Thimbleweed Park: A new adventure game from Ron Gilbert & Garry Winnick!
Roderick replied to Tanukitsune's topic in Video Gaming
I wonder how much of the appeal depends on which adventure era you grew up with. I´ve always considered Zak McKraken and Maniac Mansion rather unpleasant to look at, a little too crude, whereas MI2 hits the sweet spot when it comes to pixel-y glory (Day of the Tentacle heralding the more animated 'cartoon' style). Had I been 5-10 years older, would the Thimbleweed Park style been to my adventure taste? -
The Zambonis have really taken hold of the internet. The time has come for me to try it, Noyb! As for myself, after a really solid first half year of book sales, I've witnessed them petering out a little recently. So I'm curious to see if I can give it a Christmas holiday boost by making a little ad and putting it online. It's Dutch, but it features a typically corny bit of poetry. Nothing says 'buy my shit' like poor rhyming. (Link to the online store)

I couldn't really get into it. The gameplay was rather off-putitng, regrettably. Either that or I really didn't understand how the battles worked. I liked the concept of Tetrissing your ship together, but the execution failed to appeal to me.

Is that Samus for real? Is this real life?

There is no way I can boil down the awesomeness which is the Nintendo DS, one of the finest gaming systems ever made, into a single game. There were several game series that stood out, among which Ace Attorney, Phoenix Wright, everything from the Mario stable, the two Zelda games, Animal Crossing, the Cing series of adventure games, the Castlevania's...

I have a very, very low tolerance for those 'everything wrong with' videos. They're flimsy excuses to make lame jokes, most of which aren't jokes at all but are telegraphed to be by the sound of that annoying 'ping'. Please stop making those.

Obligatory Comical YouTube Thread II: The Fall of YouTube

For a fantastic second, I thought he'd pull a Leland on that coffin. -
Gaaf! Dat vliegtuigje ziet eruit alsof het meteen op kan stijgen. Well done teaching your kids the virtues of Lego!

"Father Loves Beaver!" This is one chic movie. Loved it as a kid.

Yiiikes. Well, the signs were on the walls. Multiple sites have put up quite critical reviews.

I immediately googled the 60s Batman BluRay comparison shots and it's pretty neat! I can see Cesar Romero's mustache even better now! (Like Sean, I also saw every episode as a kid, I loved it.)

http://geekersopjespeakers.podomatic.com/entry/2014-11-09T04_35_29-08_00 The latest episode of the geek podcast I do with a friend of mine focuses completely on Lovecraft. It's in Dutch, but we have a Lovecraft connaisseur in the broadcast, and I read some (English language) passages accompanied by spooky music!

Overwatch - That time Blizzard made a non-Diablocraft game.
Roderick replied to Henroid's topic in Video Gaming
The little kid from the trailer was basically Dash from The Incredibles: from his character to the way he moves. I actually wasn't terribly impressed by the cinematic, it's just another dime a dozen 'Hollywood 3D animated film' thing without anything going on to set it apart. But then I've grown very weary of most animated features nowadays. Pixar hasn't enthused me for years, Dreamworks keeps churning out animal movies, Disney does some things which I haven't seen but are apparently good... that's why I was so excited for The Boxtrolls, at least there's nothing like it. -
This season of Dr. Who had its ups and downs, but I enjoyed it all the way through. And the ending two-parter was pretty good! Missy Poppins and Dr. President, more of that please! (Like, a whole season.)

I hate to give Blizzard shit for releasing the first new IP (ugh) in 17 motherloving years, but it's, eh. There's a dwarf with a 'hammer time' joke. The lady characters seem at first glance to have really similar faces (what was that called again?). On a personal note, I don't like this type of game, or rather it doesn't do much for me, so I'll just stick to the cinematic. -
The lady scientist set is so neat! It doesn't offer a lot in terms of an interesting build, but conceptually I love everything about it. Just last week I built the Ecto-1 and it is great. What a sterling set. It looks exactly like the movie, the Ghostbusters all have a unique torso with their names on them, and they even created this cool podium for them to stand on. At 50 euros it's relatively expensive, but so worth it. I'm considering getting a second. Lego should do a full line of sets based on Ghostbusters.

That is a fantastically dumb thing to do. I don't understand that business decision at all. You can't rival Steam as an ecosystem, your platform garners mostly scorn and contempt, so the only possible outcome for this is that you push away PC customers for your games.
