For real? I thought Smith was always a vocal proponent of smoking weed. Clerks was drenched in it. What a weird thing.

Yes, MK Wii was a disappointment, especially coming out of the great DS version and the excellent Double Dash!!. I remember that Double Dash!! was initially mistrusted, but the teaming-up added a fun tactical layer and the tracks were amazing.

I recently cold-listened to his commentary of Batman Forever and it was pretty hilarious and insightful, but also scary since I've seen that movie so many times I didn't need to play it to know which scenes they were talking about...

Double post: I am on the verge of being done with Game of Thrones.

That's actually better, I had forgotten that Forza is a Microsoft only thing and I'm never buying a One. So this is good.

Quite excited by Forza Horizon 2. That was a good game, even for a non-race-gamer, and I'm curious how they'll gen it up.

I can't resist linking the article I wrote on Zardoz.

Yes, saved replays that you can tinker with to slow down or (I'll hazard a guess) speed up.

Magnificent!

Zardoz is so good.

Still have barely played Crashmo/Fallblox. Just isn't as damn fun as Pushmo/Pullblox was! Wii U version: excellent.

I really liked the ocean physics in Dark Souls 2 because they were less realistic and more stylistic, to emphasize the otherworldly mood. I think at this we can accept that computers are good at simulating water. Now let's make it expressive. Wind Waker did this very well, it had gorgeous water that fit the art style.

Yes, I was not exaggerating, there is this one spot (near the cable line going up on the hill, with a great view of the city) that's crawling with dubious peddlers. Keep any and all appendages tucked close to your body and do not let them catch a wandering wrist. The talk of food here is making me very uncomfortable. When I go abroad, one of my main sources of anxiety is eating. It's always a huge relief when I find a place where I can get foodstuffs that I am comfortable with and that I can eat without the fear of it not agreeing with me. Most of the time I'm happiest eating simple bread meals from the local bakery or simple foods from a supermarket, since I know those and know they're safe. Eating abroad is a source of concern that I have to somehow nullify. Going on a gastronomical adventure on a carrousel of restaurants and local dishes is a nightmare to me. Not everyone is a foodie, and the thought of being kicked out of the group because I'm not is worrying.

If you visit the La Défence district, there's a big underground shopping mall with a nice Lego section. Alternatively, go to LaFayette for another fancy Lego section. You could parkour over the Arc de Triomphe? Or try to outrun shady folks near Montmartre who'll try to rope you into buying a piece of string. Tons of fun gaming activities! I'm sorry, no true gaming things I know of in Paris, but the above things are genuine recommendations. The Rhodin museum is very worthwhile too. I'd skip Versailles unless you have a particular interest in the period. It's a ways out of the city, quite expensive and crowded. It's not bad by any means, just, not Eiffel tower level of awesome must-see.

What is this? What is a prep book? My mind is melting, Cassie Bredon and Nick F.

Damn it, but computers have become really complicated
Roderick replied to Erkki's topic in Idle Banter
Mother of pearl, I did it. The thing is online and operational. http://www.uitgeverijleeuwenhart.nl For posterity, here are the steps it took: 1. Change the nameservers at the registrar to point to the servers you have hosting at (in this case Bluehost) 2. Go the the domain options at your host and make them accept and verify that the URL is yours and link it to your cPanel. Direct the URL here to whatever folder you installed Wordpress in 3. Go to the Wordpress admin panel and change the Site address and Wordpress Address to the new URL And that's it! And it was documented exactly nowhere on the internet, so this is literally the first proper to do list! -
Ben you forgot to add this

Lordy, brkl, methinks your identity just got hacked by a man with an iconic cap!

Thanks, that already helped me along a few steps. Let's see if I can figure out the rest over the coming days, while the nameservers swap. -

Alright, related to complicated things on computers, I have a website building problem. To my layman's mind it should be relatively simple, but maybe it isn't and I'm an idiot. I have: 1. a self-hosted Wordpress site on bluehost.com 2. bought a URL from another place to be the official URL of the site How to link these two? The URL registrar offers the option to link the address to the site, but either it takes over the whole thing as an iFrame, or it only links you to the actual URL of the site, which consists of ugly directories and numbers. How to properly link the two? Is that even possible from an external location? Apparently I am the only person in the world with this question, since an hour's worth of googling spawned no answers and not even the same question. I feel like I'm taking crazy pills. -
He's gonna be great friends with my first son, Nebuchadnezzar, so named not after the historical figure, but the ship from The Matrix. Also, GIEF MM3D.

No, no, no, this went from The Best Thread on Idle Thumbs to the worst. I don't want to see ugly versions of Batman

The impression I get from most of the reviews so far is that it's a serviceable game but brought down by poor story and characterization, and a bland environment. That effectively kills off my interest. Those are precisely the things that do the most for me to make a game memorable and worthwhile. It seems they're pulling another Assassin's Creed 1: having lot of interesting ideas, but being at a loss for what to do with them for the moment. I expect the second game to be the genuine expression of the WatchUnderscoreDogs concept. (Except that I love AC1, because it got exactly right the stuff I mentioned above - killer environments and interesting story.)

Nuts that this topic is popping up just now. This weekend at a friend's I listened to the audio book of Storm Front, the first Dresden Files book, while we worked. I enjoyed it so much I'm just now listening the rest of it myself. I might make it through the other books too, the premise is fun and it's deftly written. Also, the audio books are narrated by James Masters, Spike from Buffy. Just that added little flair.
