  1. Jiff?

We are having a REAL SITUATION here and we NEED someone to come in and fix this STAT
  2. Yes, yes, but how many weapons and levels will there be in the game? How many polygons per character model? Give us the pertinent facts.
  3. Good lord, why would someone want to abusively color Citizen Kane? That was a beautiful black and white film full of depth, not a nightmarish pastel horrorscape.
  4. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

After the megatons of earlier today (Arkham Knight, Grim Fandango, Mirror's Edge), Nintendo fell a little flat. Mostly stuff we already knew and a few fun new games that are probably not for me (Woollen World Yoshi, Splatoon). If you enjoy adventuring and exploring, only the new Zelda that got glimpsed ticked that box, but that's not out until 2015 (if already then). Metroid was missing and no price drop. I've heard there'll be a 3DS show later on, hopefully that'll remedy my lack of Nintendo enthusiasm. The show as a whole was pretty funny though, the in-between bits were thoughtfully made.
  5. Imagine if Sony got Schafer back the rights to Grim. I mean, even if he wouldn't do anything with it (except make some classy, classy merchandise), it'd be such a huge thing, wresting that away from LEC/Disney at last and bringing it to its rightful creator.
  6. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

It's the Citizen Great of Great
  7. Life

Go for it, Twig! You rocked the HELL out of the E3 IRC, imagine what you could do with a powerful JOB!
  8. Batmazement: Knightly Man Bruce

That's how you do a show. Gotham looks incredibly expansive and layered, it'll be a joy to fly over and race through. Love the Batmobile's versatility. As with Assassin's Creed, I hope they'll find the right balance between immersion and systemization. Too much of the latter will make you focus too much on min-maxing the game, which kiiiind of happened in the previous ones, though not to detrimental degree. Mainly at the end of City.
  9. The only thing that really bums me out is that I'll have to update my avatar to reflect the new models. Manny's head was pretty much perfect, his body could've used some additional polygons. I wonder if they'll change the visuals to reflect the original artwork. In other words: to which extent did the technical limitations inform the visual style and the shape of the heads? I'm guessing not much, since Glottis shows they could've gone for more bloated, 'skull-like' heads, but they chose not to. One brilliant device that came from tech restrictions were the 2D animated faces, which are to this day extremely brilliant. My guess is they'll keep those, since they're so key to the feel of the game.
  10. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

You complete me! I hope the main gist will be exploration (non-mechanics-driven save for the 'this animal was discovered by X!' achievement) and resource collection. The less guns and shooting, the better. We already know there'll be guns on the space ship, but the problem with guns is that when you've got a palladium cartridge in your automatic cyber-rifle, everything looks like a space-nail.
  11. If you truly want to play this without any preconceptions, time travel back to the land before 1998, the year this video game called Grim Fandango was released. It was made by a company called Lucasarts.
  12. Hahaha, people are upset about timing? About a game they've clearly already played? What difference does it make? It's not like there are spoilers or it'll truly influence the cultural zeitgeist so that they'll 'miss out' if they don't play it on day one. For me, this is almost an archiving process: get me this game as beautiful as it can be, get it on the marketplace, preserve it in everyone's memory and Steam library.
  13. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

My take on it is if they can take Proteus and put even a smigeon of mechanics in there, they've got a winner. All I want is to explore beautiful landscapes with a hint of purpose.
  14. HOLY SHIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIT WHY IS THIS TOPIC TITLE NOT IN CAPS? SONY WINS E3 ALL E3 PS4 NOW A MUSTBUY THE ENTIRE EARTH HAS BEEN WON BY SONY IT IS DONE IT IS DONE. It's done. I'll be waiting for the PC release for this """exclusive""" (triple quotation marks because I don't buy that it's anything more than a timed exclusive). (ADDED) I wrote the above before reading Sno's link and now I'm pretty chuffed with myself.
  15. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

What I liked about AC5 was that they've made crowds less 'mechanicy' again, with random groups of 3-5 strangers that turn monochrome as you enter them. AC needs to be less obviously systematized, and hopefully also playable with no interface. I always go for no interface, but the game is virtually unplayable that way if you actually want to progress. (It's great for dicking around though.) I'll be very curious if the assassinations themselves will be the same trite, pre-composed events again, or if they'll make good on the oft-repeated claim that you'll be able to 'plan' your kills. My guess is no. A different, a younger Ubiquitous Software might've done that, but not this juggernaut, no.
  16. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

Microsoft had a few nice videos: Witcher 3, AC5 and Forza Horizon 2 (sue me), which is me saying that it was less horrendous than I was expecting. There were only three shooters and less obnoxious US marines than I was bracing for. Kinda curious what Nintendo'll do. It might be boring, but every now then they have the capacity to charm & delight in the most surprising manner. Let's hope this is another one of those years. They need it, too!
  17. Really nice to see those story videos. As always, it's easy to miss out on what's actually happening, and knowing the story has made me appreciate the game more. Pity it isn't a liiiiiittle more overt, so I'd feel that way while playing.
  18. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

    Thank you kind sir Twig
  19. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

It's Bill Gates pulling another boner!
  20. The E3 Retrospectapalooza

OK, Micro$$$$oft starts in four hours. Do we do IRC? Steam? Skype? Get some goddamn instructions in here, I'm a noob.
  21. Nintendo 3DS

I had that with Fallblox, it was just too inscrutable. Pullbox was fine, it tread that very fine line of being challenging but ultimately masterable.
  22. Who are your personal heroes?

That sounds like a bunch of fantastic rolemodels at the least, Nach. I have come to value these small, social interchanges much more than sweeping, dramatic gestures. Being there for someone when they need it, not desiring anything in reciprocation, making others feel good without putting a spotlight on yourself. That and christ jesus of course
  23. Who are your personal heroes?

I thought about this before, and I don't really have heroes in the sense of a personal idol to look up to or strive to be like. I have plenty of people I admire, like David Bowie, but no one that really stands out as exemplifying the thing I want to be or reach in my life.
  24. Ack, such a shame the preview image gives the joke away!
