Yes, please persist, twmac! You're honestly well over the hump; if you've come this far, you have all the skills and tenacity you need to see it through to the end.

Please change this topic title to «Baffle me this...»! It's a swell idea. I guess most people here enjoy puzzles. I'm reminded of those crazy internet games of some 10 years ago where you'd get these insane riddles and puzzles, just one after the other, that had elaborate ploys and things you had to answer and figure out. That was fun.

What am I getting myself into? I have to actually get somewhere in this game to pass a verdict, haha, this'll be a disaster.- 1284 replies

I'm darkly fearful for playing this game when I can't cop out and visit some wikipedia page to read the solution to whatever's stumping me at any given moment.- 1284 replies

There's an awesome ongoing video series about Gordon's inner thoughts: Freeman's Mind. -

I heard today I might be getting a review copy in a few days. Which also means I gotta play this thing tout-de-suite, and have such a thing as an opinion on it. How loathsome. Praise the sun!- 1284 replies

Walking Dead, Mark of the Ninja, Bioshock 2, The Cave vets form Campo Santo
Roderick replied to JonCole's topic in Video Gaming
Campo Santo turns out to be a wholly owned yet secret subsidiary of Double Fine (notice the twin words that comprise their name; they mean the same thing in the lost language of Bethandír) and are making the true sequel to Psychonauts. The wilderness vibe proves it! Everything else is a ruse. -
I'd vote you're already here, seeing as there's discussion here about both DS and DeS. Why not also Stirb Langsam: Dark Souls Deux?

Majestic and pastoral, Nachimir!

Poor Cabot... You have my sympathies, Subbes and Shammack. Hang in there.

Who are Your Favorite Video Game Reviewers/Critics?
Roderick replied to TychoCelchuuu's topic in Video Gaming
I have for years now been bored and annoyed by reviewers whose cheap schtick it is to get really angry and sarcastic. Yahtzee should've quit after the first year instead of making it 100% of his entire persona, always. The same goes for the Jimquisition and the entire host of Angry Video Game Nerd clones. At least James Rolfe always struck a balance between comedic anger and moments of no slight introspection, much like how Red Letter Media excellently performed the Plinkett Star Wars reviews (and only rarely relies on them, rather than it becoming their crutch). The only way you can get away with flaming rants is by being so meta you head into Francis territory. This is, for all intents and purposes, or at least for people my age, the post-ironic era. Thank Zeus. We can just come out and enjoy a thing with utter frankness and not feel obliged to hide it with self-hatred or by becoming cartoons. Rant's over! -
Who are Your Favorite Video Game Reviewers/Critics?

If we're speaking past reviewers, look no further than the guys from Consolevania/Videogaiden, Rab Florence and Ryan Macleod. Amazing video reviews. -
I browse these boards exclusively through the «View New Content» feature in the top right of the site. It's a great way to have fun to keep track of new topics without having to manually open every forum.

That Demon Souls music has some serious Fluxus vibes going on, using complete silence expressively in an awkward, foreboding, stop-and-go rhythm.

Who are Your Favorite Video Game Reviewers/Critics?
Roderick replied to TychoCelchuuu's topic in Video Gaming
Next to the opinions on the Idle forums and on the podcast, I rarely read reviews. Recently, I've taken a liking to the casual, speak-easy writing style of RPS, which seems to home in on the important points of the experience of a game and does away with all the fluff. -
It was tough to read, because it was filled with horrible clichés based on misinformation about what introversion is. Introversion has nothing to do with shyness. Nothing. It is NOT a social disorder. I'm introverted and not awkward at all, perfectly fine with social interactions, picking up the telephone, etc. I do get exhausted easily in large crowds and don't like parties and loudness - introversion's linked to sensitivity to external stimulation. We get drained easily by crowded places and events, but that doesn't mean we automatically fear them. Social anxiety has nothing to do with it, it's a different thing. Crap articles like this perpetuate these annoying falsehoods by continuing to spread the notion that introversion is a disability and introverts are a broken people.

Signing up for the Campo Santo newsletter turned out to be among the top decisions I made this year. So sayeth the Ombudsman. -
The actor Bryan Cranston versus Godzilla? etc.
-
Walter White versus Godzilla? I know who I'm betting on.
-
Oh? What's up with John Walker? I only recently started reading RPS and I don't see a huge qualitative schism between the various writers, they're all pretty good at first glance?

That sucks, Subbes. What happened?
