delve into that culture while being in Sweden, but my curiosity won me over and I didn't regret it. Small but very beautiful) and a tour of Riksdag - the Swedish parliament. Stockholm is a beautiful city, it looked very sweet and lovely (soft colors, round shapes) and I felt very much at ease there.

I believe I'm staying in the inner city. My hotel is in Sodermalm. Today I'm visiting the Vasa museum. The burger joints aren't helpful for a pescetarian, but I'm definitely visiting the nerd walhalla you described. Good one!

I considered the very thing. Afterwards I intend to have tea with the king. Surely the Dutch consul could arrange this for me?
  15. Gamescom 2013

I will be disastrously out of town for this, missing everything. Boo and hiss. Three or four years ago, Peter Moore got on the EA stage in tennis clothing for his bit.
  16. Life

I will be visiting Stockholm for a few days next week. Any specific things going on there that I have to see? Possibly Video Game related?

Megaman with a tooth ache, or Metroid dude with a tooth ache. Might also be a Teletubby.
  18. I Had A Random Thought...

Were you ever in Eindhoven in the last 20 years? You might've encountered Arnol, the local street shouter for Jesus. A remarkable figure, passionate and amusing at the same time. He'd yell all these bizarre phrases at everyone. My favorite was "I just drank a coke with Jesus, and did you know what he told me...?", repeating that over and over.
  19. I Had A Random Thought...

In the actual Netherlands? When does that happen? Who does that? Any proselytizing Christians I encounter are usually extremely meek and non-confrontational.
  20. GTA V

The generational shift is interesting: will Rockstar have incorporated way more graphical scaling in the game to ensure that it is both playable on current gen consoles, but will also look completely spectacular on PC's and next-gen? Also, looking forward to that release date for PC. Probably somewhere November.
  21. The Big LucasArts Playthrough

While we're on the topic of disclosing embarrassing developer-fan relations, I had a string of e-mails with Lennie Moore, the composer of the Outcast soundtrack. That guy was the most charming, friendly dude, and I a fumbling, awkward teen saying probably all the wrong things. Good times.
  22. GTA V

Just wanted to let you all know I'll be going to join in on Thumbs PC GTAV fun. Not missing this!

    Slick hairdo, man!
  24. Life

Haha, yeah. I believe in the Netherlands we've got stuff like Lexa and maybe e-matching? OkCupid does spam me regularly to pay attention, but I'm not.

Love it, Matubula! Fantastic scribbles on graph paper. Tegan; you don't need no stinkin' compliments anymore!
